25.01.2022 Our body seeks pleasure, our mind seeks order and logic, while our higher self seeks purpose and love. Whichever one we are focused on at the moment is perfect, all have their place and usefulness. It is important to make time to nurture and nourish all 3 and deny no part of ourselves.



25.01.2022 Self-care when you HAVEN'T got the time VS when you HAVE the time. 1) When life is very busy at work and home, compress your self-care routine. Take care of the essentials: - Drinking 2L of water... - Eat quality, real food - Walk every other day - Rest when you can, ask for help - Unclench your jaw and breath... Prioritise 40 minutes minimum to self-nurturing when time is short. 2) When you have lots of time, self-care can be more expansive. - The morning routine could involve sitting outside, with a favourite book, a beautiful fruit platter and cup of tea. - Touch could include a self-massage and moisturizing your whole body. You could add a gratitude process, appreciating each area you touch. - Taking a break could include sitting by the water, hiking in a rainforest and getting away for a couple of days. When you have the time, 2-4 hours a day can be spent on what nurtures your mind, body and spirit. Have a great day

24.01.2022 I provide treatment for a lot of nurses, carers and paramedics. Many are feeling out of balance and anxious. I ask if during their medical training they learnt about the Sympathetic Nervous System? The SNS is active when stressed and relates to the fight/flight/freeze response. The opppsite, is the Parasympathetic Nervous System. When this is active, you feel calm and a release from stress. The immune response is stronger and food digests better.... Im sharing this because your PNS is the gateway to relaxation. We can train the body to be calm via a few methods listed below. - 20 mins of hypnotherapy - 20 mins using a breathing technique - A yoga nidra or tai chi class - Relaxation massage It takes 20-30 minutes to activate the Parasympathetic Nervous System. Its because they are not quit smoking methods however are simply more products to consume. I wouldnt give up chocolate cookies by drinking chocolate milk, would I?... Champix has a 30% chance of success but at what cost? Mood swings, nightmares and depression are common. Did you know this drug was banned in Europe, due to suicides. Hypnotherapy has the highest rate of success but there must be a downside. It might simply not work for me. In this situation we try again. Following through with your appointments is essential. Your career is not meant to be only money and stress. If you think back over your working life, there will have been many positives that work provides.... It could be that you thrive with: solving problems, serving people, suppprt roles, data entry, expressing creativity, working solo, being part of a team, indoors, outdoors or travelling for work. There are countless possibilities. Work that is too easy, leads to boredom and if too hard, leads to burnout. Is there a middle ground? Human beings thrive with challenge that is enjoyable. If work is currently very stressful, consider these questions: Are they paying you enough to be that stressed? Can you change roles/departments to something that inspires you? What types of challenges do you enjoy? One lady I consulted with mentioned loving her work however lazy management ruined it, actually asking that she lower her work ethic! Can you imagine! THE BODY: How do you physically feel about this person, situation, food or drink? It will either be light, free & wellness OR heavy, yuk & resistant. The body lets you know.... EMOTIONALLY: Is your heart open to this person, situation, food or drink? If its not a clear "yes" then it is a "no." The heart knows. Mentally: Is this person, situation, food or drink adding value to your life? This one takes thoughtful reflection. Is there a genuine value? How much of the behaviour is for instant gratification? Is it adding any value to health, money, family or quality of life? I check all 3 of these when assisting people with transformation. We use your own feedback mechanism to find the path, so you dont have to use willpower. Its just what feels right for you.

Coffee Gambling Speed/Ice... Sugar Phone addiction The above all become less satisfying and more anxiety producing over time. How do I know if a habit is healthy or not? When you feel good afterwards, it's usually okay. Can you use a habit sparingly? Tune in with the habit you're thinking of; how do you normally feel just after? Continuing a compulsive behaviour that causes the following, can be a sign of addiction or at least dis-function. Loss of energy Anxious Regretful Foggy or sluggish The body is trying to break our addiction to what doesn't work. Overstimulation leads to these symptoms. Be mindful of your feelings over the next week and get in touch, if you require assistance.

14.01.2022 #selfmastery Am I a fan of, "fake it till you make it?" Yes, definitely. This is part of the learning process. Confidence is built over time and with repetition, no one has mastery at the beginning.... If you feel like youre faking it, thats great! It might feel weird and uncomfortable but that means you are in a growth phase. Remind yourself that everyone has imposter syndrome at the start, practice will lead to confidence.

