23.01.2022 The Box Rallies Family couldn’t be prouder of its founder, James Freeman who was awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia yesterday for his service to the comm...unity through fundraising. The Order of Australia recognises Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievement. James’ OAM is a great personal honour because his late father John was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for services to aviation. James started the rally in memory of his parents who both passed away from Cancer within 12 months of each other. It really is an incredible honour and I am extremely grateful to everyone from the rallies over the years that have supported what we have done and continue to strive towards. said James Box Rallies is a credit to the participants. Everyone is a giver. For someone who came up with this crazy idea and 11 years on, the rallies have raised over $23 million (and counting!) for Cancer research, we really hope you are proud. From all of us James, congratulations.

22.01.2022 BOX RALLIES GRANTS ANNOUNCED We are very proud and excited to announce the research grants which have been funded by Box Rallies from the funds raised in the 20...18/19 fundraising year. The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) is the pinnacle for vital funding from ground-breaking cancer research projects. They are Australia’s most prestigious health and medical funding body and are funded by the Australian Government through the Federal Budget. There are over 2,700+ health and medical applications submitted for NHMRC funding every year, but their budget only goes so far. Previously, Box Rallies was able to fund multi-state research projects via Cancer Council grants. From 2019, Box Rallies & Cancer Council have taken a new approach one that means Box Rallies now funds the most outstanding cancer research projects nationally. For the first time, Box Rallies has funded the next highest ranked grants after the NHMRC. This means that Box Rallies is now funding some of the most exciting cancer research projects across the country with the highest potential to significantly impact those affected by cancer. The 2,700+ applications submitted to the NHMRC are put through an extremely rigorous process of review to whittle the list down into a ‘ranked list’ of the best research applications in the country. Whilst this ‘ranked list’ have been assessed as ‘fundable’ only the very, very best, the top ranked applicants from any State or Territory in Australia will be funded by Box Rallies via Cancer Council. Through the monies raised from the 2018 2019 fundraising year, Box Rallies are funding 7 grant proposals up to $450,000 each. Summaries of these are listed below. The grants are awarded in March each year, so we look forward to seeing how the funds raised in the 2019/20 fundraising year continue to support our best national cancer researchers.
