25.01.2022 MIDNIGHT MEDEVAC last night for our volunteers. The wind was blowing N/W at a subtle 8-10knots. Crew and QAS paramedics, reported a smooth trip across the bay to Tangalooma and back. #coastguardredcliffe #medevac #guardiansofthebay #volunteers

25.01.2022 Good afternoon All, Some advance warning to Boaters and locals, on Friday the 6th November the Carpark located West of our Coast Guard building (as per picture highlighted in red) will be closed between 3am and 5pm. Could you please share this post and let people know. The boat ramp will still be accessible however there will be very limited car parks.... We recommend using the boat ramp beside the Caravan park. Any questions please let us know. Once again PLEASE SHARE THIS POST.

24.01.2022 Coast Guard Redcliffe volunteers responded to a call from a Marine Assist member to relocate a yacht, which had been dragging its anchors towards the Scarborough reef. Our crew secured the yacht along side Frieghtplus and assisted it to its pen within Scarborough Marina. Another great job by our #volunteers #guardiansofthebay Are you a Marine Assist member? 24.01.2022 Our volunteers were tasked by the water police at around 2030 last night to tow a 4.5m aluminium centre console from the pine river, under the M1 bridge. The vessel had crashed into a pylon of the bridge. *It suspected that the steering failed*. One person was injured and hospitalized. They were very lucky to be alive. Crews took a water police officer with them when our rescue vessel was launched at Deep water bend. Once on scene, it was clear the boat was a mess and our ...crew knew towing it back would have its challenges. One of our crew and the water police officer bailed the vessel in shifts, as the water was coming in from a large gaping hole in the bottom of the boat. The tow was slow and our crews had to hug the banks in case they lost the battle of bailing it out. They arrived back at deep water bend, where the police had one of their boat trailers ready and took the vessel back to their base. It was good to see a great team effort from Coast Guard Redcliffe and the QLD Water Police #volunteers #guardiansofthebay #workingtogether

24.01.2022 Coastguard Redcliffe continue to proudly SUPPORT our other emergency services, with todays Medevac. Volunteers transported QAS paramedics and an injured worker from Tangalooma back to Scarborough. Immediately after, volunteers answered a request from Brisbane water Police to assist in a Search and Rescue. Volunteers were tasked to look for a woman and kayak believed to be in trouble in the Sandgate area. #qf3 #volunteers #guardiansofthebay #emergencyservice

23.01.2022 Redcliffe Coast Guard working with Rescue 500 helicopter - conducting some on water training. In this short clip, Amz is a survivor and gets winched up to the helicopter via two methods. One retrival by harness and the other by rescue swimmer + basket. For safety reasons, our rescue vessel always has a qualified QAS paramedic onbaord during these training events. This training is essential for all crew. Its always a privilledge to work with the Rescue 500 team. #guardiansofthebay #teamwork #essentialtraining

23.01.2022 Volunteers were called into assist with a Medevac yesterday, afternoon. The patient was safely transported from Tangalooma back to Scarborough harbour with QAS paramedics. Our crew report that the weather was quite windy and the bay conditions were quite rough. *All current COVID procedures were followed, with minimal crew and everyone wearing face masks (note the patient did not have COVID) #qf3 #volunteers #guardiansofthebay #medevac

23.01.2022 Last week our volunteers completed 2 exercises with the CHC team. One exercise during the day and the other at night. They were identical training methods - where a dummy was dropped into the bay and then they had to retrieve it. Crew report the ‘light show’ in the evenings training exercise was spectacular to watch. Always such a privilege to work with a professional team .

22.01.2022 This morning one of our marine assist members called our radio operator via VHF and informed him one engine was on fire on his boat. He said there was 2 people on board and they were currently positioned just out of the Newport Harbor laterals. Our volunteer radio operator instructed him, to not take any chances and get off the vessel immediately, and that help was on the way. The QFES and volunteer crew rushed to the base and jumped onboard RSL Redcliffe, loaded with ...the necessary fire fighting equipment and were quickly on the scene. But, (as the photos indicate)- the boat was well alight. We are glad that both crew members of the burning vessel were safe and well. Unfortunately though, the boat could not be saved. It was great team work between Redcliffe Coast Guard and the 4 members of QFES, they did an exceptional job #coastguardredcliffe #guardiansofthebay #volunteers #teamwork

