Births, Deaths and Marriages have published a policy for trans and gender diverse parents wanting to change their parental descriptor and name in their child’s birth record (and certificate), after altering their sex descriptor in their own birth record. The policy also applies to adult children of a trans or gender diverse parent wishing to update their parent’s details in their own birth record. We welcome all new and prospective LGBTIQ+ parents in this transition period, whether your pathway to parenthood includes adoption, pregnancy and childbirth, surrogacy, or other means.
