You’ll need to ride it before you race it. Two new gap jumps. A lot more berms, a rock garden. Plus a few other surprises. The track is open. On line entries are open. I’ll be working on the track most days this week. If you want to ride the track you need a MTB/Auscycling license or s...ign waiver form in shed at top of driveway. On Sunday 10th U10 kids start at 7.30am A grade and E bikes 8am, B grade 8.02am, C grade 8.04am and U15 kids 8.05am. More details coming. 23.01.2022 Current results are up. Best 4 results count.

23.01.2022 As this is going to print we are racing this weekend at Nerang. I know Chris and the GCMBC are doing everything possible to get us on the tracks this weekend. Covid plan will be in place, so we need people to enter on line if possible. More details on this as we approach the weekend. Saturday is flow time. 4 tracks which you can do as many runs as you like on btw 12.30pm and 3pm. With your best times counting. All trails are XC level descends and should be fun for every...one. Yes can go full enduro and go flat out down them but your XC bike will also get you down them, maybe not as fast. Then we get serious on Sunday. 8am kicks off with the U13 and U11 boys and girls on the course down the bottom. We think this will be 4 laps. This track is fast and should be a lot of fun. 8.30am we start heading up the mountain. This will be on the short course, which misses a brutal extra 800m. U17 men 4 laps, Sports men 3 laps, U15 men 3 laps and joining them MASTERS MEN 5-8 with 3 laps. Even on the short course theres some challenging sections but also some very fast sections.. 9.20am and also on the short course, U15 ladies 2 laps, U17 ladies 3 laps and Masters Ladies 3 laps. Then at 10.30am the gloves are off and head up into the hard stuff. Theres nowhere to hide up there and this will bring out the best in our riders. We have some of the best riders in this country, so come along and see why. Elite Men and E-bikes 6 laps U19 men and Elite ladies 5 laps Masters Men 1-4 and Open men 4 laps. We will need people to social distance and not touch each other. We will still have podiums but pls dont crowd around the podiums. Rules and restrictions may change but theres a lot of work going on behind the scenes to get racing on this weekend at Nerang. So plan for it.

23.01.2022 First: thanks, the support was wonderful. Ok Ive been riding my bike like crazy and I hope you guys have been too. Racing is getting close. Now if everyone can keep washing their hands and not cough on anybody, here is the plan. If the government and MTBA lets us:... 25th 26th July will will wrap up the Wild West series at Walloon. Looking at maybe a XCC on Saturday using the new table top and XCO on Sunday. One entry fee for both, same as usual. RACE 1 of SEQ Mtb series will be a cracking weekend at Wondai on 8th and 9th August. They have an awesome track there which is a lot of fun. The South Burnett Mtn Bike club will be running this race with a short course race Saturday arvo, BBQ and story telling Saturday night at the local Pub and XCO on Sunday. The guys and girls there are really keen to show us the work they have done up there and are very excited about the weekend. There is free camping there and they are working on some deals on accommodation there. One entry fee will include both races and at this stage they will hold equal points. The rail trail runs thru the town and they also do guided tours of the two Mtn bike parks in the area if you are keen to explore new trails. Young Soren took me for a flat out sprint on the kids course and it is a lot of fun. It will be a weekend to remember. Great chance for us to give back to the country too. Race 2 30th August at the mighty Nerang. Run by GGMBC. Race 3 12th and 13th September at Castle Hill. Still working out details but this looks like it could be a big weekend too. Run by Ipswich off road cycling club and Ipswich Cycling Club. Race 4 17th and 18th at Kooralbyn. Another weekend in the country and I know the team at Kooralbyn have been working hard on their tracks. Race 5 31st Oct and 1st November at Karingal. XCC type race on Saturday and XCO on Sunday. The Rats are back. Then State Champs on 22nd November at Samford. Run by DRCC. Will start getting these dates up on line very soon. So keep riding, get excited, stay safe and mostly try and stay upright. Will get a Wild West Series points tally up soon and atm still working out the finer details of the SEQ Mtb series. AND remember, support your local bike shop small businesses and of course your local mountain bike club. They need us and we need them.

