25.01.2022 The biggest problem I see with the health and fitness industry is the promotion of the quick fix, the new 6-8-12 week program that will change your life which all turn out to be bullshit and not actually what you need to help you. These are just a way for people to make money. This article actually outlines some great points on what you need to do and expect to happen if you want to truly make some changes. Don't be shocked, it talks about hard work and patience, but there a...re a few great learnings in this one that you may not have considered or seen before with all the click bait headlines out there. https://www.shape.com//things-i-learned-during-my-body-tra

24.01.2022 If you have not been successful in the past with New Years resolutions and making changes to your lifestyle, then have a read of this to see if this has been your issue in the past. https://www.realbodiesfitness.com.au//Recipe-for-Success-i

24.01.2022 This is great advice about how you can go about starting a new fitness, heath and well b ing regime for the new year from one of the best PT's I know. Jason really knows his stuff and he is someone that I have been lucky enough to work alongside and learn things from afar. Have a read and this will dispel some of the myths you may have been told about what you need to but is also a great basic and well explained way to implement change which will be sustainable.

23.01.2022 I love this post. I have had issues with the way the Health and Fitness industry functions since I became a PT and the messages it sends out to predominantly make us all feel inadequate and in desperate need of their help to learn what the next quick fix is, which supps we should be taking and how I can blast my belly or inner thigh fat with 5 simple exercise. Read this to see where the industry is falling down and what they should be telling you but won't because it hurts too many hip pockets.

23.01.2022 What exercise can I do to get rid of belly/underarm/inner thigh fat? This is one of the most common questions I get asked as a PT and one of the most frustrating questions. If you read the big media magazines, they will tell you to simply do sit ups, tricep dips and side lunges. But this crap isn't right and the approach isn't by the fitness industry and fitness media isn't right either. I wrote this blog 18 months ago, but after recent discussions I feel it is important t...o post again to help people out, especially as many embark on a new weight loss or fitness regime. https://www.realbodiesfitness.com.au//Why-You-Wont-Get-a-6

23.01.2022 This is amazing. So many people give up when they are given a diagnosis that rocks their world. This is proof that you some people can continue to do certain things in some cases (depending on your condition) if you are willing to find a way.... Many of us look at our plight and give up when we have nothing wrong with us other than laziness. Be the Change You Want To See IN Your World.

22.01.2022 When you set yourself a challenge of running 2019 kms for a year and incorporate 13 half marathons, 2 marathons and a 50km ultra all in the hope of raising money for Movember you need to start somewhere and this is the awesome bling from my first half @bellarine_sunset_run which is one of the best medals I have got from all the events I have run. My tenth half overall and my first of this year. #onlineruncoach #personaltraining #personaltrainer #runs #runner #runners #runningcommunity #runnersofinstagram #runnerscommunity #runnnersofinstagram #inspiration #instarunners #instagramrunners #mindset #marathon #motivation #marathontraining #halfmarathon #halfmarathontraining #fit #fitness

If so, join our support group on the link here. 19.01.2022 $1 That is all I am asking for you to spare for me. If I can get the majority of you on here to give me $1 towards Beyond Blue and my efforts to get to the starting line of the Canberra marathon I will be extremely grateful. I need $455 to reach my target and I know I can get there soon, I just need YOUR help/... As many of you know, I am a keen campaigner for raising awareness for mental health issues and helping both Beyond Blue and Movember Foundation Australia. We will all be touched in some way shape or form by mental health with statistics showing the continuous increase in the number of people suffering from some form of mental health issue. Please help me do my bit by raising money and running to promote the cause. $1 is all I am asking for. https://runningfestival2019.everydayhero.com//fatty-runnin#

19.01.2022 Last day of voting so please make sure you get your votes in today. Thank you for your support this last week. https://woobox.com/n4bb3s/l12mk5

18.01.2022 We all know that the number of people suffering from Mental Health issues is increasing every year. Sadly so is the number of people taking their own lives because of their battles and struggles. As someone that lives with depression, I want to stop as many people as I can from feeling that the only option left for them is to take their own life. 2019 was going to be a huge year for me with my running until my own issues with my depression stopped me from training adequatel...y to reach my goals and causing me to re-evaluate. I will be attempting to run the Melbourne Marathon this year in October, which is for me a triumph over the dark days if i can get to the finish line. When I do it will be with a huge smile on my face knowing that I have pushed through the horrible times to complete the training and the event. This year I am raising money for Movember and ask that anyone that may have been touched by mental health issues in some way kindly donate if you are able. Thank you in advance. https://mobro.co/gregleitch

Could you all please consider sharing this and letting your networks know exactly what I am trying to achieve. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.... Link is contained below.

15.01.2022 Today I was lucky enough have Rod from Rocket Health & Performance Training come and give me a demonstration of DDPY. Its not your mommas Yoga!! Is the catch cry. It was a great session which not only allowed me to stretch out but also get my heart rate up and also do some resistance work. If you want more details or would be interested in a session let me know and we may be able to arrange For Rod to come back and run one for you.

