16.01.2022 Ode to Miranda in Picnic at Hanging Rock, an all time personal favourite film. Directed in 1975 by Peter Weir. Beautiful and mysterious, it drew international attention to the then emerging Australian New Wave of cinema, an amazing era of film that went onto inspire more recent film makers including Sofia Coppola, who borrowed heavily from it for her productions of The Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette. Both films deal extensively with themes of death, femininity as well as adolescent perceptions of love and sexuality. The film is based on the novel by Joan Lindsay and shot by Russell Boyd. Charlie wears the tiered skirt in ink.
