23.01.2022 INFORMATION FOR NDIS CLIENTS RE SERVICES DURING THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC. If you or a loved one rely on the NDIS, you can find out how the NDIA is responding to the coronavirus crisis and supporting participants, and answers to various FAQs, at this link. https://www.ndis.gov.au//ndis-/ndis-and-disaster-response

21.01.2022 NEWSFLASH! The Federal Budget released yesterday includes a "doubling of support to increase clients' access to TWENTY Medicare-subsidised psychological therapy sessions per year (from the current 10). We are yet to receive further details but at this stage it’s our understanding that the increase comes into effect from this Friday (9 October) for at least a 2 year period; is available for all Australians with a referral under the Better Access scheme (Mental Health Treatmen...t Plan); includes telehealth sessions; and will only require a GP review after each 10 session block (not the current 6+4). Unfortunately, there has been no announcement of an increase in the Medicare rebate but there is ongoing advocacy for this. In the meantime, the increase in subsidised sessions is a great outcome for the many Australians needing more than 10 sessions per year! The Govt has also committed funding to support the mental health needs of certain populations via Govt-funded organisations (not private practices). You can find out more in the Budget media release (there’s a snapshot of key health initiatives on pg 13). The above details are yet to be confirmed, so we’ll post an update if any of the information provided here changes. See more
