30.04.2022 Congratulations to Troy Wright who today will play his 300th game for Riana when the A Reserve take on Natone at Wivenhoe. There isn’t much that Troy hasn’t done at the club as a long term committee member, sponsorship coordinator, current Vice President, and even stepping up into the role of President when required on occasion. Troy played a pivotal role in the 2016/17 A Grade premiership, and also played in two A Reserve premierships in 2006/07 and 2013/14.... Troy has taken 301 wickets with best figures of 6/9, predominantly opening the bowling, and picked up his 300th wicket last week to steer his side to a thrilling win as he captains the A Reserve this year. He has a top score of 82 which came when he opened the batting against Somerset during the 2010/11 season. Congratulations on a fantastic achievement Troy! #MAROONCOUNTRY

12.03.2022 Round 16 Report by James Radcliff and Will Braid. It was a win in both grades that played over the weekend with the A Reserve and Colts getting back-to-back wins. A Reserve had a tight win over West Ridgley getting the job done by eight runs. Batting 1st it was a 96-run opening partnership from Troy Wright 29 (45) and Steven Murfet 82 (98) that set the tone for a big score. Handy contributions from Brendan Hull 30* (31) and Jan Venter 21 (42) got them to a very good score ...of 230 of 50 overs. With the ball in hand, West Ridgley were able to build partnerships throughout the innings and the game looked to be getting away with West 3/188 but from there Troy Wright 3 for 37 off 9 and Steven Murfet 2 for 44 off 10 were able to cause a collapse with West Ridgley losing 5 for 29 and eventually running out of overs to chase down the total, only managing 222 of 50 overs. The game also marked Pink Stumps Day which is to raise awareness about breast cancer and breast care nurses through the McGrath Foundation. Riana wore pink hats and pink stumps were used for the game to show respect for the cause. The Colts had a thrilling win over Penguin managing to defend 149. Sent in they were in trouble at 4/55 at 20 overs but a gutsy and incredible knock from Max Hay 39 (121) held the innings together and contributions from Jason Ling 59 (40) and Tom Radcliff 31 (40) helped post a score of 149 off 40 overs. With the ball it was Jonti Dolting 2 for 13 off 4, Ian Townsend 2 for 14 off 6, Mark Moore 2 for 27 off 5 and Jason Ling 2 for 23 off 7 who managed to take wickets regularly and bowl Penguin out for 122 of 33.3 overs. The win keeps a top 2 spot alive. This report was brought to you by Creative Bill #MAROONCOUNTRY

24.01.2022 This years B Grade Fielding Award has been won by The Peoples Champion, Darren Simpson, who also took out Jack Thomas Captains Award for their successful 2019/20 season. Simmo ended up with 4 catches and 3 run outs this season, including the shared run out with Peter Finch that sealed the 2019/20 premiership for our B Grade. He also chipped in with the bat and ball, scoring 86 runs @ 21.50 with a high score of 27 Vs Acton in Round 10, and taking 8 wickets at 26.88, which ...included best figures of 3/16 off 8 overs against Stowport in Round 13. Simmo will do absolutely anything asked of him on game day. He trains the house down and, besides winning flags, loves nothing more than getting A Grade batsmen out at training. Congratulations on yet another successful year Simmo! #marooncountry See more

23.01.2022 Our final A Grade Award is the 2019/20 Captains Award, which Kirk Hampton has awarded to Dylan Costelloe. After a year off cricket, Dylan ventured up to the Maroons and immediately had a positive impact on and off the field. In his first game, Cossie managed 3/8 off 5 overs in Round 6 against eventual Premiers Forest Stanley to help bowl them out for 70. He finished with 12 wickets @ 14.50, including best figures of 4/18 off 6 in the win over West Ridgley in Round 12. Adding... his T20 stats, he totalled 19 wickets @ 15.00 for the season. Cossie showed excellent value on and off the field by being the ultimate team man and filling any role required of him, including looking after our English import David Big Mans Monkton. He was always enthusiastic on the field, regularly racking up a 20,000 step count, and had good banter to back up the longest follow through a medium pacer has ever had in the history of cricket. Congratulations on a great first year at the Maroons Dylan! #marooncountry See more

