20.01.2022 15 years ago at the Electrical and Communications Awards presentations my company received the Bob Cooper award for Excellence. The most prestigious award in our Industry. I thought after what an honour to be selected for this award, but I thought more of Bob Cooper. I did not know him but knew of him, and more so was in awe that he is honoured every year through this award ceremony. 10 years after winning this, I lost my Mentor, my work colleague of 27 years, and above all my best mate. Today I say good bye to another old mate Owen McCane, a gentleman, and an extremely passionate electrician. Owen was the inspector that presented me with the Bob Cooper award 15 years ago. One thing I have learnt in this period is dont wait till they are gone to build the shrine. Build it with them every day you can. RIP old mates. I miss you both.