23.01.2022 Great weekend of racing. Great photos as usual Dylan.

22.01.2022 For races 3 and 4 of the SEQ Mtb series we head to Nerang on 29th August for Enduro and 30th August for XCO. Daisy Hill got us back into racing, Wondai got us back into XCO but now Nerang. Time to climb again, and see how how skill set is going. There be some fun and at times challenging runs of Saturday, staring from about 12.30pm.... But lets get to Sunday because we are back into serious XCO racing on parts of the Commonwealth Games Course, this was to be a Tier 1 race, so expect to be challenged at times. Timetable posted soon but U19 men, Elite men and woman and Masters Men 1-4 will do the long course, it has 800m of extra climbing, rocks, hair pin corners, get your butt back descends and pinch climbs that will get your heart pounding. All other grades will miss the extra 800m bit but dont despair, theres still some tough sections in there for you. All rideable. Theres also kms for fun which youll enjoy. Theres some speed to be had, berms to be ridden high and fast and jumps to get air from. The National championship are in January at Maydena. So for anyone thinking of going, this will test how your going. On line entries are up on Qldmtb.com The course is attached, so get there and work on your line choices, get confident on rocks again and comfortable climbing. Gold Coast Mtn Bike club are in a battle atm to hold onto some of their trails there that have been there nearly 20 years. So lets get there and support them. Show the powers to be how important Mountain Biking is to the community. This is going to be another great weekend of racing. In the meantime, get out and ride. Stay safe and support each other.

22.01.2022 17th 18th October we head to Kooralbyn for the next two rounds of the SEQ Mtb series. They have been working hard on their trails and I think your going to enjoy both race tracks. Saturdays 10km loop with the 5 timed stages is best raced on your XC bike. There's a few wild sections but nothing too hard. The bike may want to spend some time in the air. Sundays loop also has some very fast sections. More details coming soon. On line entries are up on Qldmtb.com Campi...ng is available out there or you can stay at the resort. Tracks are open anytime to check out. C

18.01.2022 Bugger dam people. Its raining again and parts of the track are now almost unrideable due to the amount of clay your tyres will collect. Sorry guys but we are going to have to post pone as stopping to get the clay out btw your tyres and fork during a race is not fun and can be expensive. New date in Sept/Oct

16.01.2022 The woman were awesome at Nerang. Celebrating international womens day. Keep it going ladies.

16.01.2022 More great photos from Dyan Provan. Thanks mate.

16.01.2022 State Champs 2019. It was another awesome day of racing run by Ipswich Cycling club at Castle Hill. We are hoping to have 2020 State Champs at Samford on November 21st and 22nd. XCC and XCO. Run by DRCC. Double header at Karingal on 7th/8th November and Kooralbyn on 11th or 18th October. More dates coming soon. ... The Sweeny may be doing 90 but when we get the word to go. (Cool for cats for the oldies) Some changes planned for 2020 season. Elite men and woman, U19 men and woman, U17 men and Master Men 1-4 will race on a harder track where possible, help riders prepare for interstate races. All other grades will have a easier but still very awesome track. We will where possible also add XCC racing or something very similar to the program. There will also be racing up at South Burnett. So with XCC on Saturday and XCO on Sunday we are trying to give back to some of the country areas. Therell be camping available and Im sure theyd love to have us there for the weekend. Plenty to explore and small local coffee shops and food outlets that really need us. Stay safe, stay upright and ride that bike. Ive got to go and plan my next 3 days of riding. Love riding. ps. Lots of new people on the trails, be mindful of them and dont forget to encourage them. Then when the track is clear, Hammer time (sorry but u cant touch this) Ok thats all. Ok I may be missing it a little. Go, Im done, nothing more to see or hear.

16.01.2022 Round 1 & 2 of the new SEQ Mountain Bike Series kicks off this weekend at Wondai. We are also working hard on some flash series trophies for overall winners in the first year of this series. Saturday arvo we start with short course XC racing. Seeding for Sunday and points for the series from racing on Saturday. Sunday the return of XCO racing. It will be worth the trip just to watch Elite men and U19 men race. There will be two former World Champions in the front row a...nd this race is going to be frantic. The best of the best and Im sure some young guns testing themselves out in this epic battle. Jared Graves back racing after a health scare. I watched doing laps at Walloon the other week and he looked fast. Cameron Wright looked very strong in winning the Daisy Hill 4hr race on Saturday. U17 men also has a booming field. Its time to get fast and furious again. The track at Wondai is fast. A number of local companies have got behind the race and are supporting this race. So it would be great for us as a Mtn Bike community to get up there and give a little back to the country. More details about them later in the week. 15.01.2022 It was an action packed weekend.

15.01.2022 We are lucky in SEQ to have a number of good race tracks. They in turn need our support. Get out to Adare this Sunday. You'll enjoy the morning.

15.01.2022 Go to website for on line entries. The tech loop and other sections of XCO track will be open on Saturday during Flow race. Due to Covid plan we can only take on line entries for weekend, no day entries.

