22.01.2022 Diversity Week | Athletes of UNSW - Ben Lexcen scholar and 2019 UNSW Indigenous Athlete of the Year Triston Reilly is one of the ...University’s hardest working athletes. As well as training with the NSW Waratahs extended squad for the Investec Super Rugby, he is one of community partner Randwick Rugby’s biggest names, playing a huge role in their success in first grade this season. Triston is studying a Bachelor of Arts at UNSW, managing to achieve excellent marks in a difficult year. A proud Dunghutti man from Northern NSW, Triston played a key role in Randwick Rugby Club’s Indigenous Round this year, donning boots designed by his uncle Richard Campbell. The two main features of the boot are the two totems that are on the left and right boot, he said before the match. The right boot has the praying mantis, which is my spiritual totem. It’s important to the Dhungutti people as it looks after us all, no matter if we’re on country or not it’s my grandfather’s totem as well. On the left boot is the goanna, which represents my grandmother. She’s from the Wiradjuri tribe which is out in Western NSW, near Dubbo. Having both totems is important to me as I’m wearing them because I’ll have the spiritual connections with my grandmother and grandfather. Credit - UNSW Sport

04.01.2022 Vale Belinda Jackson (Sing) Just when you thought the ‘annus horribilus’ that is 2020 would just go away quietly, it lands one more devastating blow, this time to one of our most respected families. Sincere condolences from all at Randwick Rugby, go to club legend Alan Sing and his wife Alina on the tragic passing yesterday (December 30) of their daughter Belinda, after a titanic battle against cancer. ... Sadly, Belinda was aged just 38. It’s been an incredibly difficult period for the Sing family, as this dreadfully sad news comes hot on the heels of Alina’s mother, Onorina passing away recently. It’s tough at any time for a family to lose loved ones, but not being able to farewell and celebrate their lives surrounded by those closest to them, makes it even more difficult with COVID restrictions now back in place. For those not aware of Alan’s monumental achievements with us, he was a diminutive half-back, who played 241 Club Games for Randwick between 1972-84, including 200 First Grade matches and was member of 7 First Grade premiership winning sides. Most notably Alan is a very humble man and one of nature’s absolute gentleman, so the loss of his beloved daughter in the prime of her life, has been a huge shock to our entire club. To Alan, Alina, her brothers Steven and Jason, her husband Ray, her children, Cooper, Kai and step-son Bailey, extended family and many friends, we extend our deepest sympathy and best wishes. Alan has asked me to thank his many, many Galloping Green mates for their outpouring of love and support already shown at this time its greatly appreciated by him and the entire Sing family. RIP Belinda. God bless you, your family and many friends. Up the Wicks! Mark Harrison General Manager Randwick DRUFC

01.01.2022 COVID UPDATE Round 11 v Norths Postponed. Dear Supporters,... Due to further COVID restrictions imposed today by the Premier of NSW, the Sydney Rugby Union (SRU) has suspended Round 11 of the Shute Shield and ALL premiership games in Grade, Colts and Women’s competitions are postponed. In terms of Randwick Rugby, this unfortunately means our Round 11 games against Norths at Coogee Oval and Latham Park, plus our women’s match against Sydney Uni are all off. There is a lot moving pieces right at this moment, which as a club we are trying to get our heads around so we will keep you updated. For clarity the game is not canceled, but postponed, therefore it will be rescheduled as soon as it is possible to do so. For those that have specifically bought a single day ticket for tomorrow’s game at Coogee Oval, you will be automatically refunded in full as promised. Please allow a couple of days for this process to happen. We apologise for any inconvenience but it is completely out of our control. Keep well and keep safe everyone. Up the Wicks! Cheers Mark Mark Harrison General Manager Randwick DRUFC
