19.03.2022 All too often I have people coming to see me with an idea of what look they are after. Majority want to keep things very natural, then some want something completely unrealistic. It’s very difficult as an injector to help patients un-learn misinformation regarding injectables & what they can and can’t do. A large amount of my bookings come from social media; polls/questionnaires I’ve done in the past have shown me that people choose their injectors based mainly on their po...rtfolio of images. This is great! It gives people the opportunity to view their injectors work to see if it fits into their style. There’s one problem though Not all before and after images are genuine. Different head positioning: Even the slightest change in head position can make someone’s face look completely different. Always ensure that the nose, chin, eye level etc are equal. This is most common with lip filler - the before shot is taken from a distance straight on & the after is close up and the camera is pointing up to make the lips appear bigger. Lighting: Good lighting makes for a great photo, but lighting needs to be consistent. Even I can be guilty of this (unintentionally of course) as I have a window and depending on the time of day, the lighting varies. But I really try and do my best to keep it as similar as possible. Editing photos: Yes, it happens. It’s easy to do with apps on your smart phone and can make a world of difference to how a photo looks! How easy is it to polish up a selfie? This is my biggest pet peeve when I see before and afters. Especially jawlines Images immediately after treatment: Sorry! Your lips won’t remain swollen and red. Stop chasing the swell or you will end up looking crazy real quick! Showing us photos with filters: No explanation needed. Moral of the story - know what’s possible and don’t be a dreamer. Listen to the advise of your injector and don’t be fooled by bullshit advertising
