22.01.2022 Hello Everyone, Hope you are all doing well. We have made up some new 'At Home' activity bags for those children who are not attending the centre at the moment due to Covid-19. In the centre we have been discussing Anzac Day so we thought it fitting this is what we put in the bags. Included are 3 different craft activities and an Anzac Day biscuit recipe. Pop by the centre any time from today to collect your bag for the long weekend.

22.01.2022 Great video to watch and do with your children

21.01.2022 Were bringing Perth Zoo to you, wherever you might be tuning in from! For our first instalment, were with our Little Penguins!

21.01.2022 The children at our Armadale centre are learning the initial letter of their name and are making it out of bark in the garden. At Acacia Hill we make sure we make the best use of what we have to assist children in developing these skills. We are very lucky in Australia to have wonderful outdoor environments that can assist our educators to provide the children with plenty of opportunity to learn and grow.

20.01.2022 What a great activity to do with your children. See if they can guess the sounds

20.01.2022 Our doors might be closed but we are all still hard at work Thanks to Keeper Jody for the clip!

19.01.2022 Thank you to all families who were part of our Bush Fire Appeal dress up day last month. We are pleased to say from the day we raised $850.00. This amount has been donated to RSPCA NSW.

18.01.2022 Toddlers are becoming more aware on how to look after their toys and helping pack away. They are using songs and onlooker play to attain the skills and enthusiasm to become confident and involved at pack away time.

18.01.2022 Our goal is to nurture a fun and friendly learning environment which offers children the security to freely explore, experience and learn. Our team are respectful and encouraging, values we believe can only exist in a nurturing environment. We bring our unique skills, passions and talents to the forefront each day to share them with the children, their families, the community and our fellow teachers.

18.01.2022 A big congratulations to our wonderful Jasmeet on receiving your Diploma. All your hard work has paid off

17.01.2022 A big congratulations to Ashleigh our winner of the April Golden Child Award This is what her peers had to say..... Everyday Im learning a lot from Ashleigh. She is an amazing leader. If I have any problems regarding my work, she always gives me a better solution. She always wears a smile on her face. Ashleigh takes care of everything relating to staff and families. She loves to share her ideas which helps me in setting up different experiences for the children. As a newly q...ualified educator, under her guidance, I am learning a lot from her. Her caring nature motivates us to come to work every day. When we share ideas she enriches them with her ideas and experiences. Ex: I informed her about my idea of making a shopping corner in the room using recycled boxes that I have collected. Then she shared her experiences and enriched that idea saying she can print money which children would love to use when they are doing shopping. Best thing is, she has already printed them for me to implement my plan. Ashleigh is so caring towards everyone. Ashleigh shares heaps of information to everyone. See more

16.01.2022 This week the children have wanted to continue with their under the sea creations. We have been investigating which creatures live in the ocean. The children wanted to create sharks and jelly fish. As a large group project, the children worked together to create a mermaid to live in our environment.

12.01.2022 The Armadale centre kindy children have been doing lots of science experiments. Here they enjoyed watching how the colours mixed together and turn into different colours. This activity is so simple to set up and yet it’s educational, entertaining and provides lots of opportunities for learning and fine and gross motor development.

11.01.2022 Were bringing Perth Zoo to you! Meet Tricia and Permai, Perth Zoos resident Asian Elephants!

10.01.2022 Play-based learning is most effective when children are able to pursue their interests across an array of environments, including outdoor learning spaces.

10.01.2022 Does your child want to read the same books over and over? . Whilst as parents, it might drive us just a little crazy, repetition of the same books over and ove...r again has so many educational benefits. . 1. Helps build vocabulary: reading that same book helps to cement connections between words and pictures, giving vocabulary a boost. . 2. Connections between words + language: overtime, your child is starting to make the association between that jumble of words on the page and what you are saying. They start to understand that those are words being spoken. . 3. Helps letter and word recognition: if you are pointing to each word in turn, then your child will start to make the connection. They will start to recognise familiar letters and words, resulting in them learning to read in the future. . 4. Helps story comprehension: being able to read is only one part of reading. Comprehension (understanding) is really important and the more you read the same book, the more they understand the messages. . 5. Shows how to form phrases and sentences: overtime, your child will start to understand that words written together form phrases and sentences. Familiar books help cement that understanding. . 6. The familiarity is comforting: sometimes children just need the comfort of knowing exactly how the story is going to end. See more

09.01.2022 This week in the babies room weve been learning about how to be gentle and taking turns. The children reflected their thinking while playing with the dolls. Its childrens way of understanding and beginning to make the world their own by practicing everyday events.

07.01.2022 Acacia Hill aim is to assist in raising resilient children to become good members of society. Our team achieves this by working collectively to develop meaningful relationships with the children, families, and the community. We are passionate about early learning and the education of children through play, so much so that we have developed our own curriculum to guide and support our educators. We believe a skilled team of educators who are dedicated, passionate and creative provide children with the best opportunities to develop and foster a lifelong love of learning.

