16.01.2022 Women in the Warra Working Out along the Waterways Gannawarra women are encouraged to join the Women in the Warra Campaign this November and take advantage of the beautiful Gannawarra waterways while enjoying a free come and try physical activity session. The Women in the Warra Campaign is run by Northern District Community Health (NDCH) in partnership with the Gannawarra Shire with funding made available through the Gannawarra Community Resilience Grants. The focus is on c...elebrating two of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing: Be Active and Take Notice. Local fitness experts will provide a range of physical activity classes by local waterways in Koondrook, Kerang, Cohuna, Quambatook and Murrabit. Rachel Robertson of Rach Robertson Fitness, Kirstie Cooke from Love Your Lifestyle Yoga, Belinda Batchelor from The Fiit Space Kerang and NDCH Exercise Physiologist Sara McNeil are helping out with the sessions and are keen to see women out and about in the beautiful Spring weather. Personal Trainer Rachel Robertson is facilitating the Koondrook sessions. It is a great opportunity for people to come along and try the classes and see if they like them, said Personal Trainer Rachel Robertson who will run the Koondrook sessions. Plus you get to enjoy our beautiful waterways at the same time. Exercise emerged as one of the key factors to maintaining good physical and mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic. During lockdown periods, many people took the opportunity to exercise outside each day to help manage their own physical and mental health We live in a beautiful part of the world, NDCH CEO Mandy Hutchinson said, and it is a great idea to get out and appreciate the beauty of our region while trying out new activities. The benefits to our mental health from being outdoors and doing physical activity are well known. Due to COIVD-19 restrictions there can only be 10 people participating in each session. So it is important that people book a spot quickly. For class schedules, criteria and bookings visit www.ndch.org.au/events.html This month NDCH’s dynamic duo Matt Allan and Paul Lacy featured in a music video clip promoting the 5 Ways to Wellbeing. Visit the NDCH Facebook page to view the fun clip, which was filmed before the current COVID-19 restrictions came into place. Thanks Matt, from Northern District Community Health for sending this through to us!

16.01.2022 Northern District Community Health AGM - You are invited!

14.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS Northern District Community Health on your successful grant application! Improving the health of people in Buloke, Loddon and Gannawarra shires will be the focus of a partnership program thanks to a new funding grant. The $115,000 grant from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) will activate stages two and three of the Buloke Loddon Gannawarra (BLG) Health Network’s Implementation Plan. Northern District Community Health (NDCH), as a partner ...with the twelve local health organisations in the BLG Health Network, is excited that their application for the Enhancing Country Health Outcomes (ECHO) program was successful. Stage One of the BLG Health Needs Analysis Implementation Plan, which was recently completed, prepared the twelve organisations for the next stages. There were up to $3.9 million worth of funding applications in the final round of the ECHO grants with a total available funding of approximately $370,000 which makes NDCH being one of the 4 projects awarded an incredible achievement. NDCH CEO Mandy Hutchinson said the funding would ensure the organisations would be able to continue the work already started. We know that when regional and rural health organisations work together in rural areas we get better outcomes, Ms. Hutchinson said. This project is all about partnership and working together to create healthier communities. With the health organisations working together in partnership, the project aims to increase workforce capacity and improve referral pathways across four key priority areas of Heart and Respiratory Health, Diabetes, Mental Health and Oral Health. It also plans to educate and empower communities across the neighbouring shires around those same key health concerns. One of the great things about the BLG Implementation Plan is that it is an existing and strong partnership, Tracey Wilson, BLG chair and CEO at Inglewood & Districts Health Service said. It aligns with and enhances work that is already happening in the region and taking it to the next steps for our communities. We are not creating new systems or programs but building on the collaboration and achievements with organisations we already work together with. The plan is also designed to link in with existing municipal health and wellbeing plans and organisational strategic plans. In 2016 it was identified that there were opportunities to support the health of rural communities through collaborative planning based on a shared understanding of the health needs and priorities of communities. The practice of sharing resources and workload around preventative health is familiar to all in rural areas.

05.01.2022 Check out the latest update with Marty of Rural Financial Counselling Service Victoria - North West SMALL BUSINESS FINANCIAL COUNSELLING - MARKETING Hi everyone,... This week’s topic is marketing. I had trouble selecting a topic for this week, and I wanted to choose the most important small business challenge for you to mull over. Cash flow came second, because marketing and selling are direct drivers and cash flow is the result of good marketing and selling. In my travels around the region, I am hearing optimistic and not so optimistic stories. Online sales are booming for some, the accommodation sector is picking up for some, and tourism based retail business sales are still intermittent. Post COVID who knows? I am going to mention some old fashioned principles. A gentleman called Robert W Woodruff condensed his life learning of selling into three rules: The first rule is the salesperson to learn all they can about the product or service they are selling. This knowledge and appreciation of what the person is selling naturally becomes a part of that person. The second rule is that the salesperson must know and study himself or herself. Your personality must be genuine. It cannot be contrived or artificial. The third rule is that the salesperson in turn must study customers or buyers as thoroughly as the salesperson studies themselves. He or she needs to learn their objectives, their personality and their motivations. To conclude his thinking, this is a pearler. No sale is a success unless the buyer finds out later that he has bought a good product , and the salesperson is genuinely interested in the buyer and their enterprise. In our digital age, are these observations relevant? Is the art of marketing and selling important? Can we assess ourselves against these three rules and pat ourselves on our back? We all have experienced the joy of a good purchase and the sadness of finding out later we have been sold a pup, whether it is online or in the flesh. The thought today is to look at yourself and your business with fresh eyes and assess if you need to address any of the above three areas and start the changes needed. If your business has mastered the art of marketing and selling, then next week’s thought is how do we live the dream? Is your revenue being converted into real cash that the owners of the business can regularly enjoy, and put aside a buffer for growth and rainy COVID-19 days? Kind regards to all, Marty Sammon, Small Business Financial Counsellor Contact Number is 1300 769 489 Website - www.sunrcs.com.au