21.01.2022 Busy day yesterday for our volunteers on duty. Here is a few snaps

21.01.2022 SAREX : Search And Rescue EXercise’s are key training activities where multiple organizations work together in a large scale exercise. Our volunteers were invited to partake in one recently, down at Cleveland. 20.01.2022 Today marks 10 years since our two main rescue vessels - ‘Redcliffe Leagues 2’ & ‘RSL Redcliffe’ were dispatched to the mouth of the Brisbane river for the 2011 floods. Crews were activated and out on the water for 4 days to catch boats, pontoons and anything else that was coming out of the Brisbane river. A floating marina in the middle of the bay, helping the Kookaburra Queen, and saving a floating cow from Marburg, were just some of the things the volunteers did. ... RIP to the people who lost their lives in the 2011 floods #2011floods #guardiansofthebay #volunteers

20.01.2022 Last night at approximately 6pm, Coast Guard Redcliffe were activated by the QLD Water Police to retrieve a 7 metre yacht, which was aground at Queens beach (north Scarborough). It was already top of the tide, so speed was of the essence, as the slight SE wind was pushing the yacht harder onto the sand and meant a later retrieval would be very difficult. Our rescue vessel RSL Redcliffe with 3 crew were quick on the scene, as well as one of our Coast Guard volunteers on t...he beach - who was able to assist in attaching a tow line to the bow of the distressed vessel. The yacht was towed to Whyte island (Water Police base), in the Brisbane river. It was a slow tow and our volunteers didnt return to base until early this morning. Great teamwork and crew training enabled a smooth hook up and completion of the job. #coastguardredcliffe #volunteers #guardiansofthebay

Allowing volunteers to have a sticky beak around their boat. Sunday - Midnight Medevac to Tangalooma on ‘Redcliffe Leagues 2’ with 2 QAS paramedics. - Tow assisted a 5m vessel which had steering problems, from blue hole (south of Moreton) back to Scarborough harbour. - A Radio course was held on base in the training room downstairs - RSL Redcliffe tow assisted a vessel from Tangalooma wrecks to Scarborough harbour - FreightPlus tow assisted a vessel from Scarborough reef, back to scarborough harbour PLUS on-top of that, volunteers managed to still do their general training & assessments. As you can see, it was a very busy weekend. Safe to say, all our volunteers will sleep well tonight! #volunteers #guardiansofthebay #coastguardredcliffe

18.01.2022 A small midweek job for our NEW flotilla skipper Ian. Our rescue vessel CG34 was deployed at dohles rocks to assist this vessel with engine failure. It was only a short tow back to the boat ramp, but the guys were very grateful and gave us a donation #qf3 #volunteers #guardiansofthebay

17.01.2022 Our volunteers trade the BOATS for BOOKS to enhance their TRAINING The weekend just gone, a selection of our volunteers from both QF3 Redcliffe and QF2 Brisbane attended a course on weather forecast, navigation and chartwork ran by our very own Wim from A Team. Wim’s experience as both a mariner and teacher made for a very informative, enjoyable and effective session reported one of the students.... This ‘Navigation and Chartwork course’ is part of a series of nationally-recognised units of competency, that form the pathway our volunteers can transition to boat crews and then even onto becoming a skipper of our rescue boats. #trainingisimportant #booksinsteadofboats #guardiansofthebay #qf3 #coastguardredcliffe

17.01.2022 Our volunteer crews were out on Wednesday in another Marine search, this time for a missing diver off North Stradbroke Island with Other VMR and Coastguard Units alongside Qld Police and multiple Air assets from Qld Government Air, Life Flight, Westpac Lifesaver and CHC Sar Flight. We will be out in the search again today.

