A new group, the Queensland Junior Piobaireachd Society, is holding their first ever meeting at the Ipswich band hall at 1.30pm on Sunday 2 August. If you're a young player keen to join like-minded piping enthusiasts, come along! Greg Wilson legendary piper, double Gold Medallist and three-time Clasp winner will be taking attendees through the simple / starting tune The Groat, before a social afternoon tea.... 14.01.2022 I have some good news! The World Online Piping & Drumming Championships is open for registrations. We have events in solo piping, side drum, tenor drum, and bass drum in every Grade level. We're excited to announce five new events Open events for pipers and side drummers at the highest level. These new events and prize money ($2200 total) have been made possible by the generosity of Midwest Highland Arts Fund, who run the fantastic Winter Storm - The Pipes & Drums Event in K...ansas City, and Piper's Metronome the world's best metronome for pipers and drummers.

10.01.2022 PIOBAIREACHD GROUP NEWS The September meeting set for the SUNDAY 9th has been CANCELLED as the Queensland Solo Piping Championships will be on Saturday 8th September in the Ipswich RSL commencing at 12 noon. The October meeting will be held on SUNDAY 7th as programmed in the IPSWICH PIPE BAND HALL (near the corner of Lion and Moffat streets), 10.00am to 1.00 pm... The Performing Arts Room at the Rochedale High School has been booked for the November meeting (4th) for the recital day. As usual the day is for all players. And we will need details of nominations and tunes early so it’s probably time to think.

08.01.2022 This weekend BBC Pipe Band pipers & drummers will be playing a few tunes out of respect: Friday 10th April (Good Friday) at 8pm - our pipers & drummers will be ...stepping into their own gardens or front doors, wherever our boys can play safely and still keep socially distant, and play Scotland the Brave to show our support and a HUGE Thank You to our key workers. #PipeUpforKeyWorkers Saturday 11th April at 4pm (we would normally be competing at the MacLean Highland Gathering in NSW) In respect of Alistair Wallace from MacLean Pipe Band who sadly passed away in January. 06.01.2022 Pipe Bands Australia are championing a musical tribute to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II. Known as ‘VP75 Our Piping Tribute’, the project requires players to: 1. Register their participation. 2. Learn a tune called ‘VP 75 Lest We Forget’, which has been composed by Mark Saul specifically for the occasion (pipe and drum scores available).... 3. Perform the piece at 9.30am on 15 August 2020. 05.01.2022 We are excited to today announce our judging panel for this weekends IPADS. The first of our judges has had significant success on the world stage of solo pipin...g, most recently coming 5th in the Argyllshire Gathering Gold Medal competition, and 4th at the A Grade MSR at Inverness Northern Meeting last weekend. Innes Smith will sit on our Piobaireachd and A grade panel.

02.01.2022 Ah, the pipes! The inaugural 1770 Challenge Cup Solo Bag Pipe Competition was to be held today at the Agnes Water Community Hall. As an initiative of the Quee...nsland Highland Pipers' Society, to encourage piping in regional Queensland, the intention is for this solo bag pipe competition to become an annual event in conjunction with the 1770 Festival. Local resident, Owen Capon has been vital in instigating the 1770 Challenge Cup Solo Bag Pipe Competition, and is seen here practising at the 1770 SES Grounds recently. #VisitAgnes1770 #GladstoneRegion #Queensland
