23.01.2022 Important information for all QSA members!! 1. Medicare card information urgently needed! The information required to be submitted by QSA to Services Australia to support each request for reimbursement for a SAS claim will soon be changing. ... From January 2021, QSA will be required to report a members medicare card details including their card number and their individual reference number (the number beside the name on the card within each claim for payment submitted to the Stoma Appliance Scheme. To ensure that we can continue to process your requests for supply after December 2020, it is critical that you provide QSA with your correct and up to date medicare card information before the end of 2020. The easiest ways to do this is to register for our members portal and to update your membership profile once your registration has been accepted. Members can register for the portal at https://portal.qldstoma.asn.au/register For those members who are not yet eligible to register for our portal (DVA card holders and dual ostomates), your medicare information can be updated by completing the spaces provided on our current order form. Please be sure to include: a/ your medicare card number (10 digits), B/ your individual reference number (the number which is to the left of your name on the card), and C/ the expiry date of your current medicare card. An electronic copy of our current order form can be obtained from https://qldstoma.asn.au//uplo/QSA-order-form-July-2020.pdf 2. Christmas Closure and December/January orders To prepare for the January 2021 change in claiming information, QSA are moving to a new claiming platform over the Christmas break (from Tuesday 23/12/2020 to Tuesday 5/1/2021). To help us with our transition to the new claiming system, we request that all members place their December 20 and January 2021 orders as a double order before the end of November 2020. This will also help to ensure that orders will not be delayed by unexpected disruptions caused by our transition. Thank you for your assistance and your continuing support!

12.01.2022 So this came as a bit of a surprise!! Last Friday, the Commonwealth Department of Health announced that it has decided to explore alternatives to stoma product distribution through the Stoma Associations by releasing a Request for Expressions of Interest through Austender. Watch this space..... the times they are a changing and not necessarily for the better. Wonder what this will mean for our members hip pockets???

11.01.2022 A few photos from our small COVID safe celebration of Gerry's 50th year as QSA President at the completion of the 2020 AGM on Saturday. They say that behind every successful man stands a patient and supportive partner. How true those words are in Gerry's case! The work that Gerry has done over the past 50 years in promoting the wellbeing of ostomates, not just in QLD but nationally and internationally as well, would not have been possible without the support of his lovely wife Yvonne. Thank you Yvonne for your support of our association and for letting us have Gerry for the past 50 years.
