The Bushfire Science Ro...undtable met in mid-January in Canberra under the Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews MP, with scientists from a wide range of organisations involved in bushfire-related science. The CRC was represented by our Chair Dr Katherine Woodthorpe, Research Director Dr John Bates, and researchers Prof Vivienne Tippet from QUT (Queensland University of Technology) and Dr Geoff Cary from The Australian National University. The CRC is taking a lead role in examining potential technologies to help fire response and management. Congratulations again to Dr Paula Dootson, A/Prof Dominique Greer, Prof Vivienne Tippett ...and Dr Sophie Miller from QUT (Queensland University of Technology) for this great achievement. Their research provides clear evidence of conflicting cues in practice, collates first-hand interview responses from Australian emergency services representatives, and explores the types of strategies that might help mitigate the negative effects of conflicting cues. The OzV...ader Ventilator is in the final stages of testing ahead of seeking TGA approval, with manufacturing set to start in the coming weeks. Our best minds in tech, engineering and medicine are using this project as a way to give back, hoping their work can be used locally and globally to save peoples lives during COVID-19 and beyond. #coronavirus
