24.01.2022 Another epic day with TRC's Ultimate Disc League (frisbee football?) Just check out the talent! This could definately be a 'thing' and it would be great to see a local league (humans actually get full time jobs playing Ultimate Disc and it is set to become an Olympic event)...and btw, I am good . We have been donated a Ultimate Disc kit (all the goodies to start our own teams) so the sky is the limit Sadly our turn out in Garnet was . Come on guys...we will keep trying... and have left an Ultimate Disc kit with Mt Garnet School. The Ultimate Disc Team were amazing. Huge high five and also a big callout to Silas Walker for the Acknowledgement of Traditional Owners. You Rock! Ultimate Disc is funded by the Qld Government and Tableland Regional Council. P.s. sorry about the photos I haven't flipped...fri night

21.01.2022 Thank you Julie for our hearts. They were distributed pretty quickly and it’s always lovely to see them floating around on desks and shop counters. There’s been a fair bit of regifting too. We have one little heart that seems to travel around the office, visiting whoever needs a little extra kindness. One little heart can make such a difference

13.01.2022 Ravenshoe Community Centre Centre staff and volunteers would like all of their clients and the whole community a happy and safe Christmas. We'd like to remind our community that while most people see Christmas as a festive time that they look forward to, for many people Christmas is the saddest and loneliest time of year. Please be KIND

10.01.2022 Nearly dark enough to start movie. Popcorn and fairy floss time

09.01.2022 We have so many great small businesses in our region and an absolute smorgasbord of cottage industry and marketeers. We really got to see how people thought out of the box when selecting places to get gift vouchers in our Harmony Day colouring in competition...what could of just been $50 turned into family events and projects and people rediscovering their local businesses. People were thoughtful and not only about what they wanted, but what they liked to do (young people often get the core of matters ). Most of the businesses in town will happily organise gift certificates.

09.01.2022 Hey Bellview and Cassowary. Recent rain has increased the turbidity (cloudiness) of the water source for the Cassowary and Bellview areas, which means we are un...able to adequately treat the water supply. We have a limited amount of treated water in the reservoirs but residents must reduce consumption to avoid running out and being placed on a boil water notice. Stay up-to-date on the latest water information by monitoring the media and signing up for the Early Warning Network https://bit.ly/2KWAgpE.

08.01.2022 Always something happening at Ravenshoe Respite and Social clubs...where do you get all these amazing ideas Kylie?

06.01.2022 If we learnt anything during the COVID lockdowns it was that having basic digital skills comes in extremely handy and not only helps with basic survival (access to services, shopping, banking, information), it is also a precious social tool. Digital Skills for over 50’s is being facilitated by Yabu Mija in the Yabu Mija training room at Ravenshoe Community Centre. Kym has been facilitating Be Connected in Ravenshoe for the last 3 years and invites all community members over 5...0 years to these FREE classes. You don’t need to sign up for a course and you don’t need any skills at all (It doesn’t matter if you can’t turn on your phone...that’s lesson 1). You choose what you want to learn and we go from there. Digital skills classes are every Friday from 9:30. We hope to see you there! The Be Connected Network and Learning portal is a great backup and support...if you can’t make it into the centre, it is worth checking out! See more

03.01.2022 Does everyone remember seeing The Lion King on the giant pop-up screen at the community centre last year? What a great night! We are doing it again. This time we are showing Disney's A Christmas Carol starring Jim Carey. We will be screening on the last day (night) of school and we couldn't think of a better way to start the school holidays and get together as a community (now that restrictions are lifting). We will serving up delicious hamburgers and steak burgers (we have ...200 burgers available so best in best dressed). So bring your picnic rugs, your pillows and your chairs to join us for another great community event. Huge shout out to Yabu Mija and Lions Club for manning the BBQs for us. Thanks to TRC for supporting Community Connections. This event is funded through TRAIC (Tackling Regional Diversity through Integrated Care) Community Connections program.
