Register your child for our January mindfulness holiday workshop to develop strategies to help regulate them, practice mindful listening and acts of kindness through their day. This workshop will also work towards having a mindful body when participating in daily tasks and mindful thoughts to fill their brain. They will walk away with their own toolbox of strategies to help keep them cool, calm and collected. Then using their pinching fingers, pick up and glue sequins to decorate the tree! Finish it by sticking it on a paddle pop stick. #cuttingskills #occupationaltherapy #christmas #craft #diy #christmastree

21.01.2022 Sparking curiosity and creating suspense are some of the best tools to increase engagement and learning when playing with a child! We use this all the time in therapy sessions and there are lots of ways you can do this at home too! Wrap up toys for the big reveal, hide sight words around the house or cover up letters with a tea towel. Works with all children - big and small. Unwrapping toys is also a great activity if you need a few minutes to yourself! #learning #play #engagement #activitiesforhome #occupationaltherapy #paedsot #qualiaot @whogivesacraptp

10.01.2022 Qualia Wishlist Part C: Self-Care Our last list of favourite products for the Christmas stocking are those that promote independence with self care activities: 1. Food picks: they are a win win. Make meals fun, develop motor skills and you might even find your toddler eats that carrot you have been offering lately 2. Refillable food pouches: a great alternative to store bought pre made food. We love using for yoghurt and green smoothies! 3. Laceez: easy, no tie elastic... shoe laces for the little people who are benefiting from a bit of help with tying their shoes! @laceezaustralia 4. Silicon push up ice block moulds: so much fun for summer! Try blending fruit or yogurt and make some delicious snacks. 5. Food cutters: a variety of these are available on Amazon. That cucumber is so much more appealing when presented as a star! 6. Kiddikutters: these make it to the list every year. Having a little helper beside you in the kitchen is way more fun when they can participate in a safe way. These knives are tried and tested by all Qualia therapists and continue to prove their statement - cuts food not fingers! @kiddikutters 7. Visual timer: making time tangible for kids can really help with daily routine, or even those times you give that 5 minute warning to pack away! Merry Christmas everyone and happy shopping! 09.01.2022 Working on number formation with your child? Here’s a fun and innovative way to practice that gets the kids outside using chalk, draw numbers 1-10 along the fence or pavement and have them ‘paint the fence’ (or floor) by tracing the numbers over and over with water and a paintbrush until they disappear!#numberformation #painting #finemotoractivity #outdooractivities #occupationaltherapy

08.01.2022 Happy world mental health day! 2020 had been a challenging year for everyone . It is important to set aside time each day to care for yourself and make sure you are okay. 04.01.2022 Activity idea Play hairdressers to practice your child’s cutting skills have your child cut along straight or ‘curly’ lines and prompt them to stop at the end of the line (so they don’t cut their eyebrows!). This is a great activity that practices slowing down and stopping at the end of a line. #cutting #cuttingskills #scissors #hairdresser #finemotoractivity

04.01.2022 Happy OT Week! Given the recent onset of droughts, bushfires, and the global pandemic, in 2020 our OT Week theme is:Resilience: Supporting our communities to rebuild, recover, and reengage. This year the event not only shines a spotlight on the value of occupational therapy in our communities, but also serves as a call to arms to support those hardest hit. In supporting people to participate in activities they find meaningful, occupational therapists are ...vital in helping our communities through disaster recovery. As disaster survivors reengage in disrupted occupations (such as daily routines, activities and employment), they can better cope with stress and be supported through their recovery. #otweek2020 #rebuild #recover #reengage #occupationaltherapy #paediatricoccupationaltherapy #otaustralia
