14.01.2022 We are an enthusiastic and supportive group, ranging in age from 20’s to 80’s, 1/3 women, 2/3 men. Some are very good; some are just getting going. We want each rehearsal to be fun and comfortable for everyone: some solo and improvise on every song, some are not yet comfortable soloing or improvising either one or anywhere in-between is fine. Our goal is to have fun and help each other get better, rather than to gig. We play Hot Jazz (also known as Traditional Jazz, Trad. J...azz, Dixieland Jazz, and New Orleans Jazz) every Wednesday 6:30-8:30 pm in Albert Park. It is easy to get to via the 1, 12, and 96 trams, plus there is plenty of free parking. We currently include: clarinets (2), trumpets (2), saxophones (2), cornet, harmonica, guitar, banjo, tuba, drums, and piano. We would like to add two trombone players. Plus maybe another clarinet, tuba/sousaphone, and sax player. Plus maybe flute and violin. Once in a while someone has to drop out or miss some rehearsals due to holidays or work, so we are also keen to have back-ups who like to fill in occasionally and/or hope to join us if someone drops out.
