21.01.2022 It’s so much fun designing and especially good when it’s for a cause that you’re super passionate about. Anything bagpipes is definitely my thing. When I was asked if I might design a logo for the NSW Pipers Society @NewSouthWalesPipersSociety I went into design mode immediately and wanted to create something special and quite distinctive that reflected the Pipers Society. I was also keen to do a good job of it as the request came from the Pipe Major of my pipe band, n...o pressure, haaa haaa @nspipeband It took quite a few goes to finally come up with this logo lots of playing with text and graphic elements and the interplay of the two. I also wanted a colour that represented all bands as this society is all tartan inclusive, so I chose the colour of the Scottish Thistle, it’s a beautiful deep purple, a sense of regal about it which suits the society too. The NSW Pipers Society welcome all pipers of all abilities to come along to play or listen in a very informal atmosphere. Even pipers like me are welcome a very beginner with a few squeaks on the pipes. I went for the first time in November and it was lots of fun. 18.01.2022 This is our great Australian tradition at it's best the 'Bunnings Sausage Sizzle' fund raiser. It was a terrific day had by all with band members and family Andrew, Alison and Fiona along with newbies David and Rhonda (that's me). We were fund raising for the Northern Suburbs Pipe Band @nspipeband where many sausages were sizzled with customers happy to see us back. We even had a moment to treat the passing Bunnings trade with a few tunes. 12.01.2022 I would like to introduce you to the one and only, Quirky Turkey, on his pipes. He’s been waiting in the wings practicing his throws, strikes, birls and taorluaths and he’s ready to make some noise. Quirky has been loving playing the pipes now for about a year and a half and sometimes he even sounds quite good. Quirky wants to know how long have you been playing the pipes and how many tunes have you managed to memorise, or have you lost count?... How have you spread the bagpipe love of late, exciting performances to friends, family and the dog or cat or wearing t-shirts declaring your allegiance to the pipes forever or encouraged younger members of the family to walk in the ways of the piper, not to be overstated or sound too obsessive. 05.01.2022 Well, it takes all sorts to join a pipe band and from my experience more often than not we’re a motley crew, in a good way. Whether you’re a piper or drummer we need each other to complete the pipe band and create melodies and harmonies that create joy and arouse sentiment. As a piper my favourite drummer also happens to be my husband which is why he’s my favourite. I love to look across and see him drumming away. We often have a bit of pipes vs drums banter which leaves me ...laughing. Did you want to show your appreciation with a shout out to that drum core that just keep showing up each week or those pipers that just keep hitting that melody line?