14.01.2022 Some great racing today at Karingal in the 10km time trial. Brayden Martin was the fastest male and Anna Beck the fastest female. Big shout out to Ride Mechanic for donating prize money. It will be much appreciated. The awesome trophies for SEQ Mtb series are completed and ready. They had some hail at Karingal this arvo but not a lot of rain, so the track will be good for tomorrow. Timetable is different from previous races so pls check it out on The Rats Mtb website. Still plenty to be decided on race results tomorrow. Last hit out before State Champs at Samford on 22nd November.

14.01.2022 Timetable for Sunday at Castle Hill. 8am U13 and U11 boys and girls on new loop for 20 mins, about 7 laps. 8.30am on short course U17 men 4 laps, Masters men 5-8, 4 laps. Then at 10.30am Elite men 6 laps, E bikes 6 laps, U19 men 5 laps, Elite woman 5 laps. Masters men 1-4 4 laps and Expert men 4 laps.... For series points, best 7 results count and you must complete 5 races. This race is being run by Ipswich Off road cycling club and Ipswich Cycling Club. We will need some help this Sunday with registration, taking down bunting btw races and some marshalling. Pls if you can help out for an hour or so that would be wonderful. Theres a few challenging climbs and no shortage of rocks but theres also a lot of fun out on them trails. Go to Qld mtb website to enter on line.

14.01.2022 On line entries are on. Only $5 to race on Saturday.

13.01.2022 Time to get back into it. Its a new Walloon track.

12.01.2022 Too wet, no need to destroy bikes and track this weekend.

12.01.2022 I think we will now need to postpone the Wild West Series. When we can again, we will return. Ill wait and see on any new dates. Depending on when it is saf...e again to run races will determine how the rest of the season looks. We are also looking at a major reboot for the 2021 season. Stay tuned. In the meantime, stay safe, wash your hands and be smart.

12.01.2022 The amazing XC ladies.

11.01.2022 Hope everyone is staying safe and NOT hoarding. The supermarkets will stay open and toilet paper is made in Australia. Now to more important stuff, XCO racing this year. ATM a lot of events in the next few months have already been cancelled. Things are changing on a daily basis and please be smart out there. The feeling atm is to postpone the Wild West Series and the SEQ State Series. Riding bikes is good and riding bikes fast is better. So the crew at Kooralbyn are... prepared to run their Wild West race if people are keen to go. They have spoken to Qld health and are prepared to put all the required safety measures in place. Entry would be on line only and Im thinking about how we would do starts. So if I get an overwhelming feed back from riders that they want to continue to race, we will do everything possible to put races on and ensure they are safe, fun and mostly awesome. We are also looking at Strava loops and maybe running a contest. Fastest up Mt Nebo over Easter. Most KMs travelled on a Mtn bike over Easter. We are still working hard in the back ground and are open to ideas. In the meantime, ride your bike, stay safe, keep going out for coffee, wash your hands, post photos of your rides, shop local, talk to your friends and look after one another. Remenber 150 rolls of Toilet paper will not protect you, it will only create less room for bike stuff.

11.01.2022 Great start to racing at Wondai. Some slight changes to program tomorrow. We start with Bacon n Egg burger and warming coffee. 8am start and as per program. U17 ladies 3 laps, Masters ladies 2 laps. Elite men and E bikes 5 laps, U 19 men 4 laps. Masters Men 1-4 and Open men 4 laps, masters men 5-8 3 laps, Elie ladies and U19 ladies 4 laps. See you tomorrow. @epic_cycles @qldmtb @southburnett_mtb @giantashgrove @ridemechanic @urbanmusclesupps @ Wondai, Queensla

10.01.2022 Covid 19 dependant but hopefully this is what we have for XCO racing this year.

10.01.2022 Hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Xmas period. GCMTB club are putting on something different for their Xmas party. Jan 10th next race of Wild West Series at Walloon then back to Nerang for round 3 which will be a Tier 1 race.

08.01.2022 Going to be a most awesome weekend away.

08.01.2022 Race 5 of the SEQ mountain bike series heads to Castle Hill on Sunday 13th September. We are working out what tracks we will race on this arvo. At this stage, looking at using the same format as we used at Nerang. A harder track for 2nd half of the day. Therell be elements of fun, speed, fear and heart pounding action. With added climbs and rocks. Castle Hill, its why you bought a Mtn Bike. Format for the series is best 7 races count and you must have raced at le...ast 5 races. I will attempt to get a current points tally out tonight. So get your entries in. More details soon.

08.01.2022 Hey guys, The Qld mtb website is down. So results are up on jrsgymandbike.com Don't forget to sit down and enjoy the amazing photos Dylan Provan has posted up. We are very lucky that he is kind enough to share with us. Thanks mate and keep it. It was another great weekend of racing and looking forward to more races at Kooralbyn.

