25.01.2022 Sharp knives are safe knives! It might seem counter-intuitive, but having a razor edge on your kitchen knife gives you a lot more control. That means you don't have to apply as much pressure on the knife, leading to fewer slips and nasty accidents.
25.01.2022 Julie in WA recently sent some knives our way, as well as this pic - looks like she had some help with the packing process!
24.01.2022 Thanks to Janie Borrill for sending this great picture through from rural South Western Australia! She is one happy customer because she now no longer squishes her home-grown tomatoes thanks to us sharpening her knives!
24.01.2022 Knife tip #5 - know which knife is for what. This is a chef's knife, it's the workhorse of the kitchen knives - a real utility. They're usually 15-25 centimetres long and are used to peel, chop and slice all kinds of food.
23.01.2022 Most people's main experience with cleavers probably comes from horror movies, as they're not a staple in the average kitchen - but they are a must for anyone that regularly cooks large cuts of meat and needs to "cleave" through meat and bone. Despite their bulk you can get them sharpened via sharpening by mail - our custom packaging protects the blade to make sure they get back to you in top nick.
23.01.2022 Who knew the back of the knife or 'spine' had a purpose? So often the functionality of the spine is overlooked but it's actually REALLY important! Are you guilty of scraping your knife along the cutting board to transfer ingredients to the pot or pan? I know I am ... Well, doing this can actually dull the blades edge! Plus it can catch tiny parts of the chopping board and scrape them in with your food But the spine of the knife is dull and flat which allows you to perfectly scrape your food away without leaving anything behind! By utilising this technique we preserve the blade and our chopping boards, plus we minimise on waste! Who is going to use this technique from now on? #funfact #hottip #importanttopics #factoftheday #tipsandtricks #tipoftheday #sharpeningbymail #razoredgesharpening #razoredge #knifesharpening #knifesharpeningservice #knifesharpeningday #knifesharpeningbrisbane #knifesharpeninggoldcoast #knifesharpeningmelbourne #knifesharpeningsydney #knifesharpeningperth #knifesharpeninghobart #knifesharpeningadelaide #smallbusinessowner #smallbusinessaustralia #smallbusinessowners #smallbusinesses #supportsmall #supportsmallbusiness #supportsmallbusinesses #sharpblade #sharpblades #toptip #importanttip

18.01.2022 Knife tip #3 - Storage. Do NOT chuck your knives in the drawer to clunk around with all the other cutlery. Store them in knife block, or a knife holder in your drawer where the edge is protected - ideally with an edge guard!

14.01.2022 Knife tip #4 - make sure you have a safe workspace when using knives. That means removing clutter from the area, making sure the surface is stable (especially as chopping boards can warp over time) and getting rid of distractions - no trying to watch Netflix while cutting! If you have a slippery or unsteady chopping board, placing a damp tea towel underneath it will help stabilise it.

11.01.2022 Our longest order to date came from Janie Borrill in WA. Her knives travelled 3,700 kilometres from Yallingup, three hours south of Perth, to the Gold Coast. We gave them a razor edge and sent them right back! Janie had her knives back just four days after sending them our way. And by all reports she is delighted with the results! She sent us this pic of her freshly sharpened knives.
11.01.2022 This is John, the man behind Razor Edge. He's been running a successful mobile sharpening business on the Gold Coast for a while now, servicing local butchers, restaurants and individuals. Not so long ago he came up with the idea of a sharpening by mail service. He researched the best ways to package knives in the mail and worked with Aus Post to develop the safest and quickest way possible for customers to send him knives, and him to send them back. Now you can get your kniv...es professionally sharpened and only have to go as far as the post box. We promise you'll notice the difference the moment you slice into something with your freshly sharpened blades! You can order online at www.razoredge.com.au/sharpeningbymail
09.01.2022 We've now fulfilled orders from every state and territory except Tasmania and the Northern Territory! Anyone from those parts of Australia want to be the first?
09.01.2022 Did you know that storing your knives properly is extremely important in keeping them sharp and safe. Throwing them in a draw with other utensils, will blunt them very quickly.
09.01.2022 The man behind Razor Edge, John, caught up with QLD ABC radio last week to talk craftsmanship and getting on the tools. Our friends at nuvismedia captured the audio and put it to some pics - you can have a listen here
08.01.2022 Thanks for all the support and kind words coming our way! We are so happy to hear you are loving what we are doing. We are doing our absolute best to fulfil orders as quickly as possible, but please note there are a few Australia-wide postage delays happening with Australia Post right now. Thanks again and keep those blunt knives coming our way - we cannot wait to return them to their former glory!

