22.01.2022 Some of you may have seen the report on the ‘Today Show’ yesterday talking about the results of a ground-breaking new study on tummy tucks. Our very own Dr Steve Merten, along with his colleagues, has been congratulated by The Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, for the study which explores how abdominoplasty can alleviate back pain and incontinence. As co-author of this landmark trial, Dr Merten has been able to show the fun...ctional benefits of abdominoplasty by improving chronic back pain and urinary incontinence in this group women. This shows that the procedure has benefits beyond the aesthetic. In 2016, Medicare restricted the rebate for abdominoplasty to just weight loss patients.
