22.01.2022 White people have so much to apologise for, and it needs to come from governments and entire communities but we will start with saying: we’re sorry. We’re sorry for centuries of cruelty, violence and division. We’re sorry for the systems that were built to enforce such viciousness. We’re sorry most of those systems still exist. We’re sorry we continue to benefit from them and we’re sorry so many continue to be punished by them. We’re sorry that history is full of rhetoric,... or completely erased - convenient for the oppressor. We’re sorry for the genocide, for the killing of beautiful black people and of languages and culture. We’re sorry for the wasted lives, the missed opportunities and the world we haven’t made yet. We’re sorry we can never fully understand but we promise we will always try to. We can’t promise the utopia we crave, but we can promise every time we have an opportunity to play a role in getting us closer to it we will - publicly, privately and when it will cost money. We promise we will create our own opportunities to educate - both ourselves and others. We promise to learn what we can, listen and be open to be corrected. We promise we will do better than our ancestors who made this bloody mess, and instead be part of the change the future generations will be proud of. We’re here to do the work, that’s our commitment and promise to our community with love and solidarity. 11.01.2022 Yesterday we went to Ballarat to put up some bought stickers on some properties that have recently gone unconditional We also inspected a property for some incredible first home buyer clients, had lunch with them at the local pub, then headed back to Melbourne to do our due diligence in order to get our offer in and accepted by 8pm.... all less than a week after our clients had engaged us, and against strong competition. Our happy (and hilarious!) clients we’re toasting the fantastic result all night

04.01.2022 These last weeks have been momentous, shocking and healing. We have protested, donated, signed petitions, sent letters and spent time deeply reflecting and dissecting the issues our community continually needs to work on to make a fairer, safer and kinder society. We have a long way to go, but we’re also in awe of some of the change this movement has inspired already. It’s a reminder that when good people get together, amazing things can happen. One of the reasons we started... Realm, was because we saw the daily destruction caused by discrimination and the terrorising role it plays in our lives. Othering and ostracising is the broken foundations on which our society so dangerously and unstably sways. It is insidious, it seeps into everything. It influences what neighbourhoods people live in, what schools and hospitals they have access to, what jobs are available and how much they’re paid. It dictates the opportunities or chances people are given, plagues our justice system and erodes our growth. The property industry is tied up in all of this, we‘ve witnessed it and spoken out about it in the past - but we realised if we want to make real and meaningful change, we need to write our own rules. And so came Realm, a place that welcomes and aims to support and uplift all people - regardless of race, gender identity, sexuality, religion, perceived ability or social status. We want to grow and create opportunity - for our clients, ourselves and our communities. And it starts with some honest truth talking. The work is not over, to make a world worthy of everyone we must collectively strive to do better every moment of every day. We are mindful of our role in this, as business owners, as people who work in the property industry and as people who although constantly experience sexism, have never, nor will we ever, experience the vicious kind of racism we are seeking to end. It’s important for us to acknowledge our power and limitations in this - both are strengths of different kinds and need to be wielded with care and gusto accordingly.
