20.02.2022 The Women's Climate Congress was born during Black Summer 2019-20. WCC believes it is time for women’s leadership to help turn the tide of political culture from polarised discord to collaboration and cooperation. We here at Purpose Partners wholeheartedly support their vision for a just and sustainable future. We are members, and contribute to some of the Congress' projects, including a small contribution to the National Congress of Women. 11.02.2022 We have been working away on several disability related projects over the past many months including some work on an area of great passion - the health of people with intellectual disability (will share some in future posts). People with intellectual disability experience shorter lives, more ill health and less access to good quality treatment than most groups of people. So today we are celebrating with the disability community a huge step forward on the issue with the release of a National Roadmap for Improving the Health of People with Intellectual Disabilty. Wonderful culmination of years of hard work by people with intellectual disability and their advocates. 21.01.2022 "Robert Sapolsky in his book Behave offers something of a hard awakening to the nature of our evolutionary make-up; he describes the opposite of love as not being hate but indifference." In January, I was privileged to be part of a training (brought from Ireland's Corrymeela peace centre by our friends at Campfire Co-op), called Dialogue for Peaceful Change. The story of this training, shaped by natural disasters and love and care for each other, will remain with me alway...s. I'm now a trained DPC facilitator, if you need any support with peace making :) More importantly for me, I am changed myself through this experience of navigating the great change of our times - climate change - as it played out at the micro level in this training. No indifference was present - only love. 05.01.2022 So cool to revisit Community Lifestyles Agency (CLA) in Maryborough last week to support them in reconnecting to their powerful purpose - Imagine Amazing Together. Since this purpose was born from community conversations in 2016, we have watched CLA live it to the max, imagining and intitiating 'amazing' with people with disabilities and their supporters. May it continue to inspire this wonderful team and the people whom they support.