13.01.2022 COMPULSIONS AND ADDICTIONS All repressions lead to over-expressions. If you want to change a behaviour, do it the easy way, without willpower. Avoid repressing desire for sugar, gambling, drugs or sex. This leads to over-expressing it later.... Instead, notice what you are really looking for. Are you needing release? Is it to relieve boredom? Reduce pain? Gain pleasure? To fill a void? Explore 5-10 other ways to satisfy this need, to the same degree or higher. This AVOIDS using willpower entirely! You have discovered the easy way to change. Rather than repressing, you can express in many forms. This can be applied to a weight loss example too... A diet is about restricting foods but there are cheat days and blowouts that derail the whole process, leading to no result and lack of motivation to keep trying. Better to find satisfying, healthy, rewarding, tasty foods and cut the junk entirely for the long-term. If eating for comfort, then comfort with: self-nurturing, affection, pets, nature and being soft with yourself. Food should not be a primary or only form of reward. I ate sugar every day for 20 years for pleasure and energy. I took ecstasy for euphoria and connection. I smoked marijuana to bliss out and get high. My reward, Adrenal Fatigue! I can list 50 ways to meet those needs now, that are also healthy. I have this list written down. Are you limiting what is possible for you by using a compulsion or addiction? 09.01.2022 THE STRESS REDUCTION PROCESS When dealing with stress, it's valuable to see what it actually is. Stress is feedback from the body, about your environment. The world's main stress strategy, is avoidance and we know that doesn't work. You can take proper steps to address the cause of your particular stress. ... Use these 5 effective strategies to reduce stress and bring your body and mind back into balance. 1) Resolve The Problem: Solving the problem behind the stress is an ideal strategy to use. As an example, if I had a $10,000 financial stress and then I made $10,000, there is no stress. If you are anxious about health, work on your fitness. If anxious about your marriage, work on your particular issues. 2) Remove Yourself From Stress: We just chatted about solving the problem (where possible), but if there is something that just makes you so stressed, consider removing yourself from that situation. For a pain example, it could involve not doing the repetitive task. For a relationship example, could you do with some space or remove the issue causing the stress? Is there a place, activity, or person you can remove yourself from? 3) Delegate The Stress: Delegating unwanted and time-consuming tasks, is great for business and families. Tasks that are undesirable to you, may be quite acceptable for someone else. Your taxes, doing paperwork, cleaning and child minding are possible examples of things that can be delegated. You can spend a little money to delegate your stress. 4) Change Your Perspective: This can include looking for the 'good' in a seemingly bad situation. 07.01.2022 If wanting better sleep, more energy and an ideal weight the BEGINNING and END of the day, present the biggest opportunity. These are habits to cultivate over a lifetime. There are no quick fixes however things that can be relied upon for wellness. Beginning of the day: Include things that produce warmth and motion to the body.... 1) Walking (for 20-30 minutes) 2) Warm water (with or without lemon) 3) Cooked breakfast (like a no meat omelette with capsicum, spinach and mushroom or toasted muesli with rice milk, cinnamon, cardamom, ghee and nuts) 4) Breathing exercise 5) Enjoy your day The breathing exercise I recommend is Nadi Shodhana. This is designed to distribute fresh oxygen to the body. 07.01.2022 Reflection from David Goggins book, 'Cant Hurt Me.' When in competition or overcoming a challenge, and have doubts, there is one thing that can be relied upon. Excellence. For a struggling relationship excellence could include giving that person everything they've asked for. Yes, there could be hurt feelings but what does that have to do with doing my best? Get up early and make them breakfast and do the dishes. ... Listen to what they are asking for and take care of it. Give them a foot rub and a head massage and a back scratch. Know their love language. Is it, gifts; quality time; acts of service; affection; words of affirmation? Give it. Why would a relationship thrive if I'm being lazy or waiting for the other person to give first? Give that special someone your best. Your actual best. For a job interview excellence can include reading the job description and following their instructions. Be honest with yourself, do you really want this job and care about the business? If you do that's great. If there is a course that will help you get the role, take it. Learn something about the company before you turn up and dress your best. Go in there and blow them away with your effort and care. They'll remember the person who went above and beyond. Excellence doesn't ensure victory. It means I'm running my mind, whether I feel motivated or not. Whether I'm nervous or not. Effort, care and knowledge all help overcome nervousness in any case. Doing ones best is the way forward. Mediocrity is boring and I would never know how much love and success are possible for me, being a lazy person.

