25.01.2022 To all our paddlers who didn't come to town for the regatta-that-wasn't-last-weekend Shawsy Hotel would have had Saturday night sorted. Dinner 5.30pm... Live band Heaters! We would've been snug Paddle raffle would've been drawn. Next year
24.01.2022 Off to our happy place
23.01.2022 As we return to "COVID-normal" after our regatta-that-wasn't-last-weekend .... BIG SHOUT-OUT to our generous sponsors Hope to see you ALL fighting fit @ 2021 Rainbows Regatta.
22.01.2022 Excellent start to the weekend.... Tide change, zig zagging into power boat wakes, northerly up early made for some smashing times .... We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves
22.01.2022 I wonder where the Rainbows Xmas Mini-regatta is? Could it be where Rainbows are accessorising with Xmas bling? And a bloke walks around with pants on his head? And there's a lot of food? And there's a coffee truck?... And grandchild getting in on the fun? And a lot of laughter? See more
21.01.2022 Thanks all for great day on the water with like minded people.... KIN, Rainbows, Akuna, Currumbin. Safe to say we had a fun day shared by all! #mtwarningdragonboatclub
21.01.2022 Second shift- off to their happy place
18.01.2022 Finding water to paddle was extra challenging with a low Low LOW tide
16.01.2022 Now the pointless reminder to bring water bottles & keep cups to the Regatta-that-wasn't-last-weekend. Last year - waste was reduced by 60+% BRILLIANT EFFORT ... See more
16.01.2022 Not quite a pooch parade BUT a top job of workin' the rainbows & pooches in these crazy times
16.01.2022 Rainbows started the festive season with a mini club regatta at Ballina. New paddlers got a taste of competition paddling and veterans welcomed the revival of racing. All looking forward to the day we get " back to normal" and the excitement of racing other clubs
14.01.2022 The Xmas-regatta finale was the "dress the queen" race (a homage to Christmas on the Creek). The Queens awaited their boats, they're dressing by their plebs then "tenderly" flung into their boats for a sprint out around a buoy... then "placed" back upon their "thrones." Note: no sweep argey bargey occurred during the event - NOT See more
12.01.2022 Strangely quiet at the Regatta-that-wasn't-last-weekend
11.01.2022 How to have a regatta when you can't have a regatta.... have a Rainbows mini-regatta! All the thrills of rollicking wind conditions, rubbery rules, random team selection AND mandatory coffee truck... P.S credit to Kay T for many of these photos
11.01.2022 The regatta-that-wasn't-last-weekend's lack of results in the State of Origin.... Does that mean NSW holds the trophy for 2 years running?
09.01.2022 Rainbows introduced dragon boating to Summerland Christian College students & teachers. First rule: Look good in the boat. They did awlright
07.01.2022 Another COVID-19 casualty was the Bunnings Sausage Sizzle community fund raiser. A big shout out to Bunnings for their support for Rainbow Dragons fund raising efforts. Thank you!
07.01.2022 Today, Rainbows should have been competing in the 500mt races at the World Titles in France. Covid caused a change of plans. River paddle at Ballina next best option.
04.01.2022 Home again home again First time back on the lake in 2020. Last year, the drought meant Rainbows had moved training to North Creek, Ballina. This year, rains have been good & the lake was filling when lockdown started.... Days are getting longer & afternoon sessions on the lake begins. Happiness.... Rollicking spring nor-easterly & finding our favourite vistas in the last light.
01.01.2022 Preparations for the regatta-that-wasn't-last-weekend
01.01.2022 Important things after paddling... coffee #mtwarningdragonboatclub
01.01.2022 Not quite a regatta, but the first time Rainbows got to paddle with other clubs since Covid began. An excellent training session on the Tweed River with magnificent Mt Warning as a backdrop. Paddlers from Tweed, Currumbin and Mur'bah to race against and sweep accreditations happening followed by tasty lunch. Almost felt like a normal world.