17.01.2022 A great outcome

16.01.2022 Weekend wrap-up Saturday volunteers were tasked to a jetski high and dry in the mud, in the Pine River. After many failed attempts to reach them by land, Rescue 500 helicopter was tasked to rescue them off the craft. Also on Saturday our volunteers were tasked to retrieve and tow a semi submerged jetski near the shipping channel inline with Tangalooma. Luckily the driver and passenger were picked up by some passers by. (Extremely lucky in fact, could of been a very diff...erent outcome) Saturday evening while one of our volunteers was in the middle of his open coxswain holistic assessment, a call came in from a 6m alloy which had run out of fuel off Cape Moreton. Crews completed the tow back to scarborough harbour, and Tony passed his assessment. Well done Tony! On Sunday crews towed a 10m wooden yacht from north/east of the shipping channel MB2 marker, back to Scarborough. #coastguardredcliffe #guardiansofthebay #qf3

13.01.2022 Update as of late his afternoon, please note this is purely advice we are given, BOATING & FISHING UPDATE Media Statements... Minister for Transport and Main Roads The Honourable Mark Bailey Tuesday, March 31, 2020 Fishing and essential boat use to continue Queensland boaties can still take their boats out locally to fish or travel for essential reasons. Transport and Main Roads Minister Mark Bailey clarified the rules for boaties as the evolving COVID-19 response restricted a range of activities. If you own a boat and want to head out in the water in your local community to fish for food this weekend, you can, Mr Bailey said. If you need your boat to travel locally in your community, you can still do that. If you want to head out on your kayak or stand up paddle board for exercise, you still can. State Government boat ramps will remain open to boaties. We want people to continue living their lives as normally as possible under the current circumstances, but the advice of the Chief Health Officer needs to be followed. No one should be leaving their home unless its absolutely necessary. Mr Bailey said recent national directives limiting public gatherings to two people or less and limiting travel to essential purposes still applied. This isnt a special rule to let people out on the water for non-essential reasons this weekend, Mr Bailey said. Theres no reason for anyone to be taking the boat out unless its for essential travel to get to work, to and from your home, to local shops for provisions or catching fish for your family. Even then, there should be no more than two people, or immediate family members on board, and the social distancing rules everyone is being asked to follow still apply. Boaties should also be mindful of hygiene when putting boats in the water at public facilities. Mr Bailey encouraged boaties to continue monitoring the national health advice on COVID-19. As the nation works together to stop the spread of the virus, there is new advice daily. Boaties should be aware of the current restrictions on boat use, and be prepared for that advice to change again, should tougher rules to limit public movements and interaction come in. 12.01.2022 Volunteers assisted 2 vessels last night. The first tow assist was for a broken down vessel near the M3. RSL Redcliffe and 5 crew were activated to this at 1900hrs. Just as they were leaving harbour, another vessel made contact with our base, requiring assistance. The second vessel was just south of the Scarborough green. Our rigid inflatable CG34 and 2 crew were activated to assist. Both rescue vessels returned to harbour around 2130hrs with the 2 assists and 2 very grat...eful skippers. #qf3 #coastguardredcliffe #guardiansofthebay

12.01.2022 Another busy weekend for our duty crew Friday night a late Medevac Saturday: ... - a tow from just outside harbour with Freight Plus - Saturday evening, just after crews drove out the drive way, they were called back for a SAR Saturday night for 2 people missing on a jet ski. ‘RSL Redcliffe’ and ‘FreightPlus’ were activated with VMR Brisbane, VMR Bribie and Rescue 500 assisting. A great result with the 2 people found safe and well Sunday: - A tow assist of a 55 foot catamaran at the mouth of Newport, into Newport Marina - A tow assist of a Bay Liner from Tangalooma back to Scarborough - A tow assist, 1 mile off Woody Point Jetty back to Pelican Park boat ramp - Just as crews were cleaning up Sunday arvo, they got a call from a Trawler saying a person was in the water having trouble - righting their 5m Sailing vessel towards the mouth of Caboolture river. ‘Freight Plus’ was activated to bring the person back to harbour with ‘RSL Redcliffe assisting. QAS treated the patient after being in the water for a period of time with exhaustion. Tired crews were able to leave for home at 8pm #qf3 #volunteers #guardiansofthebay

10.01.2022 With a BUSY SUMMER PREDICTED out on the water, our volunteers have rolled up their sleeves and gotten back into raising vital funds. On Sunday, a dozen volunteers donned aprons and cooked up a sausage sizzle storm outside Bunnings Warehouse Rothwell. It was our first sausage sizzle and fundraising event since COVID. Our team of volunteers on the ground reported a busy day with constant snag sales. #fundraising #volunteers #guardiansofthebay

