23.01.2022 Day 5 and all going well so far. I am remembering the right day and so far not repeating myself too much. "Jade Pillow " is another beaded and machine and hand-embroidered cushion. Reflecting the Jade found in the Australian gem fields. Genuine Jade chips were used to enhance the machine embroidered tree. This cushion can be purchased from 'Ravenscroft Textile Studio'. $50.00 plus postage. The picture shows the Jade tree and the Opal trees together.... #mandurah #casm #waroona #wag #wam # wafta #pinjarra # art #textile #art See more

23.01.2022 16th November "Open Studio" event at Ravenscroft. Visitors came from as far away as Yokine ,Mandurah and Bunbury plus the locals who dropped by. This has been a good outcome not only for the various artists that live in the shire but is has a knock on effect for our town. Lots of info about the Shire and its attractions has been passed along via the brochures from the visitors centre and Mandurah Arts Festival. Ravenscroft will be open again tomorrow between 10 am and 4 pm,883 Dorsett Road just off the Forrest Highway. Take a Sunday drive and enjoy seeing the studios and meeting the creative people who live in this area, you will be pleasantly surprised.

22.01.2022 Another successful "Open Studios" day at Ravenscroft. A very warm day but aircon does the trick. A surprise visit from three of our newly elected Waroona Shire councillors, thank you, Laurie Snell, Karen Odorisio and Naomi Purcell with daughter Tess who is otherwise known as Blossom. Tracy Goldsworthy the manager of the Waroona Visitors Centre who organized the visit, drove the ladies out to the farm. There were plenty of supplies of flyers and brochures to give to studio... visitors who may not be aware of all that Waroona has to offer. Much appreciated ladies. My studio is open again on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th November between 10 am and 4pm. Just follow the signs on Coronation, Dorsett and Forrest Highway. (Please remember this is a working farm if the gates are shut it means cattle moving is in progress just give me a ring and I will come and rescue you 0478 228 393.)

22.01.2022 As I was unable to post whilst up north on holiday( thanks to you Telstra, NOT) I well let you all into the secrets we have to share in WA. The colours of the rock, the sky and the pleasure of travelling this glorious state. The sheer enormity of the distances travelled are worth it when getting to the far north. Here are a few of my pictures, I hope you enjoy them. Starting at Carnarvon, north of the 26th parallel. Lovely old houses and cottages that have somehow survived the many cyclones that have occurred.

17.01.2022 Sewing classes for this young lady today. We made a European pillow slip so it would match her room. Chloe has come such a long way with a few lessons and has done a fabulous job! This pillow cover was completed in just over 2 hours. If you would like to learn how to make these, give me a call!

13.01.2022 After nearly six weeks in self-isolation, I have resolved to catch up with my Facebook entries, thank you, Neroli Pich, for giving me a good push I certainly needed it. Last year was a busy year at Ravenscroft Studio: sewing lessons, workshops, and open studios certainly kept us on our toes. I would like to thanks all the Waroona artists and townsfolk who graced me with their company on the open weekends. I think they had fun and maybe learned a few tricks of the trade whi...lst tucking into my good neighbour, Sandie Goodchild's baked goodies, Other visitors came from further afield, Roleystone, SIngleton, Mandurah, North Perth, Yarloop, Pinjarra and Ravenswood to name a few. Thanks to Tracy and her crew from the Waroona visitors center for bringing out two carloads of interested visitors on two consecutive weekends. That's what you call dedication. Lots of photos were taken, lots of laughs and great sewing talk. The open studios weekends were organized through Mandurah Shire and CASM ( Contemporary Art Studio Mandurah). My thanks go to the organizers of this event, it takes weeks hard work and toil to get this off the ground and has been a great success all round. Here are a few photos of my visitors - Well known textile artist Trudi Pollard and friends from Armadale and surrounding suburbs. What a thrill to meet Trudi. A lady with such an interesting back story and so so talented. I have the ambition to be as good as Trudi in my textile work, and as one never stops learning I hope to get to some of her workshops sooner rather than later. Good friend Gayle Bukey (also known as Mrs. Bucket by me and my twisted sense of humor). Such a great friend and fellow art tragic from Ravenswood. I will be posting more photos of the visitors to the studio in the coming weeks and some of the work I have been creating over the last 12 months. Enjoy .#art #textile #mandurah #casm #waroona #WAM #waroona #pinjarra #waroona #craft #textiles #fabric #sale #craft #mandurah #textiles #art #print #sewing
