23.01.2022 Emotions were running high on the trails today - tears, cheers, pain and elation. As runners crossed the finish line, they had their own stories, whether it was their first race or they ran in memory of a loved one. For Bli Bli gym manager Thomas Foster, today's half marathon was his first foray onto the trails and, despite a few ankle rolls, he was beaming. Running has become his mental tonic, and a chance to be alone and focus. His good mate Freddie (pictured), who convincced him to test out the trails, also enjoyed the run but shed a few tears for a friend going through a difficult time.
18.01.2022 Photos from the weekend's run are now available for purchase. Amazing moments on the Carlo sand blow and finish line captured by Steve @ SOK Images. Thanks for a great day to everyone involved.
16.01.2022 Only 18 seconds between first and second place in the full marathon today. Congratulations to @RG Silveno who came home first in 3.55.00. Second place went to Andrew Hill 3.55.18 and third to Matthew Wood 4.03.43.
14.01.2022 WOMEN'S HALF MARATHON Our half-marthon mums had their number one fans waiting at the finish line - their gorgeous children. First place-getter Elly Marie whizzed home in a time of 1.52.31. Well done also to Michelle Bremer in second (1.59.55) and Lauren Ormsby in third (2.00.42).
14.01.2022 What was your time, who did you beat, who else was racing? Results from today's trail festival are on the website https://www.runqld.com.au/results-rainbow-beach
13.01.2022 WOMEN'S 11km. It was a great day for the 11km ladies, setting the pace with Siobhan Sefton in first (59.06), Emily Petty in second (1.08.04 and Madonna Pirfisud in third 1.27.44)
13.01.2022 MALE HALF MARATHON. Not bad for his first trail event, eh! Congrats to Paul Gourlay who burst onto the trail running scene with first place in the half marathon, a cracking 1.35.14. Tim Garrett slammed it home in 2.02.23 to take second and Phil Hodge 2.12.57 rounded it out in third.
13.01.2022 MEN'S 11KM. It's a hard and fast race, and this year John Robbinson came out on top with a time of 55.57. Flying along the sand in second was Adam Hall in 58.22 and third was Trevor Allen in 1.01.51.
13.01.2022 If you loved Rainbow Beach on the weekend then you might wanna give this a go - a new addition to @TheBlackall100 this year with a 21km event on a new course. Check it out below!!
02.01.2022 Age is no barrier to the trails, just ask Sheryl Street, 67, (right) and Jill Curtis, 68, from the Caboolture Road Runners. Sheryl was thrilled to finish the 11km in under two hours which was her goal, completing the gruelling course in 1.49.44. "I pull up pretty well which is great for someone at my age to be even doing it," she laughed. Sheryl has been running for about three years but also does gym. Jill was also all smiles after completing the half marathon in excellent time.
01.01.2022 Some fast times in the women's marathon, despite the sand, hills, hills and sand! In first place, Ella McCartney ran like the world was flat, crossing the finish line in 4.04.22. Second place went to Carol Robbinson in 4.06.17 and third went to Kristin Bjerregaard in 4.07.16.
01.01.2022 Tales of ankles rolling and piggybacks from today's half marathon. When Rachel Brain toppled over on the single track, she wasn't left to fend for herself. A shout out to all the runners who helped her out including Nick Kermeci who piggybacked her until a group of half marathoners came along to share the load, taking it in turns to carry Rachael back to the 5km checkpoint. Thanks to those who also stopped to offer a bandage and alerted the checkpoint crew. An unforgettable first foray onto the trails for Rachael and a moment to reflect on the great people in this sport.
01.01.2022 Here are a couple of pix to close another fanstic day at the Rainbow Beach Trail Festival. Mother Nature put on a show for Cathy Hunt and David Stevens in the marathon, running up the beach towards Double Island Point.
