21.01.2022 Important Announcement regarding the 2020 SSSA Season, relating to COVID-19 The SSSA Executive Committee wish to advise that Weeks 1 -12 of the 2020 season have... been cancelled. The season will now begin at Week 13 of the current draw (9 June) . Earlier today, the ABSC realeased this statement,regarding all events and related activites. https://absc.com.au///3/16/absc-position-on-covid-19-virus After careful consideration, SSSA feel that it is in the interests of everyone's health & well-being to follow their lead and delay our starting date. Whilst our team events are very small, we are still visiting venues with larges numbers of patrons and numerous touch points - potentially exposing our players unneccessarily. Especially considering the older population we have within our association, who are already at a higher risk, we feel that this decision is the most responsible for all of our teams. Of course, we are all very disappointed and apologise for the inconvenience, but we're sure you all agree that the health of our players, spectators and everyone within our snooker family, is the most important thing now, and always. For anyone that still wishes to play socially, we urge you to follow these guidelines, as provided by the ABSC: - It is recommended that people reduce personal contact with others whilst competing at events. - Players and officials are also reminded to observe good hand hygiene, and to cover all coughs and sneezes. - If two players wish to engage in a shake that will be up to them, but nobody should be offended by a refusal it is simply following the advice that has been given by health authorities. - If you are sick with flu-like symptoms, stay at home. Penalties for withdrawing on the day of a tournament will be waived if you need to self-isolate. We thank you for your understanding & support.
