20.03.2022 Just a little positivity today for whatever you choose to focus on that brings you joy and happiness.

08.03.2022 I discovered an awesome kids music artist. I love this song about New York where I travelled to 2 years ago for a week & I loved it. Some of the best things reminded me of Melbourne where I live people, culture, art, food, self expression, fun, vibrant, parks, creative, music, intelligent, LOTS of meditation & yoga. What do you love about where you live, what makes it unique?

01.03.2022 Gotta love this beautiful kangaroo doing a backbend while circling their hands Amazing mind-body connection! What Backbends do you love? Cobra pose, Bridge, Neck bridge. Always warm up before practicing these postures and practice with an adult while you are learning. ... Kangaroo jumps are also great for circulation, warming up the body and strengthening the legs. Bend your knees, paws out in front & jump!!

25.01.2022 A fun yoga memory from my first year of teaching! Awesome kids! Downward-facing dog ... So great for stretching out your arms and legs! Keep breathing calmly and steadily while you practice.

23.01.2022 You can always add a few animal postures to your yoga practice! This weekend I will add koala, giraffe & monkey jumps! Monkey jumps are jumps starting with your legs & hands touching the floor, then jump high!... HUGS

19.01.2022 Lovely write up on kids yoga!

17.01.2022 Think about including flower pose in your practice this week! Sit on the floor, knees bent, stretch your arms and hands under your lower legs and raise your legs slightly off the ground so you are balancing and resembling a flower. Breathe in and breathe out. See comments for a picture of flower pose and enjoy the video.

16.01.2022 I love this radiant heart drawing by a local artist.

14.01.2022 Beautiful India, homeland of Yoga

14.01.2022 Turtles, turtles, turtles A class favourite! Great for stretching the muscles of the legs and back. Warm up with a few easy postures first, eg. half/full butterfly, cat and flower. Then, sit with your legs extended wide, place your hands and arms under your bent knees and gently stretch towards the floor. Keep breathing slowly and steadily while you practice. Gently release.

13.01.2022 Fish posture! A beautiful posture allowing relaxation to flow! Lie down on your back on carpet or on your yoga mat. Straighten your body and slide your hands just under your upper legs. Gently raise your chest slightly off the ground, gently bend backward with your head arching back towards the floor. The top of the head may rest on the floor. ... Stay in the position for at least a few moments, up to one minute, and breathe steadily as you relax and enjoy. Gently release the posture back to the floor. Well done!

13.01.2022 I love this example of kids coming together to speak up and defend their human rights and the world around them that they care about. Yoga practice unites your body, mind & spirit and this is a great place to KNOW yourself and what you think and feel about the world around you. Many yogi’s are humanitarians and we are often connected to our self and to our thoughts of a loving and positive world. ... Many will always stand up for human rights and your right to non-violent freedom of expression. In this case, over time, Donald Trump did start to listen to the kids.....

12.01.2022 A relaxing yoga practice. Repitition of writing a mantra. A great mantra used in many yoga classes is the beautiful sound of OM. ... Find some paper or a yoga or other journal. Write and repeat the mantra as many times as feels good for you (without strain). Enjoy. You could also use a positive word such as love or joy. Or other positive mantra.

10.01.2022 Locust posture A strong and flexible yoga pose! Great for strengthening your spine and back. Lie on the floor on your mat or carpet or perhaps warm grass. Relax your body. Bring your arms in just under your body (or very close to the side of your body). Chin rests gently on the floor. Half locust - Breathe in and lift the left leg slightly off the ground. Breathe out and release the left leg to the floor. Repeat with the right leg. Relax your back and breathe. ... Locust - Breathe in and raise both legs slightly off the floor. 03.01.2022 For any of my lovely kids yoga students that are confident in the easy-medium yoga postures and are wanting to practice the advanced yoga postures. * Please always warm-up thoroughly before practicing any advanced yoga postures with a range of warm-up movements and easy-medium poses. * Clear your yoga space of any objects or distractions. ... * If you are new to yoga practice the easy-medium yoga postures first. Some are here on this facebook page and there are many other resources available. * Remember to take a few moments in a counter-pose after each posture. 9 Advanced Yoga Postures (see article for pictures and step by step instruction). 1) CROW (patient crane) 2) FOREARM STAND (I have not taught this in class yet as children’s bodies are still developing so it is important to learn the other postures first). I suggest SHOULDER STAND as an alternative and enjoy forearm stand as yoga inspiration for the next few years and more. 3) HAND-TO-FOOT POSE 4) MERMAID (pigeon variation) 5) LOTUS meditation posture (or half lotus) 6) MONKEY (splits) 7) SIDE PLANK VARIATION (rainbow 3) 8) TOE STAND (tiptoe pose) 9) WHEEL (bridge) Namaste Always listen to and love your body. Learn yoga in your timing. Start gently building up with grace and strength.

01.01.2022 Dancer posture A class favourite! Also enjoyed by all ages! ... An excellent stretch and balance. Use the wall if you are new to this yoga posture. Also remember when practicing balances to find a focus point to look at while balancing Stand up tall with your eyes looking ahead towards your focus point. Keep breathing in and breathing out as you practice dancer. Bend your right knee and take hold of your right foot. Steadily take your right leg back behind you so that your back gently arches and bring the left arm in front of you, stretched out to assist in balancing. (Or keep your hand on the wall). Hold for a moment or 2 if possible. Gently release. Well done! Now repeat on the left side. Excellent! Om shanti!

01.01.2022 TOEGA! An awesome kids yoga game or exercise and it gets asked for often!! This is a great addition to the game played in class! If you have pom poms at home place them on the floor and have fun picking them all up with your feet. Great for coordination, relaxation and focus. ... Also working with straws and/or your breath is a great exercise too. You could also use cotton wool balls!