10.01.2022 Last night, volunteers were tasked to search for a missing man on his jet ski. He had become lost, late yesterday afternoon. Radio communication was established with the rider at midnight. Due to low lying heavy fog - visibility was significantly reduced. Our commander kept in constant radio contact with the man, throughout the night, to keep his spirits up. He was located this morning near the Caboolture River Yellow marker. Our rescue vessel RSL Redcliffe retrieved the m...an and whisked him back to our base to get checked out by paradmedics. A great outcome. Our volunteers also towed his jetski back to base with Freightplus. Great work by all services involved Queensland Police Service, VMR Brisbane Inc, VMR Bribie Island, Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) #guardiansofthebay #coastguardredcliffe #volunteers

10.01.2022 A BUSY and REWARDING weekend for our volunteers Saturday, the first rescue job was for a yacht which had gear box trouble. The weather conditions were perfect for anything but sailing (with no wind). The friendly couple were picked up just east of Redcliffe, and safely towed back to their berth at Scarborough. They have been loyal marine assist members for many years. Sundays weather proved to be very different to Saturdays. A strong westerly blew up and caused a few i...ssues for some of our NEW marine assist members. The first call for the day came in from a boat with engine troubles near Tangalooma. RSL Redcliffe was quickly dispatched with crew to retrieve the vessel, before it blew to close the beach. While this assist was happening, ANOTHER call for assistance came in from a vessel who had broken down off Scarborough. Freightplus was dispatched to assist. Both owners were grateful for the assist and praised our volunteers on their professionalism. Sunday evening, just after our volunteers had knocked off, a call came in for a Medevac. Standby crew members were called back in to accompany 3 QAS paramedics to Tangalooma to complete the Medevac - in conditions which were not very pleasant . It is good to see more boaties are seeing the benefits of joining our marine assist program, with new signups each week Sign up today www.coastguard.com.au/marine-assist #qf3 #guardiansofthebay #volunteers #bteam

09.01.2022 There was quite a crowd, on the beach at Tangalooma today, watching our skipper raft up next to the flyer. Our volunteers were over at Moreton on a Medevac with Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) paramedics. #volunteers #medevac #bitofacrowd #nopressureskip

09.01.2022 Volunteers have just returned from a MEDEVAC from Tangalooma. It just so happened to be dolphin feeding time at the resort upon arrival, so our volunteers got to observe from our boat while the paramedics attended to the patient. note: no dolphins were harmed during our docking #qf3 #volunteers #guardiansofthebay #medevac

08.01.2022 Hope everyone had a nice weekend, staying safe & staying healthy. Were happy to report our volunteers had a quiet weekend with no activations or requests for assistance. Thanks to our volunteer Barry for these cracker photos (taken from the base)

08.01.2022 Congratulations to our Local Mercury dealership on winning these awards. All of our vessels are powered by Mercury and supplied and serviced by Brisbane Marine. These guys and girls are amazing in everything they do and we look forward to many more years working together.

08.01.2022 Coast Guard Redcliffe would like to thank Mayor Peter Flannery, Councillor Sandra Ruck and the Moreton Bay Regional Council team for the recent COVID-19 Community Infrastructure Revitalisation grant. This grant funded the concrete pathway upgrade to improve access safety for our volunteers and community groups. It has also allowed disability access and will help improve our emergence response capability, by allowing smooth transitions for emergency evacuations from vess...el to the ambulance. It has also funded the installation of an electronic security access system to boost security and protect volunteer safety. #coastguardredcliffe #guardiansofthebay #volunteers

08.01.2022 Last Friday our volunteers assisted the RAAF with some on water training. It was a great day for all involved with good weather and clear skies. The CHC helicopter was involved in the training day, hence why the nearby carpark was closed off on Friday to enable easy landings and take offs. The RAAF even presented our flotilla with a framed poster as a form of appreciation for all our volunteers effort, to make the day run seamlessly. ... We would like to add a special thanks to all defence force personnel, past and present who have served our country #wewillrememberthem

08.01.2022 A great outcome for this Jet Skier, Well done to all crews that spent the night searching.

07.01.2022 A busy day on the water for our volunteers today, including a dual tow from near tangalooma to port of Brisbane via Scarborough. A timely reminder even well maintained engines can breakdown from time to time. Are you a marine assist member? Call our base to find out more and sign up. #qf3coastguard #guardiansofthebay #volunteers

