25.01.2022 https://gosafe.at/nvx44 This is the link to our QR code / check-in website for when dining-in (Save it to your phone if you wish ) For many months we have been using this website for safe check-in as well as our paper forms. But now that to many patrons/guests/visitors have been giving false information at venues, businesses will no longer be able to accept paper forms. No ifs, no buts, just no! ... I am sharing this website for all our regular customers to have quick access to the link (sometimes, some phones, have difficulty opening the QR code) . All of our tables have our QR codes (this is where you use your camera app to open this link). For visitors that do not have a smart phone, please let one of us know, and we will let you sign-in from our Red Deer Mobile. Thank you xx

25.01.2022 Just a heads up to our loved ones xx Next week we will have some altered trading hours. We will be CLOSED on Tuesday 18th August. 25.01.2022 Red Deer Cafe is an approved COVID SAFE business. We have gone above and beyond to keep you all safe. We hope these new Dine-In regulations won't scare you away. We look to accommodating your dining in needs very soon One step closer to normal ... Xoxo See more

24.01.2022 With restrictions easing in a few short hours we thank you for your patience, cooperation and consideration. As we have had to convert into a Take-Away only business we've experienced first hand, the importance of someone actually needing to Dine-In and it has been devastating not being able to help people and certainly stressful as our way of normal was providing quality assistance for our customers. I'd like to express some examples of someone that NEEDS a table: Personal C...arers, who are far from home who are out for the day going client to client and on lunch needing somewhere to sit and eat while between clients, a person riding a motorcycle, truck drivers, cyclists that utilise the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, elderly stopping between medical appointments, the list goes on and on, some people need a clean and sanitised area to eat as they can't just take it home. We will do our very best to prioritise our Dining capacity for those people. In June when restrictions ease a little more we will accommodate for recreation. Now I'm not saying you can't come and visit Red Deer Cafe and the mighty Pirateship playground, I'm saying please be considerate to others who may need that table , please feel free to phone ahead, give us a call ask us what our current numbers are. We will always be happy to assist. Some other points you need to know, our designated Take -Away area is at the front , you will still need to continue to wait for Take-Away at the front, we encourage you to phone ahead 0754242635 /0423555054 to limit your time at Red Deer Cafe. Our 3 Dining zones are: Inside, at our Pirateship Playground and at our Pet Friendly Area. If you are requiring to Dine in , you must email the relevant contact details to [email protected] before you take a seat/ before you order at the counter. You may only take a seat at a table that has been marked cleaned and sanitised. We use VIRACLEAN (the only sanitiser proven to kill COVID19) on all surfaces and touch points. You must not enter Red Deer Cafe if you are experiencing any cold /flu/virus symptoms. However, you may phone and order Delivery. You must obey social distancing laws at all times. Please utilise our hand sanitising stations or even better use soap and water in the bathroom. Be rest assured we are a COVID SAFE business and the health and safety of our community is our top priority. Thank you again for your support, your patience and your cooperation xx We are all in this together xx

21.01.2022 There was some "Exciting" news high lighted the other day. Well here is what some of us are getting excited about. The Esk RSL Sub Branch has gone through some ...major changes in recent times. Due to the on going COVID 19 health situation the Sub Branch suspended normal operations indefinitely. After many Executive Committee meetings and communication to members, it was decided to change the operation of the Sub Branch completely. Over the last couple of months we have disposed of surplus items including furniture, kitchen equipment and various other major items. During this period a dedicated few began a total reconfiguration of the Diggers Hall. As of this moment we now have a Drop In Centre/Welfare area and "Board Room" where we previously had the kitchen. The office has been slightly reconfigured and now work is well under way establishing a Military History Display area and merchandise shop (a "New Museum" is taking shape in Esk). The Military History Display will cover Sub Branch history, Light Horse involvement in the surrounding areas, World Wars 1&2, Korea, Malaya/Borneo, Vietnam, Peace Makers, Peace Keepers, Iraq, Afghanistan and various other recent conflicts to which our Defence Forces have deployed It is hoped to have the total project completed early 2021. We propose to operate the drop in centre one day a week on Wednesdays and have it open for coffee or tea and a chat. Once fully operational, we welcome Sub Branch members, serving and ex service members of the Defence Force and visitors to Esk and surrounds. Until that time, if the door is open, pop in and say hello to those working on the project and have a look at the project as it progresses. The following photos give some idea of the project's progress. 1&2 are of the old kitchen area, now drop in centre and board room. 3 is part of the Light Horse dedicated display. 4 is the ongoing work in the previous bar, now being transformed into a merchandise shop.

