23.01.2022 Circle time is a part of our daily routine and helps them get ready for school when they turn 4. They loved singing songs, guessing the object and letter using flash cards and letter factory and reading a book called Brown bear, brown bear, what do you see? They know how to transition from one activity to another by packing away the musical instruments before moving on to the flash cards, book reading and among others. Songs, music, dance and books are great fun tools to engage our children into literacy.

22.01.2022 Color sorting and matching things helps children develop visual perceptual skills, thinking and memory skills. Did you know? Sorting and grouping things together is an important cognitive skill. It teaches your toddler to notice similarities and differences, learn to categorise, and develops early literacy and numeracy skills. ... Your child will benefit more in a family daycare setting as they learn how to share, take turns and learn in a play based environment at a lower number of children to educator ratio.

16.01.2022 Happy Easter everyone! Nothing beats good ole fashion egg hunting. Encouraged my daycare children to drink loads of water and made sure they have plenty of outdoor time to burn off those treats commonly eaten at this time of the year. Fun Facts about Easter: 1. A lot of us may chomp on chocolate eggs at Easter, but originally eating eggs was not allowed by church leaders during the week leading up to Easter (known as Holy Week).... So any eggs laid that week were saved and decorated to make them Holy Week eggs, that were then given to children as gifts. Victorians adapted the tradition with satin-covered cardboard eggs filled with Easter gifts. This has now developed into the tradition that many people enjoy today. 2. The story of the Easter Bunny is thought to have become common in the 19th Century. Rabbits usually give birth to a big litter of babies (called kittens), so they became a symbol of new life. Legend has it that the Easter Bunny lays, decorates and hides eggs as they are also a symbol of new life. This is why some children might enjoy Easter egg hunts as part of the festival. 3. Most importantly don’t forget the real reason why we celebrate Easter to Jesus who came back to life on Easter Sunday.

05.01.2022 The best way to fight bullying is to allow children to play with babies and allowing them to see how mothers feed, play, and look after babies. Taking care of babies sparks that nurturing and caring side of us. Here at Pumpkin Patch Family Daycare we value our home corner where children can role play as moms and children, pretend cooking, and play together.

03.01.2022 TODDLERS, MELTDOWNS, AND BRAIN DEVELOPMENT "Toddlers are brilliant. Arent they? They live in the present moment.... Theyre capable and innocent. And perhaps my favourite trait theyre authentic. Theyre unfiltered. Theyre among the most honest humans on the planet. Theyre unapologetically themselves. But, perhaps theyre also the most misunderstood humans on the planet. We, adults, have forgotten what its like to be a toddler. To be small and dependent. To be constantly learning. To feel only one (strong) emotion at a time, yet not have the tools to regulate that emotion. To experience the most rapid brain development of ones life. Instead, what our culture chooses to see are toddlers throwing tantrums. Pushing our buttons. Testing our limits. Acting clingy, uncivilized and impolite. This perspective can make us feel as though weve lost control. As if were bad parents. As if were failing. And so, were encouraged to control our children; to leverage our size and power. Mainstream parenting focuses on modifying superficial behaviour and resorting to tactics like punishments, time-outs, threats, bribes and rewards under the justification that perpetuating a dominance hierarchy is somehow serving the greater good. And when these scare tactics dont workwe escalate the punishment. But, what if, theres absolutely nothing wrong with our children? Nothing to be fixed. What if the problem is a lack of knowledge, understanding, and empathy within our society? And what if these techniques threaten to erode the ONLY influence you truly have with your child your relationship."

02.01.2022 The children are busy with their little hands learning the letter C with letter craft activity. Learning is so much engaging when children are involved in their creativity and sense of agency.
