19.01.2022 DownsSteam is back! Our Drayton Museum & Workshop Precinct will be reopening from 9am on Saturday 20 June 2020. Further details, revised opening hours and COVID-19 conditions of entry will be available soon.
19.01.2022 Railway Museum Opens on Sat 6 June! We are pleased to announce that our museum will reopen from 10am Saturday 6 June, and will continue to open every day therea...fter, between 10am and 4.30pm. Please understand that due to COVID-19 restrictions there are several key issues that are important to understand and appreciate. We are only permitted to have a maximum of 80 visitors on site at any one time, and as people leave more can be let through. Based on our past statistics, we believe the 80 maximum will work as a restriction. Due to the large areas within the museum, we have prepared our COVID-19 Safe Plan to align with restrictions, so our large veranda area, and several of the aisles within the main display pavilion can each have a maximum of 20 people at the same time (subject to a maximum of 80 on site). Some of the carriages will remain closed, in addition to a couple of the narrower aisle ways, due to confined spaces and safe distancing. The theatrette and the Fluck pavilion will also be closed. However the main Fitch pavilion will be open, including the three display cells; the Model Railway, the Railway Operations and the Women in Railways. These three display cells will be restricted to 5 people maximum at any one time.....so as people come and go; there should not be any long delays. Our small train will be running (no cost to ride), with a restricted maximum of 20 people on board for any one train. The groups of 4 will be positioned at the end of each carriage. The middle compartment of each carriage will remain closed. This arrangement has been sanctioned by authorities. Throughout the museum there will be plenty of sanitising stations, and safe distancing signage ie 1.5m apart and 4sq.m per person in enclosed area. Please respect these instructions. We do hope you will understand these temporary arrangements, as we are desperate to reopen but safely much to the delight of our supporters! Phone - 8341 1690 between 10am and 4pm.
17.01.2022 It saddens us to see this vandalism occur to the Mary Valley Rattler at Gympie, north of the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Please share this footage around so these people can be caught. It would be good to seem them stand up in front of all the volunteers and staff at the Rattler and apologise to all!
16.01.2022 A message from the President. Hi Everyone As I am sure you have all heard that there are some further easements of restrictions to the COVID-19 restrictions hap...pening this week and over the next few weeks. This is good news and it shows that we are all doing the best we can to get back to some sort of normality. So keep up the great work, However, our doors are not yet open to the public and we are not ready to start running trains just at the moment. Our volunteer crews have been busy keeping in line with all the social distancing rules, working on various projects including track work, maintenance on locomotives and ongoing restorations as you would have seen from some of our posts. We need your help!! I had hoped to come to you with a video link, but due to circumstances beyond my control I have had to write this press release, my apologies for that. Whilst we don’t have a return date set just yet it is hoped that maybe in the next few months we can start running passenger trains again and also look at some of our famous events such as Thomas the tank engine weekends. As I am sure you can appreciate even though we are not running services we don’t have an income and we still need to pay the bills and keep the lights on. Being a not for profit (NFP) organisation this has and is exceedingly difficult for us, (As I am sure it has for many organisations and companies). We are putting out an appeal for people to please help us maintain our wonderful railway so that you can again one day enough a ride along the shores of Swan Bay and the rolling hills of the Bellarine Peninsula. We currently have several projects that need to continue during the shut down to secure our return, these include ongoing maintenance for our locomotive and carriage fleet. One of our biggest challenges we will face when we do return is being able to help families ride our beautifully restored trains and maintain social distancing at the same time, we can do this with compartment carriages and modifications. Would you please consider helping The Bellarine Railway? Please visit out web site and head to our donations page. (We are unable to post direct link with our Facebook posts at the moment.) We will keep you update with the progress of the railway and we look forward to the day we can welcome you all once again. Kindest Regards Steve Dalton President The Bellarine Railway
13.01.2022 MERRY CHRISTMAS.....From our families to yours...... We would like to send you all the very best wishes and joy for the season and hope you are all coming together with family and friends this year to celebrate a wonderful Christmas. We do ask you to remember the people around Australia who may be affected by fire, drought and other circumstances that may make it incredibly and understandably hard for them to enjoy this year's Christmas.... Take the time out during your day to give them a thought or better still make a donation to a charity of your time or money over the coming weeks. Keep safe, share a smile with a stranger and have a very Merry Christmas. Martin and all the crew at Beyond the Vine Tour Group. Beyond the Vine Wine Tours South Coast Wine Train Rail Tours Australia
