25.01.2022 The Federal government has dictated that after hours medical services such as Radio Doctor Illawarra are no longer able to communicate directly with the public except via our website www.radiodoctor.com.au So to all our Facebook friends, please be assured our service continues bookings ph 42285522 but we will be forced to close down our FB page shortly.

25.01.2022 This Anzac Day public holiday we are open from 7am and available 24 hours over the weekend. Our Doctors are available to provide home visits for all non-flu/Covid-19 illnesses. 25.01.2022 As school holidays begin and more travel restrictions ease remember to follow the public health rules (hand hygiene, physical distancing, cough/sneeze away from people) and lets keep Covid away.

24.01.2022 We want to keep non-critical people out of our Emergency Departments not simply employ 'technicians' to manage increasing demand. After hours, home visits by actual medical doctors is the sensible, cost effective solution. They triage, diagnose, treat and, if necessary, refer to the ED and should be well supported by government health policy.

22.01.2022 Due to proposed changes by the government it has made it difficult for us to get sufficient doctors to meet current demand at certain times. We apologise for the inconvenience. We would appreciate your support in a campaign to keep our service operating. Please visit the website protecthomevisits.com.au to read more about the proposed changes and join over 107000 other people in signing the online petition.

21.01.2022 An unfortunate incident for our service but thanks to our police and fire for their quick response and support. No-one hurt and car is repairable.

21.01.2022 Radio Doctor recommends that you don’t put off or delay medical screening or treatment. The Radio Doctor home visit, after hours medical service is finding that people are currently delaying essential medical advice or treatment. This can mean their condition can worsen considerably by the time they are seen and then require more urgent and serious medical attention. Recent Australian data also shows that many people are deciding not to seek medical treatment or undergoing r...ecommended tests or preventative healthcare screening such as bowel, breast, cervical, prostate cancer and diabetes. This may be due to anxiety about catching the coronavirus (Covid-19) in healthcare facilities, not wanting to burden medical or emergency services or being pre-occupied by other more pressing concerns. Although some restrictions and procedure changes have had to be made due to the pandemic, Radio Doctor Chairman, Dr Bryant encourages people to seek medical care if something is not right and maintain disease prevention screening. Most GP’s and after hours services like the Radio Doctor are ready, willing and able to provide the primary healthcare services you need either in person or via telehealth Dr Bryant said.

21.01.2022 Remember to follow the public health rules (hand hygiene, physical distancing, cough/sneeze away from people) and lets keep Covid away.

07.01.2022 Current guidelines on when to wear a mask

06.01.2022 Some good advice in this article to reduce the spread of the flu this year by good hygiene, getting the flu vaccination and staying home if you catch it. Radio Doctor will visit you in your own home and this may avoid an unnecessary trip to the ED. Keep in mind the flu can be very serious, especially for the vulnerable such as babies, children and the elderly - so seek professional advice early.

04.01.2022 A really positive and important story.

03.01.2022 Thanks to all of you who supported the 'Protect Home Visits' campaign this year. We did win some important changes. Nevertheless as we head into our 44th year of service we still have some real challenges ahead.

03.01.2022 In March this year the government made cuts and policy changes to after hours, doctor home visits. We feared these changes would drive more people to our local Emergency Departments and this seems to be happening. After hours, home medical visits are a sensible, cost effective solution to this problem.