He only had peace once the money ran out. - A 60 y/o lady was concerned about sugar addiction. We chatted about how satisfied she was with dessert... She said, Im actually not satisfied 80% of the time! It makes me feel worse. - All smokers I consulted with, mentioned puffing to release "stress and boredom." I ask if they are now free of... stress or boredom? Despite smoking 20-40 times per day, they are not. Those who have the strongest feelings of addiction, are LEAST satisfied. Food is the most discussed topic at my Inspire Hypnotherapy clinic. I aim to take away the stress and misinformation about food, by seeing the whole picture.... See the PDF example on this post for Chocolate. 1) There are positives to eating it. 2) There are healthy alternatives that are more satisfying. 3) The habit causes a negative effect when the dose is too much for the body. Chocolate provides benefits and drawbacks, pleasure and pain, in equal amounts. There are no bad foods and drinks, its about the dose and reaction with your body, that lets you know. When a particular food is overused, the body gives signals to break the attachment: Weight change, feeling sick, hangover, disrupted sleep, lethargy, regretful and asking the question, "Why did I have that much anyway?" If you think back over your whole life so far, there will have been times when chocolate was yummy, tasty or enjoyable AND was also yukky, had a fake taste or left you feeling lethargic. When you really tune into your body and are willing to see the whole picture with food, it cant be addictive. It causes pleasure and pain equally. It is not possible to be addicted to any food when you have a balanced perspective. "Enjoy, choose wisely, and listen to your body."

04.01.2022 Lifestyle and Routine According to Ayurveda: Routine plays a very important role in health. It is advantageous to have a regimen governing all daily actions such as the time one wakes up, body purification and meditation. ROUTINE... Awaken before sunrise. Evacuate the bowel and bladder after waking. If possible gaze at the soft sun for 5 minutes to improve eyesight. Do not take breakfast after 8:00am. Eat in silence with awareness of food. Sleep before 10:00pm. DIET AND DIGESTION Avoid excess amounts of cold drinks. Drink warm water with or without lemon in the morning. Overeating is unhealthy. A teaspoon of ghee in rice aids digestion. Storing water in copper containers can be good for the liver and spleen. PERSONAL HYGIENE Bathe every day for a sense of body freshness. Body odour indicates toxins in the system. Massage improves circulation. Wash hands before and after meals. Do not surpress the natural urges of the body; urination, defecation, yawning, coughing, sneezing, passing gas. MENTAL HYGIENE Fear and worry dissipate energy. 04.01.2022 I just wanted to touch base to say THANK YOU. It’s been 80 days today since I came to your clinic for hypno to quit smoking and 80 days and counting since I’ve had a cigarette. It has honestly been as easy as pie. I don’t crave it, I don’t miss it, I don’t think about it - it’s a nothing to me and I feel completely free. I use an app to track the progress since quitting and the data is as much confronting as it is inspiring, not to mention something I’m so proud of and would...n’t undo EVER. Too many projects started though, can lead to overwhelm, because your energy is scattered. Frodo didnt have 10 things on the go, did he? Return the ring to Mordor, thats it.... Staying disciplined provides no dopamine hit. Its actually the opposite of #addiction. You arent concerned with instant gratification because completion includes both pain & pleasure together. If you tend to start multiple projects and take on more than can be handled, its worth asking, 1) "Can I narrow my focus to 1-2 projects only?" 2) "What is worth finishing?" - Raising a family - Creating art - A higher level of fitness - Devoting to a spiritual process - Writing a book Anything worthwhile will require you to stay the course for several months, years or even a lifetime. Self-mastery is staying for the long run and making small adjustments to your larger vision. Its fun to start new things however thats the easy bit. The glory is in finishing.

They - didn't hear you.... - didn't feel safe. - have very loud self talk/mind is full. - can't muster a response. - don't want to talk. - are in a bad mood. - are socially awkward sometimes too. - aren't a vibration match right now. - are saving you time/not wasting your time. - are focused on an important goal. - are repelled by some small detail about you or their surroundings. - are having a really bad day. - nodded instead. - just said hello to 50 people and don't care anymore. - are sick of being fake nice. ... The next time someone doesn't say hello, don't judge or take it personally. Be curious what is going on for that person. There's nothing wrong with them or you. 01.01.2022 #health #balance #perspective Over the course of your life you will experience equal amounts of pleasure and pain, in all areas. Today Ill explore the BALANCE of PHYSICAL HEALTH. Hair, skin, muscles, joints, teeth, eyesight, hearing, heart, lungs, brain, digestion, sexual organs, arms, hands, legs, feet. Some of these may be functioning at optimal levels but they cannot, all the time.... In each decade Ive been challenged. In my teens I had hernia and appendix operations. In my 20s another operation, chronic fatigue and a broken bone. In my 30s there were new problems, and so on. Look back over each decade and appreciate the areas that worked well and love the lessons provided by challenging physical symptoms. One big blessing with my challenge was getting into the career I love doing now and helping people. If you think back over your whole life so far, there will have been times when health was challenging and other times, it was optimal. "Believing in total health or total disease is a false construct. Support and challenge are consistent over time. That is a balanced expectation for health."
