25.01.2022 It has been a difficult few weeks for many small businesses and there is still a long way to go. If you have a business Facebook page, Instagram, website or even just a name, comment here and tell us about it. 24.01.2022 There is just something about the smell of a rose isnt there? For centuries these beautiful flowers have been used as symbols of love and beauty and their oil has been distilled for its captivating aroma. It has numerous benefits including emotional support, boost libido, relaxation and improving the skin. In 2010 German scientists noted that pure rose oil assisted with the skins absorption of nutrients when added to beauty products. But why the hefty price tag? The answer lies in how labour intensive it is to produce this magical oil. Did you know it takes up to around 20,000 roses to produce just 10ml of oil? WOW! #pureessentialoils #aromatherapy #essentialoils #relax #massage #aroma #essentialoil #naturalhealth #relaxation #diffuser #rose #roseoil #loveyourskin #feedyourskin #benefitsofnature

23.01.2022 When we recommend essential oils to alleviate stress, uplift or help emotional wellbeing, we often recommend diffusing or vaporising the essential oil so that it will be inhaled. This is because your nose is such a powerful tool. Simply put, information about what you smell is sent via the olfactory bulb to the limbic system, which is the part of the brain that controls memory, feelings and emotions. This in turn can then help send messages to other parts of the brain and the... body which, when received can then result in the release of neurochemicals that have euphoric, relaxing, stimulating or sedative effects. So when it comes to having a healthy, balanced mind, its all about what the nose knows! #lovenature #naturesmedicines #wellness #benefitsofnature #gonatural #healthyliving #natural #naturalhealth #chemicalfree #pureessentialoils #aromatherapy #essentialoils #relax#aroma #essentialoil #relaxation #diffuser

19.01.2022 We have all heard of Hippocrates and the Hippocratic oath, the vow of ethics historically taken by physicians and often attributed to him. But as far as healing with nature goes, the man really knew his stuff. He was born as long ago as 460BC and considered by many to be The father of Medicine. Revered as a great physician and teacher, he had his own medical school on the Greek island of Kos and travelled extensively to teach. He had a strong belief that disease was born out ...of an imbalance of what was known in ancient times as ‘the four humours’ - Saguine (optimism), Choleric (irritability), Melancholic (sadness/depression) and Phlegmatic (calm, composure). Therefore, he reasoned that good health could be restored by simply correcting the disharmony, and that as these imbalances were caused by environmental elements, poor diet and unhealthy living habits. If all these things were addressed, the body had the power to heal itself. His medicinal approach involved a combination of the healing power of plants and rest and relaxation. Many of the plants he refers to in his teachings are still widely used in holistic medicine today, such as rosemary for hair growth, mint in a compress for headaches, hypericum for healing cuts and burns and oregano in an inhalation for respiratory ailments. He also had a high regard for massage and thought it to be something all physicians should know how to do. Now we aren’t in any way belittling the importance of modern medicine, but we do love his philosophy of looking to nature first and think his approach definitely gives a strong foundation for helping to maintain a healthy, happy life. Here are a couple of our favourite Hippocrates quotes: Let food by thy medicine and medicine be thy food Leave your drugs in the chemist’s pot if you can heal the patient with food #naturesmedicines #wellness #benefitsofnature #lovenature #gonatural #healthyliving #natural #naturalhealth #aromatherapy #essentialoils #essentialoil

18.01.2022 Clays are often talked about when making face masks and body wraps but have you thought about giving your hair the same tender loving care? Clay masks can be a great way of cleansing, and toning the scalp, or easing itchy, flaky conditions and boosting circulation to promote hair growth. They can also help reduce greasiness and improve your hair’s natural shine. Simply mix together equal parts clay powder and a liquid of your choice (e.g water, aloe vera juice, apple cider v...inegar) and mix together. Avoid using metal bowls or spoons as it could cause early activation of the clay reducing effectiveness. You can also add a couple of drops of essential oil for an extra boost. Apply to damp hair thoroughly coating all the hair from root to tip and leave for approx 15-30mins covered in a shower cap. Then rinse out and shampoo and condition as normal. Just a note though, clay is very drawing and can leave hair feeling a bit dry, so use a really good conditioner and leave at least a week between applications. #lovenature #naturesmedicines #DIYbodyproducts #hairmask #claymasks #benefitsofnature #haircare #naturalhaircare #gonatural #healthyliving #natural #diy #naturalhealth #chemicalfree #pureessentialoils #frenchclay

