15.01.2022 OVERLAND TRACK HUTS NOW OPEN The new simple, energy efficient Waterfall Valley hut on the Overland Track is now open for bushwalkers to rest overnight. All othe...r PWS managed huts within the Cradle-Mountain-Lake St Clair National Park and Frenchmans Cap have also reopened after they were closed as part of the COVID-19 response. To meet physical distancing requirements the number of people allowed in each hut is limited. So if you are enjoying a multi-day walk, you must carry a quality tent (3-4 season rating with inner and outer layer), and be prepared to camp. Each hut has signage advising how many people are permitted and cleaning supplies to allow walkers to self-manage the cleaning of surfaces. As a COVID-19 safety measure to manage the number of people departing each day, PWS has introduced a free registration system for access to Scott Kilvert, Pine Valley, Pelion via Arm River Frenchmans Cap and the Overland Track during the winter walking season. 13.01.2022 RECYCLED RECREATION HOBART TEMPORARY CLOSURE Because of the effects of the COVID-19 virus we have decided to close the Recycled Recreation shop in Hobart from Monday 30th March 2020.... Please note that we are open today (Sunday 29th March) between 10am and 2pm. If you want to make any last-minute purchases, then today is the day. We took similar action at the Canberra store on 17th March. Our reasons for doing this were published on the RecycledRecCanberra Facebook page. Note: FOR CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE LEFT EQUIPMENT FOR ASSESSMENT WITH A VIEW TO US PURCHASING. 1. Equipment we have decided not to purchase. This needs to be collected today. Most customers in this situation will have already been contacted. 2. If we not yet paid you for equipment which we have agreed to purchase then we will pay you by bank transfer. If you have not provided your bank details then please ring today or tomorrow to provide them. If you are near the shop today we may be able to pay you out in cash for small amounts. 06.01.2022 Camping ballot for Freycinet National Parks campground closes soon Freycinet National Parks campground is a small coastal strip along the dunes of Richardsons... Beach and the granite knoll of Honeymoon Bay. All campsites are only metres from the waters edge. Camping in Freycinet is extremely popular, particularly over the summer months and at Easter. Due to the high demand for these campsites, a ballot system operates for camping between 18 December 10 February and at Easter. During this period, a maximum of 10 nights can be booked for up to 6 people, per site. Outside of this period, there is a maximum 14-night stay. Only one entry per family/group is allowed for Christmas and another may be entered for Easter. Ballot entries close at 4pm on 31 July.
