The local community ...is desperate to rebuild, but it seems the help they need just isnt there. We sent Tom Tilley out to Buchan to see how the town is faring.

10.01.2022 PLEASE HELP Earlier this year, after the impact of bushfire in our region, lots of producers and businesses found themselves in a position where we had to thin...k differently and find new ways to do business. One of the beautiful things to fall out of the bushfires was the comradery and collaboration between Forge Creek Free Range Seasalt Bakery and Tambo Valley Honey. A collaboration box was created right in the middle of bushfires (it was the brainchild of Seasalt Bakery ), where generous people all over Australia (and the world!) that were desperate to support/help/donate to people affected by bushfire could do something really personal and meaningful. The produce box was purchased (paying us each for cost of goods) then were delivered all over East Gippsland to families that needed some love and kindness. It was epic and well never forget how it made us all feel! Working together in tough times is key to survival and the bond and friendship we formed is incredible. Which leads us to this ... Deb & Peter @forgecreekfreerange need our HELP ASAP. Deb has an over supply a challenging situation to manage with fresh eggs! Now, due to the impact Covid19 is having on many of their cafes and outlet stores, Deb and Peter find themselves in a situation where they have an over supply of beautiful freerange eggs. Once again, the beautiful hens know no different, happily laying eggs each & every day! ... just like our cows, you cant turn them off. We ask that if you can help spread the word & are able to purchase a dozen of their eggs, you do so knowing you will be directly supporting the Hahnemanns - a wonderful East Gippsland family who rely on selling eggs to pay for their groceries. Purchase eggs through click for vic which is FREE delivery - go to https://viccountrymarket.com.au//inventory-48000622-3d54-4

07.01.2022 ORH became aware last night about a suspected positive case of Covid-19 in a visitor to our area. We have made contact with the Department of Health and Human S...ervices who coordinate contact tracing and notifying suspected cases. Due to the volume of cases that Victoria is seeing this may take some time. We ask that any person who thinks that they may have been in contact, or is concerned about their risks factors to stay at home and self isolate until further information is available. ORH will work closely with the relevant authorities to coordinate testing locally but this needs to be set up safely to protect our staff as well as our community. In line with current advice, wearing a mask when out of your home is recommended, along with washing your hands often and keeping at least 1.5 metres away from others. Please stay at home if you have any cold or flu symptoms and you must self isolate at home until your swab result is back if you have been tested for Covid-19. Please call the coronavirus hotline on 1800 675 398 if you suspect you may have coronavirus, or have been in contact with a positive case. We will be working as fast as we can to set up the testing locally but ask that you do not phone the medical clinic for testing this morning unless you have symptoms. We will be working with authorities to set up dedicated testing for those people who may have been exposed over the weekend. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page and we will update you all as official information becomes available to us.