16.01.2022 With so much washing and sanitizing going on, hands are suffering. Doctors everywhere are seeing an increase in hand irritation and dermatitis. Commercial, mass produced soap is full of synthetic ingredients and chemical detergents that can dry out and damage your skin. So the best way to protect your hands at home is to stick to using natural soap bars made with lovely moisturising oils that can help to nourish your skin while cleaning them. As an added bonus doctors in the US are now saying that while liquid soap is effectual, soap bars are even more effective during this pandemic as they contain fat which is incredibly effective at breaking down the virus. We just wanted to let you know that we are now stocking Sodium Percarbonate in store for pick up in 2Kg tubs. This water soluble powder also known as Oxygen Bleach, it is a powerful bleaching agent that is colour safe, kind to most fabrics and brings back dulled or yellowed whites to life. Excellent as a pre-laundry soak for heavily soiled garments, it i...s effective at a wide range of water temperatures. 09.01.2022 With social distancing in place and the need to keep everyone, especially our older Australians safe, there are going to be no Anzac Day services this year. Instead, everyone is being encouraged to pay tribute to our veterans by standing outside on our driveways or verandas at dawn and lighting a candle. We love this idea and hope it gathers enough momentum to truly honour the sacrifice and dedication of our service men and women. If you are planning on joining in, why not add a little Rosemary for remembrance. You could make the candle yourself, or simply grab a candle and either add a couple of drops of essential oil to the melted wax at the top once it is lit, or wrap a couple of sprigs around it. ABC Radio will broadcast a special short Driveway Dawn Service at 6am.

09.01.2022 Now that the weather is warmer, it is the perfect time to think about using essential oils as natural deodorants and body fresheners. Using essential oils with antibacterial and deodorant properties in baths, showers, deodorants, sprays and body products are a brilliant way to keep you feeling fresh and smelling great. Tea tree for example has antibacterial, anti-fungal, antiviral, antiseptic and antimicrobial properties, making it an excellent oil for stopping odour causing ...bacteria in its tracks. Essential oils with Astringent properties such as Rosemary or Lemon could help to reduce sweating. Clary Sage is a strong antibacterial and deodorant as well as good for soothing for the skin. Peppermint is another good option with its cooling properties as well as its antimicrobial benefits. Lemongrass, Lavender, Eucalyptus Peppermint, Thyme, Bergamot, Orange, Lime and Mandarin are all also great options when it comes to fending off those unwanted odours. 09.01.2022 Varicose veins are caused by faulty valves, or structural abnormalities of the blood vessels failing to effectively circulate blood from the legs to the heart. According to the Australian Vein Institute, there are various essentials oils that can be useful in helping to reduce swelling and ease pain. Here are some of the top ones. Rosemary and Cypress oils can stimulate blood circulation and encourage blood flow, helping to reduce swelling and heaviness. Geranium oil is also ...an oil known for its use with circulation and skin conditions. Lavender and Frankincense oils can be of benefit with their anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties, and there are a number of other Phlebotonic essential oils which could also be included, such as Neroli, Lemon, Grapefruit, Tea Tree, Niaouli, Spikenard and Patchouli. Add your oils to carrier oil and apply gently to the leg just above the affected vein. Avoid massaging or applying to the vein directly as it could cause further vein damage or possible blood clot release, risking pulmonary embolism. #varicoseveins #lovenature #naturesmedicines #wellness #skinfood #benefitsofnature #skinhealing #healthyliving #natural #naturalhealth #pureessentialoils #aromatherapy #essentialoils #essentialoil

