14.01.2022 From PVAW Thank you so much for your continued support of PVAW’s aims. Whilst I have been a little low key recently due to increased work demand, our effort and momentum has been maintained by our other fabulous volunteers. The landscape for advocacy and awareness of violence against women has taken a real and devastating blow of late. With only Our Watch left standing in the Prevention space at a national level, it is critical that we continue our initiatives locally.... But that means we need your help. We have been developing the illuminate to eliminate campaign to coincide with the United Nations 16 days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign. Our campaign vision is detailed below. Please consider being the contact at your workplace to get this underway - its success relies on people like you standing up and speaking out. Vision: Commencing on the 25 November, PVAW will be shining a light on the 45* women and girls killed by violence this year in Australia. Through a simple, yet powerful display, together we can remember and pay homage to these women. We will illuminate the national epidemic of Domestic Abuse that Australia is experiencing and eliminate the silent acceptance of abuse in our homes, on our streets and in our workplaces. For 16 days, in workplace kitchens across the country, we will create a powerful tribute and provide a daily reminder of important Domestic Abuse statistics. This will raise awareness and encourage thought, discussion and action. We honour the women who have tragically lost their lives to violence and hope that they now rest in peace. *current as at 26 Oct 2019

13.01.2022 In response to the pandemic Coronavirus (COVID 19), the management committee has decided (after listening to and discussing the views of team captains and others) to make significant changes to this year’s RADV. With the projected increase in coronavirus cases in WA as we head into our winter months, we believe it is not possible to hold the normal Busselton to Perth ride over two days. Thus, we have decided on the following:... 1. To hold a single day ride, commencing and concluding at Parliament House on Sunday 7 June. Route will create visibility to raise awareness without community contact. 2. We will aim for minimal third party group gatherings on the day, limiting this to a control event at the conclusion for representatives from the refuges and family member. Our approach is to manage the situation in a balanced way that takes into account all government advice and requirements. As such we would like to stress that the single day ride may need to be changed in response to changing circumstances. However, we believe the decision we have reached should minimised the need for that to occur. And finally, thank you for supporting 2020 RADV. This is a very worthwhile and much needed charity event.

02.01.2022 The first refuges weren't pretty but nessessary. It is sad that 50 years later they are still needed but at least we can change the state of these places and the services they offer by continuing to donate to them. Keep up the fundraising. To donate go to www.radv.com.au

01.01.2022 It's with great regret and a heavy heart that we have to announce that RADV20 is now cancelled. Our riders have worked hard to collect donations up until this point. What has been collected will be distributed to our refuges to assist where we can in this trying time. We would like to thank everyone and we looking forward to working with you all next year. Stay safe and remember to reach out of you need help.
