Its been a busy day for your local Bermagui #SES crew, trees down that needed clearing, sandbagging walls and doors, watching out f...or power lines with roofs hanging off them, checking on people and more! It started early and finished late Many thanks to our #community for being prepared.... 10.01.2022 A community meeting has been called for those still at Bermagui and surrounding areas. Meet in the area around the surf club at 2pm today (Jan 6) for an update ...from emergency services. This meeting is for those still in the area, if you left Bemagui and surrounds to attend an evacuation centre or stay elsewhere, please don't return to Bermagui in order to attend the meeting. The need for food and supplies in Bermagui is known, services are currently looking at how to address that. More to come. At Cobargo - a disaster welfare assistance point is being established today to support the community based effort at the showground. If you have been impacted by the fires and have immediate needs such as shelter, food or water, please visit the Showgrounds and register for assistance with the Office of Emergency Management. Residents of Cobargo and surrounding towns and villages who have left the area should not return at this stage. The services in place at Cobargo Showground are limited and catering for those who remained. More to come. If you are unable to get to the Disaster Welfare Assistance Point please call the Disaster Welfare Assistance Line on 1800 018 444.