07.01.2022 ONE VERY LUCKY DUCK On Tuesday the 14th of July, our volunteers were tasked by water police to go and assist an 8 metre yacht - which was drifting. The yacht was drifting in the direction of the Scarborough reef. The wind was blowing at a constant 25 knots westerly, which meant this task had to happen fairly quickly. The task was not going to be easy, but not impossible; thats what our volunteers train for. ... Our rib CG34 was dispatched with crew along with the Redcliffe Leagues 2 tender vessel + crew. Our tender vessel was able to get up close to the yacht which was bouncing around in the shallows. A tow line was attached and ran out to CG34, which was able to tow the vessel away from the reef and to safety. Crew believe if they had not responded when they did, in less than an hour, the yacht would have finished up on the reef and been severely damaged. The yacht was tied up at a local pontoon in the marina until the owner could be contacted. The next day the grateful owner came by the base to personally thank the crew and was very pleased there was no apparent damage to his yacht. The owner was a marine assist member, so his membership covered the fee for our service. #qf3 #volunteers #coastguardredcliffe #guardiansofthebay

06.01.2022 MEDEVAC Yesterday evening, a call came through for a Medevac, just as our duty team were preparing to knock off. 'Redcliffe Leagues Club 2’ departed base at 1800hrs with paramedics onboard. Once over at Tangalooma, our rescue vessel rafted up to the Tangalooma flyer on the jetty, where all were transferred onto our vessel. The patient and family members, were safely transported back to Scarborough at around 20:15hrs, and then transported to hospital for further care. ... Great teamwork with QAS and good nighttime, sea experience for our newer crew. #guardiansofthebay #medevac #volunteers

06.01.2022 Our first tow assist for the day is currently in progress, with our volunteers towing a 28ft bayliner back from the M1 / M2 main channel marks. The vessel is currently under tow by Freight Plus enroute back to Scarborough harbour. #coastguardredcliffe #guardiansofthebay #volunteers

06.01.2022 IMPORTANT NOTICE As directed by the QLD WATER POLICE SERVICE, - OUR QF3 BASE will be CLOSED from 1800hrs tonight, due to the current lockdown. This means there will be no radio coverage during this time AT OUR BASE, as we will not have a radio operator. ... Stay Safe.

05.01.2022 SEA SICK SAILOR Yesterday, afternoon our volunteers were called out to rescue a 23ft sailing vessel in Deception bay. A person on board was very sea sick and injured, hence for the assistance. The wind was blowing a good 25 knot southerly, which made for a difficult rescue. ‘RSL Redcliffe’ was used for the rescue and our crew relied on their Coast Guard training and skills to get the job done. The total evolution took around 2 hours with a successful ending. Volunteers g...ot the vessel into the harbour safely, where an ambulance was waiting with paramedics. #qf3 #volunteers #guardiansofthebay

03.01.2022 A reminder to all the carpark as per picture will be closed on Friday this week from 3am till 5pm. Thank you Please Share

03.01.2022 NEW TANGALOOMA VHF REPEATER For a number of years, Coast Guard Redcliffe has performed medivacs from Tangalooma on behalf of the Queensland Ambulance Service. During this time it has become obvious that marine radio coverage in and around Tangalooma has not always been reliable. To overcome this problem, Coast Guard Redcliffe volunteers have engineered and installed a repeater at the resort site operating on VHF channel 20. This repeater now provides superior coverage acros...s the eastern part of Moreton Bay and in particular around Tangalooma and behind the wrecks. This project wouldnt have come to fruition without the support of a number of organisations including; Mr Phil Lillibridge - Chairman - Board of Directors of The Kedron-Wavell Club that sponsored the purchase of the equipment, Tangalooma Island Resort who kindly allowed the antenna to be installed on their tower and the equipment cabinet in their fenced enclosure. They also assisted with transport to and from the island, Peninsula Steel who fabricated the stainless steel cabinet, Volunteers from Crest - Queensland and of course, a number of Redcliffe Coast Guard volunteers who assisted with the project THANK YOU

