19.01.2022 Good evening everyone, Unfortunately I am writing to communicate some sad news. A devils past player, Robert Manton, sadly passed away on the weekend after a battle with cancer.... The Manton Family has a very proud and strong history with the Red Devils. Roberts Father George was a Past President and his brothers Geoff and Noel are also much loved members of the Past Players community. On behalf of the entire North Footscray community, I pass on our sincerest condolences to the Manton family. Regards Jason McCluskey President

17.01.2022 Hi all, As mentioned- we are going to market. This is a great opportunity for a coach out there. Fresh new committee with some great ideas in the pipeline. The List build (and continues to build) has been done with no affiliation to a previous coach.... Please share far and wide. #reddevilresurgence See more

16.01.2022 .....and the wheels are back in motion to aim for another....

16.01.2022 Good afternoon to the entire North Footscray Community, It is with great sadness that I advise that one of our clubs most passionate and loyal members, Norm Rya...n, has passed away this morning after recent illness. I have expressed our condolences and best wishes to Norms immediate and extended family. Given Covid restrictions, I have already provided a short eulogy to Norms daughters Sarah & Anne at their request. Although many of you may only remember Norm’s involvement at North Footscray over recent times, his involvement actually spanned over 5 decades. After playing for the club during 1964/65 Norm truly began making a difference once elected to the committee in 1965. He undertook the club Presidency from 1968 - 1972 and was instrumental in getting John Charles back to the club in 1971. Norm only vacated the role due to his career at the time requiring him to move to Wangaratta. Distance was never going to stop Norm though. He served two separate stints on the committee and was the Treasurer of the Past players group over a 12-year period. I personally had many dealings with Norm after taking on the Past Players Presidency and I am not alone when I say that his phone calls to many of us became that of legend. Hello Cobber its Norm Ryan He embarked on some rogue crusades at times but that was Norm. He had his heart in the right place and his passion for the Red and White was unquestionable. In todays local football world, clubs cry out for a man like Norm. A willingness to do whatever he can to help lead a club with pride. I feel as though we can all take solace in the fact that when big Norm was sitting in the social rooms, selling a raffle ticket or gazing around the memorabilia, he beamed with pride. He just loved the place! He knew he had played a major role in the history of our great club and he was right. To quote Norm’s daughter’s Sarah and Anne today: Dad had his football scarves on his bed this morning, so the club was with him to the end Thank you so much for the message. The footy club was Dads life. I’m pretty sure it’s why he lived as long as he has. He loved that place with his whole heart. A sad day for our football club. Vale Norm Ryan. 14.01.2022 On behalf of North Footscray Football & Netball Club I am unfortunately writing to inform you of some very sad news. We all mourn the loss of Toni Spry, a member of the Spry family that have had a long history with The Devils. Toni, daughter to Carol and Don, sister to Lee and Troy passed suddenly. This has obviously devastated her family and extended family members which all have a link to our club.... Lee, a loyal past player has asked that her legacy be remembered the way he would like it. For years he felt Toni was always Lee’s sister and he wants everyone to know that he was simply Toni’s brother and would prefer he be remembered that way, such is his love and respect for his sister. On behalf of the club I send the Spry, Mason and Smeaton families our deepest condolences and love. Regards Jason McCluskey

05.01.2022 Good afternoon fellow 'Devils ISO's", After posting one of the "tag challenges on FB it seems my 21st photo of Barry "Darkie" Miller has evoked many memories of the man. I decided I would jot down a brain-dump of Darkie things for us have a chuckle over on a lazy Sunday To be clear - this was a different era and I'm not condoning drinking etc but Darkie was Darkie. We cant re-write history....Continue reading

03.01.2022 Another terrific step forward for the club. We now have a full senior and reserve coaching structure. List recommitted and standby for new player signings....

01.01.2022 Hello everyone, I trust you and your families are all safe and well. I thought Id touch base to provide a further update on the current football/netball seasons.... As of Monday 25th May, AFL Vic have advised that clubs are allowed to train in groups of 10 with restrictions on numbers of groups per oval, self distancing, non contact and a few other measures. It is not mandatory for clubs to train however if the club elects to train, we need to first register and complete COVID-19 delegate training as well as meet a list of protocols that must be adhered to each and very session In terms of decisions on any "season"( if any) there are ongoing discussion being held between AFL Vic and leagues across the metro area. The WRFL have been very keen to garner club feedback which has been great. This whole situation poses a variety of challenges, not least of all the fiscal impact if we cannot hold functions or social gathering of any note as a source of revenue. Bar & Canteen, although might seem small in scale, are very necessary at a local level. Rest assured, season or no season, if circumstances change, we look forward to catching up with all our Devils family later in the year to celebrate all things North Footscray, including a celebration of the anniversary of some famous premierships from years 1980 and 2010. As you would understand, all clubs within all divisions have their own circumstances to consider. In terms of our club, I can personally guarantee that the committee and I are always looking for various ways to do what's best for The Devils. In brighter news, the club received confirmation this week that the electronic scoreboard that has been lobbied for over a number of years will finally be installed within the next 2 weeks. We look forward to being able to utilise this for a variety of things (watch this space) in the future. Thanks for reading and feel free to give me a call if need be. Take care Regards Jason McCluskey 0419 11 75 11
