20.01.2022 For my friends in the UK that just dont get it.... this is Spains latest emergency overflow hospital in Madrid that has patients already arriving this morning... because the hospitals are full. Madrid has more than double confirmed cases than the next province. From what Im seeing and hearing on the news when Madrid was put on lockdown hundreds maybe even thousands of people decided to leave Madrid and head to their holiday homes on the Costas, which was a regrettable and uneducated decision. Whilst all these people felt well at the time some have already died since arriving and others unfortunately brought the virus on their travels with them. This virus would spread regardless but the process was unfortunately speeded up. On average an infected person can not knowingly infect 10 other people a day....these 10 people then infect 100 people....these 100 people infect 1000 people and so on. The first symptoms can show anywhere from 3 to 5 days becoming more severe a few days after that. Spains president put the country on lock down earlier than Italy did and whilst the numbers of cases are still rising here I think its safe to say measures were put in place to protect us. It is not a recommendation or a request to stay at home it is a Royal Decree Order. Yes we are allowed to go to the supermarket, pharmacy and petrol stations but we must go alone and are asked to only go if necessary and as least times as possible. We are asked to wear gloves, masks and.sanitise hands etc before entering. Leave your house, get everything you need in one go and go back home!! If we are stopped we must be able to explain or prove why we have left our home. Where necessary you can walk your dog, advised to keep it to 50 metres from your house, again you must be alone and if you have a garden dont go out for a walk. Vet clinics are open but again you must go only if necessary and alone. Everything else is closed..... Shops, Beaches, Parks, DIY Stores, Cinemas, etc are all closed!! A week ago there was panic buying, stress, fear, the usual suspects that did not want to adhere to the rules etc but 9 days on there is an odd calmness, peacefulness and solidarity. The Police Officers and Army are here trying to protect us, putting their own lives at risk to enforce the rules during this order and they have sadly already lost some of their colleagues. The doctors and nurses and all the other hospital staff are putting others first whilst on the brink of exhaustion and not being with their own families. The supermarket staff, truckers, warehouse staff are replenishing and keeping the supermarkets running and open. All of these people are either helping us, trying to keep us safe, trying to keep us healthy, ultimately trying to keep us alive. The least we can do is help them by staying in our homes. If you think I am exaggerating look at the numbers, watch the news, listen to what your other friends in other countries are telling you. This virus is serious and attacks without prejudice. Think about how many people have been on holiday in other countries and returned home in the last few weeks. If your government has not put you on lockdown yet then self isolate. Our lockdown which ends next Sunday has just been extended for a further 15 days so it will be at least mid April at the earliest before there is free movement. Get what you need, make sure you have something to keep you occupied and GO HOME!! Thinking of you all xx NEW NOTE: if this photo didnt make you think twice then imagine an Olympic sized Ice Rink as a temporary morgue. Today there are reports of the Ice Rink Palacio de Heilo in Madrid to become a temporary Morgue as all the Municipal morgues and crematoriums cannot cope with all the deceased Heart breaking for all those families and my thoughts are with them Please Go Home and Stay There!! ANOTHER NEW NOTE: It was never my intention for so many people to see this post although I absolutely dont mind. If it helps just one person see the danger then it was worth it. I posted it because I saw friends on here having a night out without a care in the world. I have just watched the UK Prime Minister address your Nation and Im so frustrated. Lockdown is Lockdown!! Holding funerals...what if family members of the deceased are unknowingly infected?!?! Exercising in Public once a day...who could ever police that?!?! Social gatherings of 2 people....aggghhh!!! Low fines for not adhering to rules.... try 600 up to 30,000 as a fine!! The measures put in place are not enough!! Today in Spain they have cracked down even harder. My thoughts remain with Italy who have been hit hardest by this virus and with the UK who still dont seem to comprehend the forthcoming danger. I IMPLORE YOU TO GO HOME, STAY THERE AND STAY SAFE XX

15.01.2022 Watch and learn

15.01.2022 These two greats of the game have taught me almost everything I know about the game by being their rival from when I was 18 years old. Their consistency was unm...atchable and one of the many lessons they taught me and probably the most important one was how to deal with hard losses by coming back even more hungry, stronger and a better version of themselves. I went hard at them from when I was a kid and for that I earned their respect from a young age. Yesterday Youssef completely earned my respect for the way he played and fought but the Beast can lose few battles during the season but when it comes to dealing with me during a whole season, year after year I am going to show you how brutal it is to go to war with me because I can go down for few days during a season but my consistency prevails at the end and that’s what I showed for the last 10 years. The Beast will have this match in his head in every single training session for the next few months and I am not going anywhere. As Nick told me before he retired, we taught you how the sport should be played and now it’s your time to do the same! See more

02.01.2022 Made it to the last 32 at the World Championships in Cairo last week, losing to the world no.11. Unfortunately I was one more win away from playing on this famo...us glass court setting in front of the pyramids! A little story to share from last week though: Minutes before leaving to catch the shuttle bus to my first round match, I hit my head on the corner of the TV cabinet in our hotel room, splitting it open. Next thing I know Im on the floor in tears with a bleeding head. Luckily one of the PSA physios was still at the hotel and came to my room to try and help stop the bleeding. He didnt think it needed stitches but he also didnt have any glue, and we were running out of time, so off I went to the squash club for my match (a 45min drive away) holding an ice pack on my very sore, still bleeding head I got to the club to see the other PSA physio, still no glue. She tried to hold it together with some sterostrips, I tied my hair back over it and by then I had just enough time to tie my shoe laces before taking the court. No warm up. No time to think or get nervous, just had to do my best to play on instinct and refocus. I could hardly believe what had just happened. I had almost flown all the way to Cairo for the World Championships and missed my match because of a crazy accident. Thankfully I managed to play, but it was certainly one of the most bizarre things that has happened to me at a tournament in my life! Afterwards my husband said that I played better after a knock to the head, and that hed be happy to give me one next time Anyway, moral of the story? Sometimes not everything goes to plan and you have to find a way to do your best despite the challenges life throws at you! See more