22.01.2022 As part of NAIDOC week we would like to acknowledge that the game today is being held on the traditional lands of the Tasmanian Aboriginal community the palawa mob. We pay our respect to Elders past and present, and to emerging leaders of the palawa people. These Elders hold the memories, the traditions and living culture of Indigenous Australia. Today we also pay tribute to and acknowledge the first Aboriginal cricket men's team that left our shores in 1868 led by Johnny M...ullagh. The journey by boat took three months and whilst in England they played 47 matches, drew 19, won 14 and lost 14. These warriors paved the way for us cricketers of today. This land was and always will be Aboriginal land for all Australians to share and play cricket on. Pictured: Riana & West Ridgley A Grade sides participate in a Welcome to Country lead by Riana Head Coach and Aboriginal Education Officer Guy Chalky Grey before their match today. #MAROONCOUNTRY

22.01.2022 We would like to congratulate Dougie McCallum on playing his 200th game for the Riana Maroons in A Grade’s win over Stowport yesterday. Dougie is a two time B Grade (A Reserve) premiership player but his biggest highlight is without a doubt his best on ground performance in the 2016/17 A Grade premiership. Congrats Dougie!... #MAROONCOUNTRY

20.01.2022 Today we focus on our A Reserve award winners for 2019/20. First up is the Best & Fairest and Batting Award which goes to our A Reserve captain, Stu McKellar. Stu led from the front this season in a frustrating campaign that had many washouts and a couple of narrow losses to see them just slip out of the finals race at the end of the roster season. Stu managed 2 x 50s this year, with a top score of 82 in the win against West Ridgley in Round 5, and always struck at a strike ...rate of close to 100. He also chipped in with the ball, managing 7 wickets @ 15.57, including figures of 3/6 off 6 against Penguin in Round 6, and took 4 catches for the year as well. Congratulations on another super consistent year Stu! #marooncountry See more

19.01.2022 This year our A Reserve leader, Stu McKellar, has awarded his Captains Award to Michael Gee. Michael has been super consistent and dedicated for the past 3 seasons, starting in the B Grade in 2017/18, but quickly finding himself a permanent member of the A Reserve, and also regularly featuring in the A Grade. This year, like many, he managed just the 7 games due to washouts, and a love for travel and adventure, including 1 A Grade game. He took 8 A Reserve wickets @ 16.63, i...ncluding best figures of 3/32 against West Ridgley in Round 12, and also took 1/13 off 4 in his sole A Grade game for the year. He also snared 6 catches in the field. Congratulations on another consistent year Michael! #marooncountry See more

C Grade (Colts) captain Please send applications to: [email protected] Applications close on: Monday 15th June This coincides with our AGM which will be held at 7:30PM on Monday 15th June at the Riana Cricket Club (restricted to max. 20 people and social distancing to be practised).

18.01.2022 Our next award is the 2019/20 Spirit of Cricket Award which has been awarded to Michael Grady. Michael rarely missed a training session this year and always gave 100% in the nets or out on the field on game days. He played 4 B Grade games for the year, including the Qualifying Final, and 2 Colts games. Congratulations Michael! #marooncountry

17.01.2022 Our next award is the A Reserve Bowling Award which goes to Connor Day. Connor had yet another solid year with the ball in hand, managing to take 13 wickets in 7 games @ 14.31, including figures of 4/14 off 6 against West Ridgley in Round 5 to set up a 62 run win. The left armer often put opposition top orders on the back foot by bowling tight spells and forcing the errors to claim early wickets. Congratulations on a fantastic season Connor! #marooncountry

17.01.2022 Congratulations to the Riana Cricket Club, the Community Partnership Winner for 2019/20. As shared earlier in the year, the Riana Cricket Club produced a mammo...th effort to raise much needed funds for the bushfire devastated Kangaroo Island, including a whopping $31,000 for the Western Districts Cricket Club, and a further $10,000 for BlazeAid. This unreal achievement was reached by through the running of the clubs annual farmers auction, which hosted live cricket and music to engage the broader community to participate and donate to a much-needed cause. This initiative demonstrates the importance of the cricket community partnering together through hard times. Congratulations to the Riana Cricket Club volunteers. What an absolutely incredible gesture from a small country cricket club in Tasmania.

