23.01.2022 Year 11 students have completed their last Service Project day at Yarra Glen Primary school for the year. They were able to finish off the GaGa pit for the students to enjoy. The pizza oven is half way to bricked and will be finished by next year’s cohort. The front garden beds are ready to plant. The Yarra Glen community are so grateful for the contribution we have made this year, despite the challenges we encountered with Covid. Well done Ranges TEC Year 11 team!

18.01.2022 VET Hospitality students had fun making cakes and decorating using different techniques, including fondant colouring, folding and moulding as well as chocolate garnishing, piping and the use of ganache. They also used a variety of different icings of their choice. The results look fantastic!

17.01.2022 In our Building and Construction classes, we're almost done with the practical assessments. We've done Scaffolding, Construct a basic roof frame, Install Windows and Doors, Interior fixings (including hanging a door, architraves, skirtings and lining boards) and some Demolition work. It will be great to see the students make it over the finish line after a challenging year, especially for a highly hands-on course with a big part of the third term learning remotely! Well done B&C class!

14.01.2022 Last Friday the Ranges TEC staff team were able to celebrate the Year 12 Graduating class along with those in Year 11 who are finishing their time at Ranges TEC. We enjoyed a meal together during which students received graduation gifts along with a speech. These speeches are a highlight every year with plenty of emotion and laughs dispersed amongst them. It was nice to see the students enjoying themselves but it also gave the staff at Ranges TEC one last chance to show the students how valued they are to our community and how much they will be missed. As our graduating students go out into the world, our hope and prayers go with them, that they will be filled with wisdom in their decision making, find joy in all they do and continue to grow into the amazing young adults we have all seen glimpses of during their time at Ranges TEC.

14.01.2022 Year 11 classes are working on a number of projects at Yarra Glen PS. Last week they finished off the chicken fence by hanging the gate. The first row of sleepers for the octagon-shaped GaGa pit was joined together using the custom-made plates that students had fabricated in the workshop. Two students worked on the pizza oven and welded on the frame for the brickwork after adding ceramic insulation and another group of students started building new planter boxes at the front of the office. They have made quite some progress. It is a privilege for our students to be able to work on their service projects in partnership with Yarra Glen Primary School.

13.01.2022 Students had a fun day last Friday, playing with horses and learning training techniques. They taught the horses how to kick the giant soccer ball; but in order to do that, they had to be in control of their own emotions and fears so that the horses could pick up on their mood and have confidence themselves! It was a great learning experience for all!

13.01.2022 Alexi welded up a storm last week! Check out the result!

13.01.2022 Mel learnt how to do an Acrylic Pour Paint as part of her Toolshed Challenge during the remote learning period. This awesome work is currently displayed in our reception area. This is just one of the ways our students have adapted, making it possible to complete their VCAL outcomes.

13.01.2022 Last week, the Year 10 Ranges TEC teachers had the opportunity to visit several students on work placement. It was good to see the many smiles and hear positive responses from employers. Well done Year 10 students!

09.01.2022 The wheel tread was deep, the excitement was high and the ‘air’ was massive last Tuesday on the Year 10’s annual Mountain Biking day. As part of the Ranges TEC Sport and Rec program, 30 students and staff drove beyond Melbourne’s recently removed ‘Ring of Steel’ to the stunning Buxton Mountain biking. The morning was spent climbing the hillsides through the thick bush and rainforest and enjoying the berms (hillside curves) and jumps on the way down. Staff rode with teams of ...students and remained paired in skill level groups. Some students got to experience the challenge and adventure of climbing a mountainside on two wheels for the first time. In contrast, a few experienced riders got to show off their talents on the black runs and jumps. It is always so special to see people shine in their passions and mountain biking is a passion for many of our cohort. Well done to all riders! You persevered in the dust and blue skies and achieved a great thing. May we never shy away from challenges and instead push through them, growing in character, stamina and resilience. See more

03.01.2022 As part of the end of year activities, last Thursday, Year 10's experienced ‘MudSlide V2.’ It was longer, faster, deeper and had 2 ramps, making for the greatest year 10 mudslide experience Ranges TEC has ever had. Students were catapulted into the dugout dam and landed in the well coloured muddy water of the Monbulk hills, almost embalming them red. It was pretty much the perfect day!

01.01.2022 No more practice runs! This is Evie's real commissioned furniture making project for a real client!