07.01.2022 COURSE INFO - PRACTICE STRICTLY LIMITED TO WEEKEND TIMES POSTED. This 4km lap is for all categories from u15 up. Pay no attention to the time as @haydenlester87... took it easy...he said...though was awfully sweaty. Official call on Saturday but as we have an top elite lap of around 13 minutes, we can probably INDICATE that: Elite men should do 6 laps Women's elite - 5 laps As we know elite times on this course only, on Saturday as is usual, commissaires will decide with more data what mere mortals and up and comers will do...again...on Saturday during practice. Those TBA categories work on times between 40-60plus minutes so weather and conditions can affect them. Saturday Morning Kids - (super soakers are welcome) U13 - 20mins plus one lap on Saturday will climb up that eastern fenceline across to the ridge above the dam. Then tear down past western dam bank in the map on the right to a new, improved loop around the start. Very spectator friendly. Approx 1km U11/U9 15 minutes plus one lap...they will climb up the eastern fence and come across the south of the dam. Less climbing. Almost entirely visible for the parents and a new, improved start loop just for the kids :) Approx 500-600m.

07.01.2022 Sorry guys, we did everything we could and the track was in perfect condition Friday arvo.

05.01.2022 Now some amazing photos from Dylan.

05.01.2022 The tracks for Sunday will be a lot of fun. Yes it'll be hard work but your Mtn Bike will love it.

05.01.2022 After 2 years being held by Ipswich Cycling Club and Ipswich Off Road Cycling the baton is being passed onto DRCC for this years State Championships at Samford on the 21st and 22nd November. Both Mackay and Ipswich have produced great State Champs events over the last 4 years and we thank them for tough courses, great atmosphere and a good weekend of Mountain Bike racing. This year DRCC will no doubt continue this tradition. ... Saturday 21st will be U9, U11 and U13 races with the track being open after that for all grades. Sunday 22nd all other grades. I'll pass on Timetable when I have it. We will get online entry up soon on qldmtb.com It is currently up on MTBA. Trails have been worked on with Northern trail care alliance and equipment from Ryno Hire Machinery Hire. Plus the event is also being backed by the mighty Ashgrove Cycles. They have been supporting local racing for as long as I can remember and they are also a good bunch of guys. Get training and get your entries in.

04.01.2022 There's is plenty coming up, so get out there and support those working hard and bringing us plenty of great racing. 28th to 30th May the Mackay Cup is on. UCI points up for grabs. Just ask Jared Graves how important UCI points can be for seeding. You'll need UCI upgraded licence. These points will get you on the front row at the State Champs this year at Mt Crosby and also at the National Champs next year if you are in the same grade. It'll be tough racing as I hear th...e Kiwis are sending some of their best. The track is awesome and the Mackay folk are pretty cool too. If your staying in SEQ, get yourself down Kooralbyn way for the Granite belt grunt and grin festival that weekend. Then the big event. Final round of the Wild West Series at the mighty Adare XC Track always a crowd favourite. Great prizes and it will be a most excellent way to spend Sunday morning on the 6th June. Also a good warm up for the Bayview Blast. That's on the next weekend, 12th/13th June. Then fathers day weekend where everything is on. 19th Kooralbyn Endurance series race, Shimano Mtb GP at Townsville and on the 20th National Cyclocross race at Samford. Qucik breath and on the final weekend of June 26th Fox Superflow race at Townsville and on 27th Cyclocross race at Ipswich. The first round of the 2021 SEQ Mtb series will be on 11th July. There's is plenty on, the race scene is very healthy in SEQ. Lets keep it that way.

03.01.2022 This weekend get yourself down to Nerang. They do an amazing job and there will be coffee.

01.01.2022 The State Championships roars to life at Samford next weekend and it looks like it's going to be an awesome weekend. Max Temp Saturday 29 degrees and max temp Sunday 28 degrees. So there'll be no holding back. DRCC have been working hard on upgrading their race track for the weekend. Timetable attached for when we get our first look. When I get laps and mud map of track I'll post it up. ... We have had some great battles this year in the SEQ Mtb series with a number of sprint finishes. Queensland has some of the best riders in this country, so expect more blue ribbon racing. Get your entries in, clean that bike and find that race face. It'll be brutal, the quads will scream at you and your heart will attempt to burst out of your chest. That's on the first lap, it gets better after that. XCO racing: it's full on and we wouldn't have it any other way. See you there. It's also great for story telling and catching up with friends. Giant Ashgrove will be there with great prizes and even taller stories. ps It's a community and it's for everyone. As JBJ said, a mountain biker you don't know is just a friend you haven't met yet.

01.01.2022 On line entries are open. Free camping available.