20.01.2022 A little over 5 weeks ago we introduced QR codes to make it easier for our staff and our customers to sign in when dining in. Because let's face it, these rules are not temporary. The Safe Visit sign in option is much easier compared to dealing with paper forms that we have to store for 56 days. We THANK all of our customers for utilising the Safe Visit sign in option (whether you use the QR code or the website https://gosafe.at/nvx44 ) and we appreciate your cooperation. (...But of course we will have the forms available on request for visitors who do not have a phone) But on a different note, I hope to get the message out that we are following these rules and regulations for not only our health and safety but your health and safety and the health and safety of our community , and we will not tolerate any abuse regarding COVID safe rules.

12.01.2022 It is nearly time for the 2021 school year to begin! (Our first day is Wednesday 27/1.) This week staff will be on site, undertaking staff development days - s...o if we are not answering the phone, please leave a message. PARENTS ARE WELCOME ON SCHOOL GROUNDS. This is a key message for everyone given the impact that Covid has had. While social distancing is still a requirement, we look forward to seeing you around, and settling your kids into their new classes. Needing uniforms? Would like to drop up the kids book packs before the first day of school? Thursday morning the 21/1 has been put aside for just that. The uniform shop will be open from 8:30 - 12:00. There are both new and second hand uniforms available. The P&C prefer cash payments please. Our BSM will be able to open classrooms for you during that same time, so that you can drop in the book packs to your child's classroom. Some families find this helpful so that the first day of school is not quite so full on. Looking forward to great year! Mrs W.

04.01.2022 Sharing https://www.aussieoutbackrenos.com.au/finalists The other week I was scrolling through Facebook and a post from Aussie Outback Reno's spiked my attention.... They were after nominations to nominate an Aussie in need of a bathroom reno in celebration of Australia Day. And I couldn't think of anyone more deserving than local Esk resident Ernie Eastell !!! As most Esk locals are aware, Ernie has volunteered his time for many local organisations, just to name a few, Esk Jockey Club, Esk Bowls Club, Brisbane Valley APEX, Brisbane Valley Meals on Wheels, mows the local footy field and church grounds, I guess I could try harder and think of more, but I bet you all know Ernie's face well for his community spirit. But what allot may not know, is he suffered through 2 hip replacements due to a false diagnoses (which then ended his truck driving career) , the poor bugger had MS all along, and if he had known earlier in life he would have been able to manage his condition much better, but as they say life goes on, and Ernie still does whatever he can when he can even though his mobility is very limited. For the last fair few years he spends most of his hours in his shed as it's much easier for him to manoeuver around in, he is in need of a bathroom that he can access. (He currently has a shower over a bath, and the hand rail that NDIS put in, just does not cut it, he needs a walk in shower/wet room) . So I nominated Ernie in hope that he could win a new bathroom. This could drastically change his day to day living. To my surprise a few days after I nominated Ernie, Aussie Outback Reno's asked me for pictures. I wanted it to be a surprise for Ernie so I snuck in to grab some piccies, 2 weeks ago he was called and was told about his nomination, they came and measured up, and then now Ernie is in the top 5!!! Now we need your help !! Please vote for finalist number 3 and get Ernie the bathroom he deserves!! https://www.aussieoutbackrenos.com.au/finalists See pictures here https://www.facebook.com/1107712009384323/posts/1817089181779932/ And please share share share!!

03.01.2022 Some good news for those planning to visit Lake Somerset this weekend... Lake Somerset has re-opened for all primary (in-water) recreation, except for swimming... at The Spit's designated swimming area which will remain closed until further notice. That means you can resume enjoying activities such as water skiing, jet skiing and tubing. If you fancy a dip, swimming is allowed at the designated swimming area at Lake Somerset’s Kirkleagh recreation site. More info: bit.ly/39Op476