15.01.2022 At the end of May I put out an invite to people to join me in the month of June to attempt to complete a streak of moving everyday of the month by walking, running, swimming, cycling etc for a minimum of 1.6kms per day. It has been a very successful exercise with over 70 people joining the group so far and supporting and encouraging each other to keep moving. Some people have missed days for various reasons, which is ok. They have picked up the next day and started again. ... This isnt just about 30 days, it is about creating good habits so that you will continue to move regularly after the month is over. Coming to the end of the month, I would like you all to read this article and then join us if you arent already a member and make an effort to have a male friend or family member join us. As a male that battles with depression I have found myself wanting to speak about it and get others to open up or realise what may be happening with themselves. I want ALL to feel they have somewhere to turn (whether it be this group or helping them open up to family/friends) but I want to get men to open up more. We all know how bad males are at doing this and the shocking statistics show that 6 mean everyday in Australia take their own lives. Part of helping people deal with their mental health is being active. You have all proved that a simple task of walking/running or moving for 1.6kms everyday can have a positive impact on your life and those around you. Can you use this group to get one male within your network (whom most likely definitely needs it) to help change their lifestyle, mindset and those around them by joining us. Call it a crusade if you like, but this is what I think I have been put on this planet for, to get people moving and help with their mental health, whether it be through self-awareness, having meaningful discussions or just being more proactive in the management of their issues.

13.01.2022 As I write this, over 3 million Australians are living with mental health issues. That is 1 in 8 people in our population. Of those people 8 will take their own lives today. Last year more than 3000 lives were lost to suicide, which is 3 times our national road toll. More needs to be done to help these people and stop lives being lost. I am trying to do my bit by raising money for Beyond Blue and running the Canberra Marathon in 11 weeks. In order to do this I need to raise... $1000 for Beyond Blue. I am slowly getting closer, but I need your help to get me there. Can you spare $1 to donate towards the cause and help me help those living with mental illnesses. I would love your help and if you can share this post, tag people that you think may want to help or know a business that might want to get on board, it would be greatly appreciated. https://runningfestival2019.everydayhero.com//fatty-runnin

13.01.2022 Are you one of those people that has always wanted a 6 pack, to be shredded and look like all those people on Instagram? Do you have any idea of what is involved to get there and how miserable you could actually be? I regularly speak to people that thik they need to lose a couple more kgs, but when asked why they usually respond "Because that is what the internet or charts tell me I should weigh" or they want the 6 pack or bikini bod.... I have worked with some seriously fit and muscular trainers over the last few years and even they don't want to live like that all year round. Have a read of this and see what is actually involved before you think you need a 6 pack and find out what is involved at each range. https://www.precisionnutrition.com/cost-of-getting-lean

13.01.2022 This will be me on Thursday afternoon hopefully if I can win this grant, but I can only do it with your help. Please keep the votes coming. https://woobox.com/n4bb3s/l0y5gc

12.01.2022 Real Bodies Runners (my run coaching business) has been selected as a finalist in the Bizcover Small Business Grant competition. Please click on the below link and vote for us everyday until the competition ends. If we get the most votes we win. Look for my logo and also remember to share this with all y our friends and family. There may... also be some prizes up for grabs if we are successful. https://woobox.com/n4bb3s/l0bipj

09.01.2022 I love this message. This is what we need to teach all our kids. The scales dont matter, they are just a number. That number has no bearing on what sort of a person you are or what contribution you will have to this planet. Sadly most will not listen to this or take notice but the message we send our kids now will have a massive impact on the adults they become.

08.01.2022 This was posted 4 years ago but it is just as relevant now as it was back then. Wise words from the guru Craig Harper.

06.01.2022 WooHoo, check this out. You can listen to my story on the @pranarunning podcast which has just been released this morning. Thanks Mel for the opportunity to share my story and hopefully inspire some other people to get out and give running a chance. #onlineruncoach #personaltraining #personaltrainer #runs #runner #runners #runningcommunity #runnersofinstagram #runnerscommunity #runnnersofinstagram #inspiration #instarunners #instagramrunners #mindset #marathon #motivation #marathontraining #halfmarathon #halfmarathontraining #fit #fitness

06.01.2022 The fear of failure is the one thing holding the majority of people from succeeding at what they wish to try in life. 99% of the time it isnt even the fear of failing the act, it is the perception it gives to others and the response you will get from those around you, in person and on social media that prevents us from being brave and taking the plunge. https://www.realbodiesfitness.com.au//%E2%80%9CControl-You

06.01.2022 Less than 2 days to go now so please keep voting. https://woobox.com/n4bb3s/l12mk5

05.01.2022 This post is an amazing reminder that we should never be punishing ourselves with exercise for the food we eat. Easter is a time of the year where we all indulge, whether it be a hot cross bun or a few chocolate eggs with the kids and family. It is a time for being present with your family not sitting there dreading the fact that you have eaten chocolate and now need to get to the gym or go for a run. Be mindful of what you are doing, but realise that you need to live as well. Enjoy the easter period, indulge a little if you like, but don't get hung up on a few days where you might not be 100% perfect with your food and drink.

