23.01.2022 Queensland borders will open to the Australian Capital Territory at 1am on Friday, September 25 and the ACT will be removed as a COVID-19 hotspot. We are working with ACT authorities to make sure appropriate checks are in place at Canberra Airport for people flying into Queensland. Anyone who has been in a declared hotspot in the past 14 days will not be allowed into Queensland. Person limits in indoor premises will increase from 1 person per 4 square metres to 1 person per 2 square metres Up to 200 people can attend weddings and funerals, and all guests can dance at weddings, both indoors and outdoors Seated, ticketed indoor events like theatre, live music, cinemas and sports can increase patron numbers from 50% to 100% Outdoor events can have up to 1,500 people attend with a COVID Safe Event Checklist Open air stadiums can increase seated capacity from 75% to 100% with a COVID Safe Plan Outdoor dancing will be allowed, including at events like outdoor music festivals or in beer gardens It is still important that Queenslanders remain vigilant. Stay 1.5 metres away from other peoplethink two big steps Wash your hands lots with soap and water, or hand sanitizer Sneeze or cough into your arm or a tissue. Then put the tissue in the bin.

16.01.2022 Hey Queensland! Let's talk face masks Face masks can be a useful measure to help control sustained community transmission. Sustained community transmission is when we have multiple cases of locally acquired COVID-19 where contact tracing and testing is unable to identify how the person was infected. At the moment, there is no evidence to suggest that Queensland has any sustained community transmission. If you live in the greater region of Brisbane, a face mask might be suit...able if: You are in a situation where social distancing cannot be maintained, i.e. public transport or a busy shopping centre If your GP has told you to wear one If you are caring for someone who has COVID-19 If you are attending a GP clinic, hospital or ED If you are sick and getting a COVID-19 test Face masks alone will not protect you from COVID-19. It is also vital that other COVID safe practices are followed, including: Washing hands often and thoroughly Maintaining a social distancing Covering coughs or sneezes Staying at home if unwell Getting tested if you're showing any signs of COVID-19. In addition to presentations by Brad Chilcott of White Ribbon Australia and Vanessa Fowler of The Allison Baden-Clay Foundation, event MC, 7 News Brisbane’s Sharyn Ghidella hosted a highly informative panel discussion from leading Queenslanders, including Kat Baulch, Australia’s CEO Challenge..., Ben Bjarnesen, LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Foundation, and John Siaki, Siaki and Sons Removalists, Queensland. While some technical difficulties were experienced throughout the event, we’re pleased to bring you a recording of proceedings at qld.gov.au/whiteribbonday for those who may have missed it. We encourage you to catch up on the event and share with your family, friends and colleagues. 10.01.2022 COVID-19 ALERT: Changes to health directions To keep Queenslanders safe, we've updated a range of health directions, that came into effect at 8am this morning, 22 August. For those in Greater Brisbane, new measures are in place to slow the spread of COVID-19. In Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan City, Scenic Rim, Somerset, Lockyer Valley, Moreton Bay, and Redlands, gatherings in peoples homes and outdoors are now limited to 10 people.... 05.01.2022 COVID-19 Update: BORDERS CLOSING The Queensland border will close to New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory from 1am this Saturday 8 August 2020. This means that anyone who has been in these states, or Victoria, in the previous 14 days, must not enter Queensland except for limited exemptions. Returning Queenslanders will also have to pay for 14 days mandatory hotel quarantine.... Residents of border communities, freight and essential workers will still be able to cross the border. This decision has been made for the health and safety of Queenslanders, so we can unite against COVID-19 and protect our state.

05.01.2022 COVID-19 ALERT: Changes to health directions To keep Queenslanders safe, weve updated a range of health directions, that came into effect at 8am this morning, 22 August. For those in Greater Brisbane, new measures are in place to slow the spread of COVID-19. In Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan City, Scenic Rim, Somerset, Lockyer Valley, Moreton Bay, and Redlands, gatherings in peoples homes and outdoors are now limited to 10 people.... Everywhere else, outside these LGAs, gatherings in peoples homes and outdoors are now limited to 30 people. Sustained community transmission is when we have multiple cases of locally acquired COVID-19 where contact tracing and testing is unable to identify how the person was infected. At the moment, there is no evidence to suggest that Queensland has any sustained community transmission. If you live in the greater region of Brisbane, a face mask might be suit...able if: You are in a situation where social distancing cannot be maintained, i.e. public transport or a busy shopping centre If your GP has told you to wear one If you are caring for someone who has COVID-19 If you are attending a GP clinic, hospital or ED If you are sick and getting a COVID-19 test Face masks alone will not protect you from COVID-19. It is also vital that other COVID safe practices are followed, including: Washing hands often and thoroughly Maintaining a social distancing Covering coughs or sneezes Staying at home if unwell Getting tested if youre showing any signs of COVID-19. 02.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE: Our new border pass system is live! We’ve streamlined the border pass system to make it easier for people crossing the border into Queensland. When you jump online and apply, the system auto selects the pass you need based on the information you provide. A simple document upload process allows for faster assessment and provision of passes, and there's a lengthened validity for each pass from 7 to 14 days.... Make sure you apply for your border pass at least three business days before you are intending to travel. This system will help to make it easier for those wishing enter the state, while ensuring we continue to keep Queenslanders safe from COVID-19.
