21.01.2022 UNITE & RECOVER: COVID UPDATE We’re opening Queensland for Queenslanders, meaning from 12noon tomorrow (1 June), with Queenslanders now able to undertake unlimi...ted travel including overnight stays throughout the entire state. The easing of intrastate travel restrictions by road, rail and air within Queensland would come well in time for the next school holidays and would significantly kick-start the state’s tourism industry. Restaurants, cafes and pubs that continue to operate under a COVID safe checklist will, from tomorrow, be permitted to increase the total number of patrons from 10 to 20. And from Friday this week, with a COVID safe industry plan, venues with more space will be able to go further and allow up to 20 people in each separate area, seated for meals or drinks. For example, some surf clubs, pubs and RSLs may have four or five defined separate indoor and outdoor areas they can have 20 people in each of these areas if the areas are big enough. While some venues will need time to prepare, the confirmation of these changes will give many the confidence to re-open for dining in or to increase the number of patrons creating more jobs. For community sporting events where clubs have more than one field, limits of 20 spectators per field will apply. Gyms, health clubs and yoga studios will also be able to open for up to 20 people and more with a COVID SAFE Plan.

01.01.2022 Dear Queensland Hobie sailors and supporters, I regret to advise that I have just today received notification from the Commodore of the Lake Cootharaba Sailing Club that the club has decided to cancel its Easter regattas, including the 2020 Queensland Hobie State Titles. The club had been expecting up to 100 boats at the Lake for Easter, to compete not just in our event but other regattas, with quite a few sailors travelling from interstate and overseas.