05.01.2022 A great cause and a great day to donate if can, donations doubled today, we have made our donation...

05.01.2022 To recognise NAIDOC week (National Aboriginal and Islanders Day Observance Committee), we have been learning about the Indigenous story symbols, We have recreated the Aboriginal flag using our hand prints, we learnt Black represents the Aboriginal people of Australia, Yellow represents the sun, the giver of life and protector and Red represents the red earth, the red ochre and a spiritual relation to the land. We have been listening to dreamtime stories all week, such as `W...hy Koala has a stumpy tail`, Tiddalick the frog` and `Rainbow Serpent` we then coloured and decorated and cut our own `Rainbow Serpents`, which are now hanging in the room We are going to attempt to make our very own traditional Damper bread or bush bread made by Australian Aborigines for many thousands of years by crushing a variety of native seeds, and sometimes nuts and roots, into a dough and then baking the dough in the coals of a fire. Ours will be a simpler version and baked in the oven. See more

05.01.2022 Congratulations to Connie on receiving Golden Child for May 2020 Learning I have observed Connie's focus to the experiences in the kindy room since she has been in there. The children are clearly enjoying the curriculum she is providing. Caring... I received feedback from a parent with regards to the cleanliness and presentation of the kindy room. He said he had really noticed a difference with being able to return to entering the centre again. Sharing This month Connie has shown support to all the staff as we have had some major changes happening in the centre. She has taken on the role of the kindies room educator with pride and the room always seems engaged and happy when I enter it. She is always ready to give a helping hand when needed no matter what the task may be. See more

05.01.2022 Have you been thinking about why you send your child/children to childcare? Childcare can provide many benefits. The top 10 reasons for your child to attend our centre include: For the children... * Relationships with other children their own age, educators and materials * Control over the direction of their learning * Vast array of educational resources and experiences that are documented for you to have as a keepsake * Educators with extensive up to date knowledge in the development of birth-5 year olds * Environments designed for different types of play and learning with many opportunities to express themselves * Links to the wider community * Ability to form independence For parents * Ability to continue with your own career path * Assurance your children are being provided with early education * Respite (we all need a bit of that every now and then)

04.01.2022 Our Philosophy at Acacia Hill Our philosophy and curriculum has been heavily influenced by the Reggio Emilia Approach. This approach is a very ‘child friendly’ way of educating children, allowing them to just ‘be’ children and to enjoy their world surrounding them. In building your child’s education we have adapted and focused on four key elements from the Reggio Approach which fit wonderfully in the Australian context and suit the milestones of the early years.... To find out more about the 4 elements of our approach visit our website today - https://www.acaciahill.com.au

03.01.2022 The Pre - kindy have been cars through play, extending on this through setting out their own environment. Educators encourage animation, imagination and interactions during their play.

02.01.2022 The kindy children enjoyed outdoor play indoors due to the weather. The children enjoyed practicing their balancing skills by walking across the beam before jumping off and stepping on the stepping stones with their arms out to help them balance themselves up. We finished the obstacle course with bean bag throwing the children were given 3 bean bags each to throw in a basket provided.

01.01.2022 MEDIA ALERT Sunday 29th March 2020 Western Australian Early Learning Centres (Childcare) need assistance NOW... Over 70,830 Western Australian families are facing the immediate (and potentially permanent) collapse of Early Learning (Childcare) services, as providers fight to keep their doors open to support 99,180 Western Australian children and the thousands of educators who care for them. We appreciate the Prime Ministers acknowledgment of the essential service childcare plays as a very high-to the top of priority consideration and that we are an integral part of our economy". What we need is support packages put in place immediately to keep centres viable. This week alone, we have attendances drop to the point of no return. Childcare centres have hit a financial wall and bankruptcy looms. Services are unable to waive Gap Fee payments (co-contribution for families) unless they are directed to close. We need the Government to scrap the co-contribution (Gap Fee) for families immediately and to pay the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) for all of the children who were attending our centres from March 01. This simple first step comes at no additional cost to the Government and must be enacted NOW Childcare centres are being told to stay open, yet Ministers are telling parents to keep children home. Services and families being hurt by non-attendance on last day of care. We need Government to waive this condition NOW to help families that have removed their child/ren as per Ministers instructions. With mass exodus of families from Early Learning Services this week alone, services are closing, and job losses will top 200,000 across the country unless funding is made available NOW. Whilst the Government has offered a range of financial support packages the administration of the application process means that the funds are being delayed by weeks. The Government needs to assist services to not only assist in paying staff but to operate day to day. The CCS alone without the Gap Fee is not enough to continue to pay staff and operating costs. Families need to know in this time that when they return to work, that their children will come back to the same service, staff and high-quality care that they have relied upon. The mental wellbeing of our children during and after this time is of the highest priority, for this to happen Government needs to step in NOW. Early Learning (childcare) is one of the linchpins of our economy enabling parents to work and contribute to our society and economy. If significant support is not offered immediately, these essential support services will be forced to close, with a mass lay off of educators, and many are unlikely to ever re-open. The economic impact for the State to recover will be even harder without these essential services. ACAWA calls upon both the Federal Government as well as the State Government to step in immediately to support the sector.
