25.01.2022 As well as our iconic antique cash register, we now have this little device, so you can choose cashless sales for purchases $5 and over.

25.01.2022 Some nostalgia in this retro collection of items. The complete set of cutlery is still in its velvet-lined oak box.

24.01.2022 Lots of retro stuff, including vinyl if you're into that.

22.01.2022 Some lovely art deco items in our window this week.

22.01.2022 Sometimes we get a whole set of matching items, plus a random selection of individual pieces.

22.01.2022 Games to play and things to do in this useasonal wintry weather.

21.01.2022 We're ready to emerge from our summer siesta, so come along and check out our new stock.

19.01.2022 We're open with lots of goodies available. We all just need to follow certain procedures to keep everyone safe.

18.01.2022 We have this very beautiful set of three chromolithographs, inscriptions on the back as shown.

17.01.2022 Maybe you need some more toys in your life?

16.01.2022 Is it a bird? Well it certainly is a rather delicate carving of one, but it's also a horn from some bovine animal, that someone saw the artistic potential in. The things we get donated!

13.01.2022 Beautiful embroidered black satin shawl. $45

12.01.2022 Hey, we are opening again. The big day is Tuesday 9 June. Of course, for the welfare of workers and customers, we will have special measures in place, so we will all need to observe those. We look forward to seeing all our old customers, and perhaps some new ones as well!

12.01.2022 Christmas is coming, and we are putting out decorations, cards, and other useful bits and pieces. Come and stock up and avoid the crowds and prices of retail stores.

11.01.2022 Some beautiful carved leather pictures of two of our favourite animals.

11.01.2022 If you would like to look like this, do we have something for you! An antique crimping tool. Just heat it up, crimp away, and voila! Marcel waves all over your head. Astound your friends.

09.01.2022 A public acknowledgement from the Barr Smith Library.

07.01.2022 Two much loved, antique collectable teddy bears.

06.01.2022 This is such a treasure. A genuine antique toy pram. The basic framework is sound, but it certainly needs tlc to restore it to its original splendour. It is so special, we have put a price of $120 on it, still far below what you'd pay on the open market.

06.01.2022 We now have cloth masks available.

04.01.2022 Given the current outbreak of coronavirus in Adelaide, we have decided, in the interests of staff and customer safety, to close the shop for this week, starting today. We will let you know, later this week, whether this closure will continue. Sorry for the inconvenience, but safety comes first.

03.01.2022 Every girl needs a feather boa - or two or three. But let's not be sexist here; they're available to whoever would like one.

03.01.2022 A whole row of Toby jugs. Though it seems that everyone's here except Toby.

03.01.2022 A pair of exotic puppets from we're not sure where.

01.01.2022 We never know what's going to turn up in the donation bin - or the story of how it got there. Take this which arrived today. One of 23 copies of a mammoth piano work, with an inscription by the composer. The work takes four hours or so to perform, so is not part of most pianists' repertoire. A check on Wikipedia reveals that the composer said that "the harmony bites like nitric acid - the counterpoint grinds like the mills of God". Whatever turns you on, I guess.

01.01.2022 A little team of volunteers has filled our windows with Christmas displays for you to enjoy even though we are closed (until 25 January). We closed down for a couple of months earlier in the year to keep our staff and customers safe, but we wanted to show our appreciation for those whose work required them to keep going through that risky time. The backdrop to our main window shows words reflecting our appreciation of them and the work they did. Peace and Joy to all.
