11.01.2022 While COVID19 has confined people to live within small communities, the Aveo Group - retirement and aged care resort in Newstead, asked me if I could perform for their residents within the governments safety guidelines. Each performer and employee represented by Queensland Entertainment are certified with the relevant safety, security and legal certificates that are required to supply such an event while considering the welfare of others. This event was a bit different for my...self due to the circumstances, but still - an amazing and uplifting experience. Not only was I humbled by the warm welcome of the staff and residents, the enthusiasm throughout the evening solidified the importance and power of music and the connection of live entertainment in our lives at any age. Firstly, it needs to be said that as an entertainer as well as an entertainment provider, I appreciate your past commitment and continued support for live entertainment.... I understand that your businesses, staff and families are effected by the current circumstances and completely understand that choices need to be made to preserve what you can financially. The one request I would like you to think about, and I believe I speak on behalf of every professional entertainer, is that when things do get back to normal is that full time musicians are your first preferences in bookings before acts that are subsidising their weekly income. Full-time musicians are taking a huge hit as may in other occupations are, but I don’t love seeing the performers that have other full time occupations whinging about the gigs they are loosing. This does not mean that the weekend musicians should miss out - just not the first priority. It’s a compromise that is fair until we all get back to normality. Yours sincerely. Treva Scobie