08.01.2022 Winter is upon us and coughs and colds are rapidly spreading through schools, so it’s important to remind our little people to regularly wash their hands. They need even more encouragement to put their hands under cold water on a chilly day and many of us know how repetitive it can become. So here is an idea that may make the journey to the sink that little bit easier. This recipe adds the nourishing benefit of Jojoba oil and shea butter, with the gentle cleaning properties o...f Lavender and Mandarin essential oils. Topped off with a little surprise incentive. Take a 1Kg tub of clear melt and pour soap. Cut it into cubes and divide it 2 piles,1 with 300g of soap cubes and 1 with 700g. Put the 300g pile into a glass bowl and either place over a pan of boiling water or put into the microwave. Stir regularly until melted. Do not boil. Remove from heat and allow to cool before adding 6g Jojoba Oil and 5ml Lavender essential oil. Fill your chosen mould about a quarter of the way up, allow the bubbles to rise to the surface and lightly mist spray them with a tiny bit of denatured ethanol to remove. Leave for approx 45mins to allow it to set firm. Then place your chosen treat, such as a plastic toy or a coin into the centre of the mould on top of the layer of set soap. In a fresh bowl add the other 700g pile of soap cubes, 8g shea butter and 2-3drops food colouring (optional). As before, gently heat until just melted stirring regularly. Allow to cool and add 5ml Mandarin oil. Carefully pour into your mould until the treat is completely covered and again spray the bubbles at the top with the denatured ethanol. Leave to set (4-6hrs). Once hard, pop them out of the mould and admire the result. Then simply leave a soap bar in the bathroom and wait for the hand washing fun to begin. Added oils or butters can be changed depending on your personal preference and it’s so easy to make you could even get the kids to help! #soapmaking #funforkids #funwithsoap #soap #meltandpoursoap See more

06.01.2022 In the spirit of staying positive, here is just a bit of Autumnal visual therapy for you all this morning.

04.01.2022 Xerotic Eczema, also sometimes known as Winter Itch is caused when dry skin gets so damaged it becomes eczema, usually during the Winter months. Generally the limbs and trunk of the body are the most affected. The skin becomes very dry, cracked and flaky, which is often sore and itchy. There are numerous essential oils which could help. Petitgrain, Lavender or Sandalwood have soothing properties to help ease the itch and allow the skin to heal. Anti-inflammatory oils such as ...German Chamomile or Tea Tree can help the rash to go down and Frankincense is an excellent oil for rejuvenating dry skin and promoting healing and skin cell regeneration. Palmarosa is another good choice as it helps to moisturise the skin, regulates sebum production and can also stimulate cellular regeneration. These oils can also help with any infections that may arise due to broken skin from scratching. Mixing a few drops of the above oils with a nourishing carrier such as Avocado oil, and either adding them to a lukewarm bath along with a spoon full of baking soda, or gently rubbing over the affected area can be very beneficial. #loveyourskin #skincare #lovenature #naturesmedicines #naturalskincare #wellness #skinfood #benefitsofnature #skinhealing #feedyourskin #lovenature #gonatural #healthyliving #natural #naturalhealth #chemicalfree #pureessentialoils #aromatherapy #essentialoils #essentialoil See more

Eucalyptus Peppermint is preferable to regular Eucalyptus (globulus) for a childrens blend because it is more gentle and has no known contraindications. Eucalyptus not only can be stimulating and therefore not sleep inducing, but it is also rich in cineole which, according to Tisserands Essential Oil Safety, can cause central nervous system and breathing problems in young children. So this our little people friendly, gentle bedtime blend to sooth away those sniffles. #kids #cold #flu #health #naturesmedicines #wellness #benefitsofnature #lovenature #gonatural #healthyliving #natural #naturalhealth #chemicalfree #pureessentialoils #aromatherapy #essentialoils #aroma #essentialoil #diffuser

01.01.2022 A Blend for September: The first signs of Spring are here! The gum trees are flowering, the scent of native blooms fill the air, and with the arrival of warmer days plenty of us are looking forward to hitting those bush tracks and enjoying exploring the nature trails and national parks in the sunshine. The combination of warm and wet however, make it peak tick season. So with that in mind, our blend for this month is a tick repellent to help protect explorers and their dogs f...rom these unwelcome pests. Based on an article by RN and Registered Aromatherapist Sue Pace on the Tisserand institute website, here is a blend for a research based tick repellent. 20ml Geranium Oil 20ml Cedarwood Virginian 10ml Vetiver This will make a 50ml bottle that can then be used to make clothing spray using denatured ethanol and distilled water, body gel using aloe vera gel or added to a carrier oil and applied to dog collars and the base of the tail. Please note this blend is not suitable for Cats.