03.01.2022 IT PAYS to be a MARINE ASSIST MEMBER! Saturday evening, at around 9pm our volunteers received a call from a 38foot power-cat. There was 8 people onboard and the vessel was taking on water, off Tangalooma; Moreton Island. Their bilge pump was not handling the ingress of water, so they had to start manually pumping aswell. RSL Redcliffe with 4 crew, set out at speed with pumps to assist. Our crews used one of our pumps which handled the inflow of sea water just fine.... Once under control, 2 of our crew remained onboard, while RSL Redcliffe towed the vessel back to Cabbage tree creek. All passengers were very appreciative of how the situation was handled by our Coast Guard volunteers. Our volunteers returned to base, tieing up at the pontoon at 0230 the next morning. The power-cat owner was a marine assist member, which meant their membership covered the costs. On Sunday, a few keen eyes from our base headquarters, spotted a kitesurfer in trouble in deep water (from our window). Little did the kitesurfer know, that the duty officer had dispatched our rescue vessel Freight plus to render assistance. On arrival, crews could see the gentleman was obviously getting very tired and did no hesitate when we offered him a slow tow back to shallow waters. He was greeted by his friends, and naturally very grateful for the help. The rest of the weekend was made up of various on water training, aswell the usual routine maintenance of our boats. Are you a Marine Assist member? Call our base to sign up today! #qf3 #volunteers #guardiansofthebay #marineassist #worthitsweightingold

03.01.2022 A special THANK YOU to Everhard Industries at Geebung, who generously donated a massive 450L pump well. It is a requirement for our volunteers to undergo fire-fighting training to be able to crew our rescue vessels. This well, will help prolong our equipment as we can use fresh water for this regular training, as apposed to using salt water which leads to corrosion alot quicker. 01.01.2022 Midnight Medivac Our volunteers have just returned from a Medivac to Tangalooma with Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics. 01.01.2022 Busy weekend for BTEAM #busybees Saturday provided superb weather and as a result Moreton Bay was very busy! Our volunteers had dozens of our boating community log on, and naturally this kept our radio room flat out for the day. In the morning ‘FreightPlus’ was tasked to Bramble bay to be the safety vessel for the outriggers regatta. Our volunteers were there all day, and did have to rescue one boat. The crew of one outrigger were taken onboard our rescue vessel and then... crew towed their outrigger back to the boat ramp. All were safe Also on Saturday was the Moreton Bay Emergency services expo, held at Rothwell. Our rescue rib CG34, along with 2 crew were asked to attend. The volunteer crew reported a busy day, with plenty of interest across the services displayed. During the already busy morning activities, a call came through for a Medevac to Tangalooma. Two QAS paramedics accompanied our volunteers over to Moreton Island and brought back the patient and family members. NOW, while all this was happening, and our volunteers had 3 boats on tasks - yet another call came in from a broken down boat on the other side of Moreton island. This was going to stretch our duty crew, but as luck would have it.... VMR Brisbane Inc had a rescue vessel in the area doing familiarisation exercises and heard our radio chat with the disabled vessel. VMR Brisbane and Coast Guard regularly work together, so they towed the broken down boat back to Scarborough for us. This was much appreciated. On SUNDAY , the morning started with a 2 vessel assessment for one of our volunteer crew Simmo. Reports are, she flew through her holistic with flying colours - great work!! Shorty after completing the assessment, volunteers received a call from another broken down boat near Bulwer. Our rib CG34 and crew were dispatched to assist. Then around lunchtime, a much larger boat was having mechanical problems as it was passing the Scarborough Harbour laterals. So one of our vessels was dispatched to help guided it in, and assist with the berthing. Just as our volunteers returned to base, another call for assistance came in, for another vessel over at the Bulwer wrecks needing assistance. They were one of our marine assist members and were having engine problems. ‘Redcliffe Leagues 2’ was sent over to assist and towed the vessel back to Newport. While crew were assisting the above mentioned vessel back to Newport, more crew had been dispatched in ‘FreightPlus’ to bring back a 5metre half cabin, that had broken down about 2 NM off Scarborough reef. Safe to say, our duty team and all volunteers involved - deserved a nice cold drink and to put their feet up, after a very busy weekend! #volunteers #guardiansofthebay ______________________ Are you a Marine Assist member?