17.01.2022 A big Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there! Thanks for playing cricket, bringing your kids, and making our club, league and community such a special place. Cheers dad! ... #MAROONCOUNTRY

17.01.2022 The Riana Cricket Club is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Bailey Carter. Coming through our Colts program, Bailey played several games with his father Scott, before playing predominantly in the A Reserve and B Grade sides. He was a fast bowler with a whippy action and an aggressive lower order batsman. A talented sportsman and athlete, Bailey became A Grade player #218 in Round 1 of the 2017/18 season at just 14 years of age, a week before his 15th birthday.... Bailey was universally loved by all at the RCC. Our thoughts are with Scott, Julie and Ella at this incredibly sad time. #MAROONCOUNTRY

16.01.2022 The Riana Cricket Club would like to wish Hayden Ives a massive Happy 30th Birthday for yesterday! To celebrate, a surprise 10-over match was organised today at the club between Haydos’ family and friends, including Riana players, with Haydos captain of one team and his great mate and our T20 captain Callan Mann leading the other. Haydos was the star with an unbeaten 55 in the first innings in a thrilling match that ended in a draw. We can’t thank Haydos enough for his cont...ribution to the club as Chairman of Selectors and his continual support at training and matches for all grades. Happy 30th Haydos! #MAROONCOUNTRY

09.01.2022 Our next award recipient is Stephen Schumann, who has taken out the A Grade Bowling and Best in Finals Awards. Shoey ended up with 19 wickets this year @ 14.58, including an incredibly important 5/38 in the Elimination Final against Natone, helping to restrict them at the back end of their innings and allowing us to chase down 199. He also took 2/16 off 9 in the Preliminary Final win against West Ridgley and, although finished wicketless in the Grand Final, only went for 24 r...uns off his 10 overs. After leading the Colts to an Elimination Final, which they unfortunately lost, Towna stepped up to help out the B Grade in the remaining two finals after also helping them out during the roster season. Towna managed to take 12 wickets in his 3 B Grade games, 7 of these coming in the 2 finals they won on their way to the premiership. 08.01.2022 It was a great day for the Maroons yesterday with wins in all four grades, topped off by some wonderful individual performances. Tim King constructed a magnificent 137 off 100 balls in A Grade’s 30-run win over Stowport. Tim had a patient start before accelerating in the back half of his innings, scoring his last 65 runs off just 28 balls and bringing up his ton with a six. It is Tim’s sixth century for Riana, his fourth in A Grade, and his highest ever score. Well done TK! I...n the A Reserve, James Carpenter spun his way to 6/34 from 10 overs in their 6-wicket win over Stowport. Jim took five of the top seven wickets to stamp his authority on the game on his way to career best figures. Well done James! #MAROONCOUNTRY

08.01.2022 We are very proud to be announced as a finalist for Cricket Tasmanias Community Cricket Awards Community Partnership award for our Kangaroo Island Fundraiser. Congratulations to all other finalists, especially the Burnie Cricket League for their nomination in the Technology and Media Initiative award. We look forward to the awards ceremony when it is able to go forward. #marooncountry

08.01.2022 Another solid T20 performance last night has seen us defeat Penguin by 9 wickets. Penguin won the toss and batted but were unable to capitalise due to some tight lines and lengths from our bowlers. James Carpenter’s introduction to the team paid off immediately with four wickets, three of which came in the space of four balls. Sam Poke and Nathan Southwell didn’t muck around with the run chase racing to 33 in the fifth over before Poke fell to an absolute screamer at backward... point. Tim King then came in to finish the job off with Southwell. Finishing with two wins in the the T20 competition means we ended up on top of the ladder and will now play in the Semi Final on Sunday January 24th, with the Grand Final being played later that day. We will take on either Acton, Natone or Smithton, depending on the result from the Smithton V Natone game to be played this Sunday. #MAROONCOUNTRY

Congratulations on a superb season Chalky! #marooncountry See more

05.01.2022 Our 2019/20 A Reserve Fielding Award goes to Dave King. After not playing last year, Dave came back to take the gloves in the A Reserve this year. Congratulations Dave! #marooncountry

01.01.2022 Next is our A Grades Jason Rice Perpetual Batting Award which goes to James King. Although James only scored 175 runs for the year, he was able to manage a batting average of 29.17 by finishing not out in 5 of his 11 innings, showing he valued his wicket this season. The A Grade found themselves in a couple of holes early in the year, losing early wickets in low run chases, and James helped to build partnerships with the middle and lower order to get them across the line. Hi...s highlight was in the Elimination Final against Natone where he scored 52*, putting on 2 x 60+ run partnerships with Nathan Southwell and Brock Dicker, to help chase down 199 and get them through to the Preliminary Final. James also took 10 wickets @ 18.80, including 4/9 off 5.2 in the Round 8 win against Ridgley, showing his all round ability. Well done James! #marooncountry See more