A quick sharpen and you'll be back to chopping in no time Let us know if you try this at lunch today! #chef #sharperissafer #sharpeningbymail #razoredgesharpening #razoredge #knifesharpening #knifesharpeningservice #knifesharpeningday #knifesharpeningbrisbane #knifesharpeninggoldcoast #knifesharpeningmelbourne #knifesharpeningsydney #knifesharpeningperth #knifesharpeninghobart #knifesharpeningadelaide #smallbusinessowner #smallbusinessaustralia #smallbusinessowners #smallbusinesses #supportsmall #supportsmallbusiness #supportsmallbusinesses #knifesafety101 #sharpblade #sharpblades #toptip #toptips #importanttip #chop
04.01.2022 Knife tip #2 - knives should get a professional sharpen every 6-12 months, but honing steels are a great way to keep them keen in the meantime. It's interesting to know that they don't actually sharpen the knives, but rather, reshape them - which is why your knives still need a proper sharpen every now and then. There's a heap of great 'how-to' tutorials on YouTube, here's one of our favourites - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rxp1oaShIvI
04.01.2022 This is John, he's the man behind the sharpener! John runs Razor Edge mobile knife sharpening on the Gold Coast, and recently had the idea of a knife sharpening by mail service. He put in the hard yards to develop custom packaging that protects your knives and makes it as simple as can be to pack and deliver, and get back to you as soon as possible!... Don't persist with blunt edges - order online now at www.razoredge.com.au/sharpeningbymail
04.01.2022 This is the machine that does a lot of the heavy lifting at Razor Edge. The CATRASHARP is a specialised sharpening tool that leaves an incredibly high-qualty, razor edge on your knives. We bought ours from the UK and have been loving it ever since it arrived!
03.01.2022 Meet the butchers knife This knife is also known as a cleaver. It's large rectangular shaped blade makes it one of the broadest and heaviest knives! It's kinda in the name, isn't it? This knife is often used to work with raw meat and is a butchers favourite! With the design being so large and heavy it makes it easy to chop through bone ... One of our favourite uses of the butchers knife is using the blade to crush garlic or ginger, the blade just makes it so easy! Do you use a butchers knife when prepping meat? #butchersknife #chef #sharperissafer #sharpeningbymail #razoredgesharpening #razoredge #knifesharpening #knifesharpeningservice #knifesharpeningday #knifesharpeningbrisbane #knifesharpeninggoldcoast #knifesharpeningmelbourne #knifesharpeningsydney #knifesharpeningperth #knifesharpeninghobart #knifesharpeningadelaide #smallbusinessowner #smallbusinessaustralia #smallbusinessowners #smallbusinesses #supportsmall #supportsmallbusiness #supportsmallbusinesses #knifesafety101 #sharpblade #sharpblades #toptip #toptips #importanttip #chop
03.01.2022 Stop squashing tomatoes all over the chopping board with blunt knives! After a high-quality sharpen they will cleanly slice right through them. Order online at www.razoredge.com.au/sharpeningbymail
02.01.2022 It might seem counter-intuitive, but sharp knives are safe knives. A sharp edge gives you much more control. You don't have to apply as much pressure on the knife as you slice, reducing your chance of slipping and having a nasty accident.
02.01.2022 Knife tip #1 - do NOT put your knives in the dishwasher. This brings tears to the eyes of sharpeners across the world. Knives in the dishwasher clank around with other cutlery causing damage to the blade and handle, and the soap and temperature in the dishwasher is harsh on sharp edges. Wash your knives with warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly and dry straight after to maintain the best condition as long as possible.