04.01.2022 Dont let age or your current fitness level/weight deter you from doing something you really want to do. At the age of 38 I was morbidly obese, not really achieving anything in life other than working and sitting on the couch at home being miserable with myself. With the support of my wife, we decided to make some changes to our lives and that involved losing weight and getting healthy. I decided I wanted to learn to run. This was the best decision I ever made. Running and... strength work allowed me to lose over 60kgs in the space of 12 months. It wasnt easy and it meant I had to make some serious changes to my lifestyle, sacrifice certain things (my choice) like alcohol for 3 months straight and really focus on the important things like nutrition, sleep and training. Not everyone wants or needs to lose 60kgs, but that is beside the point. My point is if you want to lose some weight or get fit but think you are too old to do so, I am proof that you are not and it is more important as you age to get outside your comfort zone and take on this challenge because if you dont you may regret it down the track. This is not a push to get everyone out running, because clearly running isnt for everyone. If you want to try running though I am more than happy to chat to you. What I do want is for people to get out there and do anything, but most importantly DO WHAT YOU LOVE. If you enjoy bushwalking, cycling, dancing, yoga, swimming it doesnt matter, just do more of it. If you do something you love then it isnt a chore or it isnt considered working out. You are doing something you love with the added benefit of making changes to your lifestyle.

04.01.2022 WOW what a day!!!!

04.01.2022 WOW, what a response we have had to the voting so far. Yesterday we were 100 votes behind, now thanks to everyone we are 113 in front, but anything can happen. Day 3 of voting, means we get to do it all over again. Please jump back on the link below and vote again today and everyday until the end of next week. If i can win this business grant it is the same as me signing 10 new clients so you help would greatly appreciated.... Real Bodies Runners has been selected as a finalist in the Bizcover Small Business Grant competition. Please click on the below link and vote for us everyday until the competition ends. 04.01.2022 Have you been trying to make some changes through going to the gym and doing classes or using the machines but just can't get into it or see the results you want? Maybe you need to try something different. Check out Real Bodies Runners and their Learn to Run Club or the online programming, which is customised to each person. Whether you are new to running or wanting to train for an event you will be looked after specifically to your current level, including a running specific strength program. Great results have been achieved, so why not check it out and join the group for a session.

03.01.2022 This stuff makes me SOOOOO angry.

02.01.2022 In May I decided to set myself a goal of running or walking a minimum of 1.6kms each day for the month of June to make me more accountable. 52 days later I am still going. I invited people to join me to aid their own efforts to get up and do something each and every day. The best thing about this challenge is that it is personal. People have adapted it to suit their own circumstances and include swimming, riding, yoga, gym sessions etc by just ensuring they are moving a l...ittle everyday. I am asking you to join us for August. Come and join our free group and see if this personal challenge can get you to start a new personal challenge/goal to help you make a small lifestyle change NOW. It has been amazing for my depression, giving me clarity of mind, helping me WANT to go out everyday because I dont want to break my streak and improving a number of areas in my life. If you have any questions, please feel free to pop them in here. Get your friends and family to join it with you and if you feel someone else would benefit from this share it with them. What have you got to lose? We all have 20 minutes to go for a walk, take the dog or the kids on the bike. https://www.facebook.com/groups/403793466879846/

01.01.2022 As I mentioned in a blog post 2 months ago, I was going to document exactly what has been happening to me since I wrote the Confessions of an overweight trainer blog. This is about the last 2 months and whilst not everything has gone to plan, I have still managed some pretty decent results which arent scale related. Relying on scales can and will mess with your head, so try to look for wins in other areas to keep yourself moving forward. I would love to hear your thoughts after you have read the blog. https://www.realbodiesfitness.com.au//12/11/Confession-Par

01.01.2022 Thank you al so much. But we need to keep up the good work for a few more days yet.

01.01.2022 At this time of year most of us will be thinking about 2 things. How much we will eat and drink over the festive season and how we are going to make some changes to our health and well being come January 1st. Personally, I feel that you shouldnt set a date, but start now. I know that is not how human nature works, so I will accept that YOU will start on the 1st January 2020 and that will work fine. My challenge to you is that you actually need to start in order to move tow...ards to your goals. So, with that in mind I am asking you to click the link below and join the free group. It is a group I set up in June 2019 to get people moving and it has been very successful. There is no stipulation on the sort of exercise you have to do, just make sure you move every day in some way. For me it was about running and walking, others mixed their days up with yoga, walking the dog, swimming, cycling, it doesnt matter so long as you move each and every day for the month of January. The best thing with this is, there are no membership costs or contracts to gyms, you determine what you do for the day and you find that once you start the habit, it becomes a little addictive. I will be on board and hope that you will join me and get your friends and family doing it as well. We all know it is easier when there is strength in numbers. So Who is in? https://www.facebook.com/groups/403793466879846/

01.01.2022 Most of my focus this year has been on the run coaching side of my business, so here is a recap on what has happened this year.
