16.01.2022 How to prevent Mail Theft All that an identify thief needs to ruin your life is right out on the street, in your mailbox. 1) Remove all obstacles that block y...ou from seeing you mailbox. This way you can see every person that comes up. 2) Get rid of all your paper and mail based banking and credit transactions. Opt for paperless and have them emailed to your account. If there is no sensitive information in your mailbox then an identity thief cant steal something they could use. 3) Change your utility bills to paperless. Often utility bills are one of the things needed to show proof of residence to open a new account. 4) Invest in a sturdy mailbox that requires a key to open and close it. 5) Consider changing your locks to the tubular pin tumbler lock. 6) Collect your mail daily. 7) Ask your neighbours to collect your mail for you when you go overseas. Or arrange for a Post Office box address for the duration of your trip. 8) Always check your accounts for any suspicious transactions and report them immediately. See more
