20.01.2022 Blue Mountains businesses have experienced the quietest Christmas period they have known. Many small businesses and boutique hotels rely on the Christmas rush to prop up their business through the rest of the year. Some businesses have closed down, and many are hoping this last week of school holidays will bring tourists to tide them over. Thanks to the RFS, the mountains villages and National Park walks remain mostly untouched by fire. The waterfalls are gushing and the waterholes are full from the recent rain. Please, if you have been thinking of visiting the Blue Mountains, do it as soon as you can. It is heart-breaking seeing people in our community work so hard on their businesses, just to have to close their doors because of the fires. Thank you.

14.01.2022 After much research, I found that goats are used by UK councils for weed control. They are also used for fire hazard reduction in Spain and California. I hire the goats from Mudgee once a year to munch around the property as it’s a great chemical and free-free way of keeping the land in order.

Stop-motion footage of the fabled Phantom Falls over Narrowneck Plateau this morning.. smoke fro...m yesterday’s hazard-reduction burn further down the mountain has settled over Katoomba due to an inversion layer. Here it is seen seemingly flowing over the Narrowneck peninsular, down into the Jamison Valley like a waterfall. See more
