23.01.2022 A couple of nice classics that we recored today. 1....1960s Bedford truck radiator with a crank hole in the bottom tank. 2....FC Holden radiator, had some tank repairs and a new core fitted by our radiator craftsman.... Both radiators are finished high gloss black paint and come with a 12 month warranty. 19.01.2022 An engine conversion normally requires improvements and or modifications to the radiator. This job was for an owner of HZ Holden who swapped a stock 253 Holden V8 for a worked 350 Chev. We fitted a high performance 57mm thick core and modified the inlet and outlet tanks to suit the Chev conversion. If you require a custom radiator please contact us to discuss your requirements

19.01.2022 Another classic radiator that we built today, this time for a Ford XB V8 Falcon. The customer was very keen to have a new radiator built rather than his old rad...iator recored. We were able to locate some brand new brass tanks and fitted these to a 3 row radiator core. A neat fit up was achieved with just the right amount of solder. Once tested the new radiator was again inspected before being painted in high gloss black. Our customer was very pleased with the outcome and was looking forwards to installing it into his XB restoration. 17.01.2022 Engine sawps have been taking place for decades but this particular one really stands out. Mathews 2010 Nissan GU Patrol has been fitted with a Ford FG XR6 (Barra) Turbo Engine and ZF auto gearbox! Tuned to 434HP, (324KW), and 642NM of torque at the tyres running 98 unleaded. The turbo is a Garrett GTX3582R ball bearing unit cooled by a custom built intercooler. There are lots of other goodies under the bonnet and the overall engine bay finish is super tidy. We supplied Math...ew with a custom built copper brass radiator seen in the photos. We again used our trusted 3 row 16mm tube, close pitch core to deliver maximum cooling. Obviously the copper brass core is much stronger than any alloy unit and can be serviced and repaired if needed. 16.01.2022 An interesting sale happened this week, a couple of Queenslanders had imported a motorhome from the UK and had decided to travel around Australia. Sadly they had radiator problems in Alice Springs which is when we received the call. A Peugeot Boxer is relatively unheard of in Australia and the radiator was not something we had in stock. We checked the VIN and compared our findings with what was available through Nissens in Denmark. The radiator was available and after checki...ng compatibility with the mechanic he gave us the go ahead. With a vehicle off road we had no option but to air freight the radiator from Denmark to Alice Springs. Traveling to France, Dubai, Singapore and Sydney and arriving 11 days later at it's destination. Our customer was delighted and the couple are now back traveling. 14.01.2022 This small Kubota generator radiator came in last week. It was in a tired condition and badly blocked internally so cooling performance was poor. We had a new Australian made core manufactured to suit, did some tank repairs then reassembled. It tested 100% leak free so it was painted with several coats of paint and it looks like new!... 12.01.2022 Take a look at this job we have recently completed. Our customer was a bit fed up with the engine in his Nissan Patrol, he needed a bit more power.............Surprisingly he opted for a Cummins 6BT Truck Engine! Obviously when you upgrade your engine you also need to improve your cooling system, so we were asked to build a custom radiator for him.... In typical RD Custom Shop style we selected the best core available, using 16mm tubes on an 8.4mm pitch, we made some custom tanks from 1.6mm brass to fit to the core. The fittings needed to be on the same side of the radiator so in this particular case we made the radiator 2 pass with a baffle in one of the tanks. The whole unit was assembled using soft solder and silver solder, then painted black. Our customer was delighted! Take a look at the photos and see for yourself. Need to talk about radiators? Interestingly ...most of the front end was based around the 6 cylinder model however a factory V8 Cleveland is under the hood and the car is all original. The radiator was recored with a 3 row radiator core to make sure this beast keeps its cool. We love our Aussie classics and love repairing and fixing the radiators that go in them.
