24.01.2022 Today’s featured element of #mentalhealthmonth2020 is #TuneIn to yourself! There are plenty of ways to tune in to yourself like meditating, practicing self-care or discovering a creative outlet. This year at Recovery Camp we have been teaching a course through Zoom called Being Self Determined where participants learn skills like journaling, goal setting, self-awareness and asserting boundaries. Our past students of the course tell us that while reflecting can be difficult at first, it can be powerful. How often do you tune in and check in with yourself? Would it help your #recoveryjourney to do this more often? Get in touch if you’re interested in more information on a course with us @RecoveryCamp

21.01.2022 We still have 1 spot left for the Being Self Determined course starting next week. Designed and delivered by Recovery Camp, this course delivered via Zoom is based on Self Determination Theory and teaches skills to build capacity towards personal mental health recovery. Here are some of our latest graduates from the 4 week course. Participants set goals and discuss the concepts of autonomy, competence, relatedness and more as they are supported through the weeks with prom...pts to journal about new learnings and achievements. We were lucky in last time were able to hold the final session live with 2 participants at Recovery Camp! This is perfect for anyone across Australia living with mental health conditions and available Tuesday afternoons starting June 22. The content is taught by a specialist mental health nurse and researcher but the magic component of the course is the peer learning aspect of the small group, one participant said I really liked the sense of connection. Every week for the month being able to touch base and connect with everybody and learn from each other. If you’re interested email [email protected], this could be the next step on your #RecoveryJourney Share with a friend or loved one who could benefit

16.01.2022 October is #MentalHealthMonth and the theme this year is #TuneIn. Although we haven’t been able to run many Recovery Camps this year, we have been busy tuning into the community in other ways. The strength of community which is formed over the week away at camp is one of the secret ingredients for the powerful experience and lasting positive impact of Recovery Camp. We are told this again and again by our #ExpertsbyLivingExperience and is shown by the lasting engagement wit...h #RecoveryCampAlumni, (and we are so grateful to be surrounded by this amazing bunch!). Here are the things we’re doing in October to connect with the #RCcommunity. 1. Free Student Alumni CPD Training- Conversations about Suicide and Assessment 2. Recovery Camp at UOW Makerspace creative workshop program 3. Picnic Meet Ups - socially distanced outdoor picnics around NSW 4. Team RC weekly walking events to support the #OneFootForward October walking challenge to fundraise for mental health research and resources Each week in October, we will pick an element of the Tune In theme of #mentalhealthmonth2020 and explore it through our Recovery Camp lens, so stay tuned! If you have any questions about any of our programs please don't hesitate to get in touch. As always, wishing you all best for your #recoveryjourney and hoping you are safe and well this October If you're in crisis, please reach out to the support services pictured

12.01.2022 This week at Recovery Camp we caught up with Kane, one of our #ExpertsByLivingExperience to talk about how to #TuneIn to others as part of our #MentalHealthMonth series. Kane's advice for tuning into others is to understand where they’ve come from and what they’re going through. His tip to achieving this is by becoming friends and having a yarn with them. Connection with others is beneficial for mental health recovery. Can you make someone’s day by reaching out today? Thank you so much Kane for taking the time and sharing your thoughts with us!

10.01.2022 Today, 10 October, officially marks Mental Health Day, but here at Recovery Camp and for many members of the #RCcommunity, every day is focused on mental health. We want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the strength of people living with mental ill health in dealing with their conditions daily as well as the isolating stigma prevalent in society. We also recognise the invaluable contribution of health professionals and carers in supporting individuals with ongoing r...ecovery journeys. It is our mission that through Recovery Camp, students and #ExpertsByLivingExperience realise their personal strengths and ability to influence the mental health and recovery of others. We have been running camps since 2013 and our aim to provide empowering, experiential learning of mental health recovery for future health staff and people with a lived experience of mental illness has never been stronger. Stick with us throughout October as we #TuneIn to #MentalHealthMonth2020 See more

07.01.2022 Recovery Camp is based on the land of the Wodi Wodi people of Dharawal country. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the traditional custodians for their care of the beautiful lands, mountains and waters which we enjoy, work and live today. We acknowledge that we all benefit from these ancient and continuing contributions. Camp Yarramundi is also a special place for us as many campers have been nurtured and shared learning experiences in that place. We would like ...to acknowledge the traditional Dharug people who grace the land. The word Yarramundi in the traditional Darug dialect means storyteller. The act of storytelling provides knowledge, connection and experience, the spirit of learning and connecting through this legacy can still be felt in Yarramundi today. Truth telling and LISTENING is essential for healing and recovery. Everyone has a part to play in reconciliation for this country in reclaiming dignity and hope for our individual and collective futures. More Than Just A Word. Reconciliation Takes Action National Reconciliation Week 2021 runs from 27 May to 3 June. Credit: https://www.crcresearch.org//reconciliation-and-reconnecti
